my mate headstrongly wanted to complete as much of the game in free trial as possible. I presume that this is his experience with a 300k bank cap, no retainers and cno access to the market board for like 400 hours of ff14 all the way up to HS. maxed all crafters and like 5 jobs lol
It would be nice if they set the vendor prices one or two standard deviation below the market board average price (calculated from sold items only and not what is listed). That way you could quickly earn some decent gil, while also making the market board less susceptible to undercutting since if you undercut too much people will just vendor their stuff instead which will remove the item from the economy, thus lowering supply and driving the price up instead.

Still, while it might not stop the undercutting it would at least mitigate some of the damage as people with stuff to sell would only need to compete with the undercutters to a point. And removing supply from the market would push prices up. But if people buy from the undercutters then that would push the vendor prices down. Fuck... I think the market system would need a complete overhaul to deal with the undercutters.
@@Hammer1987 putting a minimum price on market board items would be a good start I think. It would prevent people from selling items below vendor price. For example, bom boko plushes go for below their vendor price on my server but not so far below that I can buy them and sell them to a vendor for a quick few gil.

I'd play FF 14 more just for the gather/craft/market board loop. The thought of trudging through two whole expansions to catch up isn't very appealing to me though. I know part of the crafting includes fighting monsters for materials, which is fine, but I'm done grinding story to get to what I really want, especially for $15 a month.
This is why the market board has rare items going for 50k but one of them is selling for 500 Gil. We want don't want to hang onto stuff we don't need but the npc merchants are complete scrooges!
Typical Rpg merchant be like: For that ultimate weapon you got, imma give you 5 gold for it. Oh you want to buy it back? That will be 400k gold. Oh you got a funny hat? Imma give you 100k gold for it!
I mean, it's a funny hat. Do you know what kind of stuff players will willingly go through just to wear the most ridiculous costume? That NPC knows what's up. He might have paid 100k gold, but others will sell their very soul to him for it ;)
To be fair, what do you expect HIM to do with it? It can only be used by otherwordly craftsman such as ourselves. Nobody in Uldah is over level 50 weaver.
What you wanna do is get your grand companies hunting log done and get seals to level it up- once you rank up you can start turning in gear for company seals which buy all sorts of things. Such as, Glamour dispellers and prisms, which are a very stable source of income.
