    Ooh! Nice shoutout for a fellow retro Pokémon TCG TH-camr! It's always great to see cross-pollination between small channels in this niche community, where 1,000 or 2,000 subscribers is considered massive.
    For those not familiar with whimsicast, he recorded a 16-deck Sun and Moon through Lost Thunder format gauntlet, filmed a monumental guide to the 2010 Worlds format, and currently has on ongoing "Greatest Pokémon TCG Sets of All Time" series. Other highlights include assorted tabletop battles, tier lists, deck profiles, and other informative pieces. His passion formats are Sun and Moon through Lost Thunder and 2010 Worlds.

    Been a lifelong collector but just recently learned how to play. These cards are so nostalgic, could you make deck lists/how to play 2006 format videos as well? Would be interesting and helpful!

    Great video! I would have liked to see the Dragtrode deck lean into its more aggressive side to deal with this deck but it would have been risky if not combo’d properly (for example Using Sneasel instead of dragonite to OHKO both metagross easily with darkring with a rocket’s to disrupt incoming setup turns)

    I wanna play this era so badly, but the prices are just insane.
    Wish I had collected them back in the day. Got hooked on Magic after Base set and wasn't aware that Pokemon had gotten much better, so basically I missed all of the best era.😢

    Incredible ending! But no spoilers for those who haven't seen it!
    I was a little surprised to see Rare Candy in the DragTrode deck, as most players usually just opt to daisy-chain search out your evolution cards with Dark Dragonair's Evolutionary Light and evolve manually (not relying on Rare Candy is a particular asset in EX Block/Ruby & Sapphire through Power Keepers, where your opponent can't use Stantler's Push Away to rid you of them and you can just Drag Off their Pokémon with Cessation Crystal attached), but it worked out for you this game!
    2005, 2006 and EX Block are interesting, because they all seem like variations of the same format at a glance, and yet each of them has different decks that could only thrive in that format. DragTrode fares well across all three, but LudiCargo and Zapdos/Rayquaza/Electrode were at their prime in 2005, MetaNite was a top deck in 2006 alone, and the insane Delcatty/Electrode ex thrives in the EX Block Format meta (Just to name examples of decks I enjoy or would probably enjoy).

      My original lists for MetaNite and DragTrode are for 2007 and 2005 respectively, so I had to modify both of them for 2006. I looked over some established lists and saw the lack of rare candy and inclusion of solrock/lunatone in DragTrode and decided that since these decks will only be used once against each other, I didn't need the other techs, so I modified them to give a good video.

      @@holon_phantom Makes sense, though I find it a little bit ironic that you've kept the Worlds reprint decks in their original forms rather than teching them to better match the collection or modern innovations, then modified a deck for a specific matchup. Oh well, we all have our priorities. (It was a good video, by the way, in case you hadn't figured that out yet.)

      It's because when it comes to the WC decks, I value historical accuracy. I'm not really a competitive player and don't really care about finding the "best deck" for the new meta because winning is not really my priority. I mostly care about having fun and making a good video

    • @Charmaster04
      @Charmaster04 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@holon_phantom Sounds good! I just wonder if breaking the pattern once in a while could lead to you having more fun. I suppose you'll know if a deck needs an overhaul or a certain tech to feel fairly matched against other decks for that year, though, so I'll leave the decision of whether you want to make such changes or not to your judgement when the time comes. (Hope the latest Neo-Skyridge list I shared with you looks fun, by the way.)

      Coming up in the 2004 rematch!

    • @Charmaster04
      @Charmaster04 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@holon_phantom While I'm looking forward to the 2004 rematch, 2004 plays like a different format or even a different era than 2005 and 2006. You lack the exciting comeback cards like Rocket's Admin. and Scramble Energy, key consistency cards like Pidgeot and Celio's Network, and just plain fun cards like Surprise! Time Machine and Swoop! Teleporter, and the format feels slower and, dare I say, clunkier.
      Also, I sent you another reply to the email.
