I've batched up the Lions Mane I found on our land. It has cleared my head. I started giving it to my cat, who was very sick and had an appointment to be euthanized. In four days, he improved so much I cancelled his appointment. My daughter had a brain tumor when she was 2 years old. At 37 now she is beginning to learn things! It is amazing! We aren't in a study, but would like to be. Lions Mane is a powerful brain regenerator!! I am amazed!!

Also, not worth the money to have it in capsules. You need to grow your own and process it by blending it in water, then steeping it in vodka.

I have dyslexia - the strongest/clearest symptom is poor memory, to the point that I sometimes scare people with how little I remember day-to-day. (Some of my poor memory maybe related to ADHD giving me poor attention.)
I recently take a mushroom supplement, with ground Lion's Mane, and I do think my memory is better but it's not like it's been a wonder drug.

I have poor memory also, and I have found over the years much of the time, it's because of not paying attention. If I want to remember something I have to consciously tell myself to remember it and then I can recall much better later. For example I only see my grandson once in a while so I replay our activities in my mind a couple times right away after and then I am able to remember everything I wanted to remember about it later.

coincidentally i just recently got into growing mushrooms and i grew a lions mane mushroom which was indeed pretty good tasting with a squishy texture but that might have been a result of the way i cooked it.

    • @salvadorpalma8173
      @salvadorpalma8173 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

There is a trick to cooking all mushrooms, but that applies especially to lion's mane.
This has a scientific explanation that I'm not gonna go into. But basically mushrooms, before being cooked, will absorb any kind of liquid medium you try to cook them on, for example, oil. Manes are especially difficult in this regard because they are so spongy.
The solution is to pan "fry" them with a sizzle of water, before you cook them. Basically you heat a pan very hot, put in a bit of water, just enough to barely cover the surface of the skillet/pan. Then you put in the mushrooms. There outer layer will change, and aquire a kind of jelatinous layer. This layer will prevent absorption. You only have to blaze them for a minute or so, it's a very fast quimical reaction they go through, but makes a hell of a difference.
After that you can pan fry them, grill them, cook them in the oven, etc. They will get coated in whatever seasonings you use, instead of imideatly sucking them and end up grilling.
After that trick, a nice way Lions go, is just fried with a bit of butter.
WHATEVER you do, NEVER wash any mushrooms with water. Always clean them dry. And NEVER salt them in the beggining, always at the end. Because mushrooms are 90% water and salt will suck it out making the mushrooms boil, instead of however you are trying to cook them.

@@biancat.1873 cordiceps is the family. Unilateralis I think is the one that grows on insects. The one farmed is militaris, which in nature grows on dead matter. They are usually grown in substrate based on rice flour.
There is also sinesis, which is native to asia and is harvested in nepal which also grows on insects.
99.9% the cordiceps you get in the western world will be militaris. I think sinensis is very expensive and very rare.

Amazing properties in Lion's Mane and other mushrooms. Exercising your muscles also helps with the production of BDNF. It's also important to consider what can be done in the field of prevention, by dealing with the contributing factors to Alzheimer's, such as getting a good sleep, reducing stress, staying physically and mentally active, having good social relationships, avoiding processed foods, and last but not least, avoiding an excessive consumption of carbohydrates. It is for a reason that Alzheimer's is now being called Type 3 diabetes.

Actually, many supplements CAN HURT YOU. Lions mane is not recommended for people on blood thinners, people on diabetic medication have to be very careful as they can have a drop in blood sugar that puts them into a coma or crisis, and people who have auto immune disease absolutely cannot use this medication, as well as people who have transplants. If you research drug interactions and contract indications along with side effects of many supplements and herbs call my even those made from food and greens, you will find there are often people that can be harmed by these. Before we had modern medicine we had herbalist drugs and that is where many of our modern drugs stem from. Always be knowledgeable, never be careless. When I was in my 20s I went into full kidney failure and had strokes because I was taking all these great supplements, I didn't know what was wrong with me. I have lupus. All those supplements were wonderful and made me feel great, but they also hyper stimulated my defective immune system into almost entirely killing me, I had 2 babies at home that needed me. I went thru absolute hell. Now I have a kidney transplant so I have to be even more cautious. This was back in the 90s before universal health care and I had no good health care, and even when I did they did not understand what was wrong with me or check for it. Only when I became pregnant did they finally dive into the issue. By then it was too late for my unborn child, he came out with severe neurological issues, because my immune system was attacking him in the womb. My kidneys were already damaged and headed into stage 4 and kidney failure. Took a few more years, but it completely disabled me. It affected multiple organs and was quite harmful to my entire body. All of that was hyperstimulated by me taking supplements that made me feel "better". One of these was in the form of a medicinal tea that had absolutely no warning on the box about who should and shouldn't take it. I have actually communicated to the company about what happened. Now their boxes contain a detailed warning about these issues and whom it can harm.

