The most important advantage of Kobo over Kindle is FREEDOM. Kindle is basically tethered with a titanium cable to Amazon, whilst Kobo can support 15 different file formats, which means you can get a book from basically anywhere that isn't Amazon.

    Kobo Clara hd ❤️
    CONS:
    -can't search/organize by file name.
    -highlighting is clumsy.
-touch response a little clumsy but no biggie(though i have no kindle experience to compare)
    PROS:
    - nice clear display with good lighting flexibility.
-looks and feels great with a case(magnetic auto sleep when closed cover)+hand strap and kickstand.
-8GB is WAY more than I need. It could probably hold 2000+ epubs.
-good battery life, maybe 1-2 weeks for me.
-has a secret sketching app in the beta settings.
    -has Overdrive/libby internally.
-no amazon ecosystem. Easy to sideload epubs.
-inspires a non reader like me to read more instead of getting pissed and depressed by internet comments sections 😂
-goes on sale for $89.99, regularly $119.99.

@@Maneetpaul it 100% is. I have 3 kobo kibre h20 because my first had a lose backplate so I asked for a replacement and that one had SUPER mushy buttons and a horrible screen that's less bright, super uneven etc so I called again and got another one and the new one has clicky buttons just like the first one, the screen was slightly less bright and with a slight yellowish green tint compared to my first one, but the screen was pretty clean other than that... But then I noticed it too has a loose backplate not as bad as the first one but its loose. So I had the opportunity to compare 3 of them and the buttons definitely are supposed to be very nice and clicky / tactile. But man the screen differences and quality control seem to be horrible
So now I'm about to call a third time asking for yet another replacement lol... Normally I wouldn't be so ocd about this stuff but the lose backplate really annoys me and also means it's probably not ipx8 anymore
Wish me luck, I'm not sure if they will go for it a third time. (p.s obviously I'm supposed to send them back except the one I'm keeping, but at this moment before I have sent any of them back I have 3 of them)

Do you have a recomendation for someone who wants an ereader with good page turn buttons? Does the Forma have bad buttons too? Or is it just the Libra??

What I don't like about Kobo is that you can't sideload books without a PC.. unlike Kindle and pocketbook where you can sideload books via email... I don't understand why Kobo refuses to adapt this kind of technology... You cannot have a PC with you all the time..

but you still can sideload with a wire, can't you? sorry, I'm just asking because I'm choosing an ereader and this option is very important for me. That's why I'm aftraid of kindles

Thanks for sharing! Did I see a camera on one of those devices? If so what does it do? And another question - can the note taking sync to Evernote?

    • @Maneetpaul
      @Maneetpaul  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

No cameras on any of the Kobos! And when it comes to Evernote, there’s no direct sync. It’s a bit annoying. On the Elipsa, you can export notes to Dropbox and then share those to Evernote.
When it comes to book notes, I much rather prefer Kindle because that ecosystem supports Readwise. Which syncs to Notion, Evernote, etc

Thanks for your excellent review. I am in Canada and I remember when the Kindle first came out. I really wanted one but we couldn't get them, so Kobo was my go-to. When I bought the first Kobo many years ago, I couldn't figure out how to use it, and so I never did. Is it still usable at all? I don't really want to invest in a new one, so can I upgrade my model? I admit I still prefer print versions of books to eReaders but now I'm looking for my Kobo again because I have a few books I want to obtain from the States.

    My requirement:
    Good Book reading experience, PDF.
    Need Stylus.
Note takes, by hand, less latency, paper and Pen.

I really liked Kobo Forma, But being here in India I am tied to Amazon echo system, ... Kobo won't be giving me ebooks like on Kabir, Mira and Rumi and as cheap as 50 INR. I am waiting for Amazon to launch new Kindle in 2022 something beyond 7 inch. Currently I have 7th gen paperwhite and even that hurts my eyes and from 6 inch to 7 inch oasis is NOT a good choice considering price difference is HUGE.

Hello, againe! How are you? Perfect?! Pff, brilliant! I bought a Kobo Forma but I have a big problem. I don't have the icon ''Aa'' for font size. I spoke with somebody from kobo forma and he told me the reason why I don't have this icon is because I download books from internet and not from kobo store. I don't know, is true? Because I have few hundred books in pdf format and I would don't like to buy anothers. THX!

I don't have problems with page turn buttons on Libra H2O. In the video, you seemed to press the buttons in the ends where the two buttons meet. You should press on the farthest ends of the buttons.

When it comes to page turn buttons, it shouldn't matter where I press them. On my Oasis and Forma, I can press the button on any part and it will work. It's only with the Libra I need to press it in a certain position :/

    • @HHuynh-DP

@@Maneetpaul You are right. But I pressed the buttons various ways on my Libra and found no problem. I also watched quite a few other reviews on this device and none mentioned problem with these buttons. This leads me to suspect you have a defective device. Anyway keep up the good work. I really enjoyed your videos. :)

@@HHuynh-DP I've read a few other reviews online reporting the same problem. Perhaps the issue is that the Libra is inconsistent or something, which, either way, would lead me away from selecting it as the Kobo for me. But - super glad yours works! Hope you're enjoying it 🤗
