  • Lion's Mane is known as a powerful natural nootropic used for memory, mood and cognition, but it is still a mystery as to exactly how it works. In this episode of The Mushroom Show, we break down new research that has revealed compounds which might be responsible for the growth and protection of neurons. We also dig into how mushrooms might be the ONLY non-animal source of an essential nutrient, and discuss new regulations for psilocybin therapy in Australia.

My aunt's vocal chords were paralyzed and the doctors said it was nerve damage. They said her voice would not come back. I gave her about 1-2 months supply of Lion's Mane mushroom supplements for brain fog... in three weeks her voice began to come back... in six weeks her voice was completely back. This was after a year of not being able to speak. Her brain fog has also decreased significantly.

I've definitely experienced my mental abilities deteriorate over a long period of depression and chronic fatigue, which very much affects sleep. Lion's Mane really does make a huge difference in my day to day life, often I notice when it comes to forming sentences. My friends have even commented, asking how I am able to speak quickly and clearly or being surprised when it comes to me speaking on more complex topics whereas usually I had started to avoid speaking unless it was a more simplistic topic due to feeling as though I wouldn't be able to keep up and/or clearly communicate.
Hope this lil anecdote can convince someone to try it too! Especially if you have depression/chronic fatigue. Remember to check if it interferes with your existing meds and always come to your own conclusions on what's best for you.

@jjhassy Yes. pharmacutical companies do everything in their power to make sure people aren't aware of the nearly magical effects of mushrooms. To be clear, the mushrooms I gave grandma were dried and then finely ground into powder and capsulated. So she was receiving extremely high dosages taking 3 capsules a day for 4 months.

I know it sound silly, but I swear to god I've developed faster reaction time and reflexes. I'll catch things I knock over or drop in an instant whereas normally I'd clumsily fumble them as they fell. Overall awesome supplement, one of the few I've seen actual results with.

The worst case scenario I see in research is the isolation of a chemical in nature that is then synthesized and then sold as a patented expensive drug. Of course this so called medication taken out of context often has side effects which commonly are ameliorated by the rest of the botanical.

I contacted some researcher at Penn State and asked about this vit D. Think he said you can also put dried mushrooms in UV light to make vit D. I really don't get it and was thinking fresh only. I put my mushrooms in the sun for the day on one side, and a second day on the other side. good topic on a safe way to get vit D. Oh guess what. If you take PABA (a B vit) for a month, it goes to the cellular level in your skin and is a natural sun screen. I came back from Jamaica unburnt and a super tan.

    • @thistree9028
      @thistree9028 ปีที่แล้ว

Do research first. Pls be careful..PABA has been banned in the UK and India due to allergic reactions, and liver, even cancer issues. The FDA no longer considers it safe for topical sunscreen use. It actually occurs naturally in some foods including mushrooms, though probably in very small amounts. Not everything natural (manufactured vitamins?) is healthy, especially in such concentrated high amounts or long term.
Thanks for sharing about UV for dried mushrooms! It seems that the suns rays can permeate the dry stuff, and the chemical makeup in the mushroom, still intact, has something to do with it? Worth looking into this a bit more. So, out the door my mushrooms go! Also, led lights usually don’t have UV, some t-5 bulbs do. Maybe I’ll put them under that in the winter (switch out a bulb with a UV one for 20 mins. or so) since I grow micro greens indoors then.

When I hear people say that magic mushrooms cannot be addictive, part of me just can't believe that. I do have two schizophrenic friends (their schizophrenia was triggered in their early adulthood by their use of cannabis and various psychedelics) who can easily fall in a cycle of using magic mushrooms everyday and it doesn't do them any good, it seems to fuel their delusions and further disconnect them from reality. Even I, who is not schizophrenic, sometimes abuse mushrooms for multiple days in a row and it can make me very mentally unstable just like it's going to make me very mentally stable when I use it sparingly in a proper context.
When you're simply addicted to ways for your mind to evade reality, a small to medium dose of mushrooms can easily become something you do for the bad reasons. A large dose of mushrooms will not allow your mind to escape your miserable reality and will probably do the exact opposite instead, so that's reassuring... in a way.

Anything can be addictive. I wonder if they did any DNA tests on that, as this strongly depends on person.
I tired many substances in my life. I did weed, cigarettes, alcohol, ecstasy, acids, opium (pure), amphetamine, brown (smoking coke), hash, shrooms (I still use them but in cycles and microdoses), and never ever get addicted. For example I was smoking for socializing in high school for like 6 months, and then just from day to day stopped. Didn't feel the need for a cigarette. Same with any other substance.
But I know people who ended up miserably.
But I also personally know 2 people who got rid of heroine/amphetamine addiction thanks to Amantia Muscaria. So it's hard to say.

Similar as you age your regenerative process will be less efficient. Here is the same case. However neurons and nerves regenerates way slower then most other cells.

Great show. Do you know of any studies to back up the claims for Lion's man mushroom? Have also read that it could have some bad side effects. Thank you

Why would big pharma do studies on lions mane which they cannot patent? LMAO

Headsup men, check if your dangalangalang works after taking lions mane. Idk why I was one of the unlucky ones with this reaction, as I love mushrooms, but it made my peen stop working. Didnt really notice how much of an issue this was til I had seggs with a hot woman and couldn't get it up, just a half hard on . Ive never experienced that before so it was honestly kind of scary. Never thought it could be the lions mane but turns out it was. ( I took it consistently for about 2-3 months for focus and NGF)