I've been giving lions mane to my family member who has mental decline. They've been on it for 6 weeks. Not seeing anything earth shattering yet but I see the Japan study was 16 wks so we'll keep it up. I figured it would take a while to notice. They're also on other supplements like plasmalogen, magnesium l threonate, omega 3, and others plus controlling t2 diabetes.
From what I've read it's extremely important for us to keep sugars and fructose consumption to a minimum and get those omega 3s up. I've read exercise is good too but old people don't want to have much to do with that.

What's more important is what NOT to eat for mental health, which is saturated fat - specifically animal based saturated fat. In Asia cases of alzeheimers skyrocketed after the general population adopted western style diet. For overall eat low fat whole food plant based diet 😊

@micthevegan can you do a video on MK7 ? It’s looking like that can stop arterial calcification in its tracks and possibly DEcalcify the arteries. It also has a whole plethera of other benefits like lower blood sugar 20-30%, increase mitochondrial output and so ejection fraction, increases bones density, it myelinate neurons, and lots more. But I’m unclear of what are the real substantiated claims vs that which needs more research.
My thing was to reverse the calcified plaque. Which mk7 is shown to stop calcium contributing to the endothelial lining, but it’s unclear to me if it can take the calcium of already calcified plaques.
I’m also considering doing a water only fast for 7-10 days. I’ve done a 7 day and 5 day fast in the past, but they suck so much for me that I haven’t done them in a while. I just want to do what’s necessary to clear away my arteries.
I was vegan in the past for about 3 years. I dropped my LDL from 120-130 to about 72 But I felt tired. So I went back to eating meat and “felt” better, but now my LDL is about 93. I do eat way more veggies and less meat, as I figured tilting away from meat is better, but I’ve been trying to figure out how to not feel tired in my vegan walk.
I saw your video stating that vegans, without exercise, lost like 24 pounds within a year I think. So, if that’s true, I do exercise heavily, it’s my meditation. So, maybe I lost too much weight too fast, and my metabolism slowed to account for that rapid weight loss, and with slower metabolism there’s more lethargy? Idk.
Also, with the mk7, it’s found in the fats of free range and grass fed animals, and in fermented foods, the highest of which is Natto (fermented soy bean). And this, as I mentioned, increases mitochondrial output. So, do vegans get enough mk7 from diet as compared to meat eaters? Because I’m not a big fermented food guy. I like pickles and relish, but that’s occasional and not a daily staple. I mention this because, perhaps supplementing with mk7 can help me feel more energized???? That could be a stretch. By the way, I did supplement with b12, and omega 3 from algae while being vegan, along with 4,000-5,000 IU’s of vitamin D3. Hope I tagged you correctly. I want to go back to vegan ASAP, but want a plan to mitigate the pit fall of having less energy I had before..

Like your videos loads very smart and fast good responses.....
Ure arguing with very biased tauntolgical arguments....
The neurons of eating dead animals, are in the assimilation of the arguments defendding them....
Tauntologic arguments are just circular veribiage always traced to a direct consistent or compatible incline to the core inclinations.
    So poision animal eaters....
Will always have arguments to support the grounds of dead animal eating......
This bias occurs because the neurons for the poision animal eating activity is directly responsibke for contriving the arguments.....
Instead of using the physical motor neurons the collaterals and using words to fight you.....
This is conflict... (confligere - etym)
This struggle is circular and tauntological and you are arguing with adrenaline and noreadrenaline and cortisol (i.e. limbic brain fight and flight response brain arguments)
This shuts off the wenricks and brokes areas so you cannot get any receptivity nor reasonable nor rational nor compassionate nor intrapersonal skills from people as the limbic brain causes lateral inhibition by increasing milovolts in the neurons of the limbic brain so the neocortex and wenricks areas are disabled via "lateral inhibition".
So phonation and interpreting your phonation is actually being said to the deaf ears of the act of poision animal eating itself.... and this act (neurological act) will never be able to listen to you.... further more it will always destabalose the other interwove neurons and (hormones) thus the fight and flight will means your immediately wasting your energy on arguing at the precise moment ... that their incline (animal eating) and your incline (plant eating) misallign or worse oppose....
Because their limbic laterally inhibits reasona nd ration and receptivity....
So you can prove information to us your audience who actually allign with your incline, were receptive....
Yet the opposal of inclines is essentially the root of every conflict (confligere) in all existence......
And opposal first occurs in differences(creative differences or any difference creates the potential for opposability. I.e. different teams can oppose different religions can, the rattlers and eagles oppose in robbers cave yet actually allign better and easier than they oppose, its all about the allignment or misallignment (or opposal of incline)
The limbic effect of intrapersonal skills and intellect and ration and reason are always consistent.... even in animal with a flight response or a fight and flight response.....
So tell us I like it....
But noine who is not sensorially inducted into eating whole healthy holy plant based food..... ideally raw predominantly ....... because oxidation kills antioxidants and cooking oxidises every phytoenzyme/nutrient known.... will not.....
Anyway they will not be receptive to plant eating unless it is already established in their heads...
    And body and neural network
So their neural network has to see, smell chew and buy and wash and cook or chop or munch or prepare and be served and see people served plant based whole food with (most raw ideally)
I have been solely raw vegetables for a year and its better, some studies convey this, ask nate diaz....
    Anyway i digressed.
If there motor neurons and enteric nerves and vagal nerve plexus and receptors (S cells and Chemo cells) and hormones CCK andpancreatic and liver secretions and mandibular plexus and ocular motor nerve and pharygial nerve and hypoglosal hypogastric nerve plexi get sensorial induction to eating plants for healt then people will, have a turn around after three to six months to become keen on plant based whole foods.....
As their neiceptors will report less pain and inflamation and more energy, their mind will report better efficiency and conductivity of neural transmissions, their connective tissues will respond better they will be all around influenced by the biological bolstering of their organism as a total.... this is where the plasticty will be myelinated to establish plant based eating as a viaable way of life and even cause a "confligere-bias" against those who lobby , preech and say to eat dead animals and fill the body with toxiemias and argue from the stagnant perspective of a poision animal eater....
    Yet.....
    Know we are all bias......
Every single incline in existence virtually every single one is a tauntologically biased inclination, be the incline a belief; view; opinion; joke; ideal; core value; value; principle; reckoning; reasoning; action; response; reaction; diet; whatever it is is the direct respectable product, of what is already established in the respective persons own head....
    Always.....
This goes for us too me and you.....
I mean you can dry fast and unhingr your brain with the polar opposite of everything in existence otherwise your virtually always biased as am I.
Hope your reticular formation alerts your cerebel to calm down and understand the biased people your arguing with and the futility of this.....
Otherwise your reticular formation will alert your cerebral cortex and other brain /body areas about the flawed logic of theur arguments which are infact, not logical responses from grown adults like your eyes and ears would have you believe (fuc*ing heuristic)

They'd see more results if they took a real dose and if it was a better psychedelic. LSD, DMT, MDMA all have a more profound impact than psilocybin.

It is very hard for people to get the funding to do this research as most moneyy granted goes to pharmaceutical companies where things can be patented and money can be made. No companies make money if you know which fungi to pick and grow it your self. It is also not legal in most places which poses more issues.

I guess if it has no "bad" side effects and might actually help, and you can afford buying the mushroom, why not give it a try if you are worried about dementia?
