Love the old formats!❤ The combos are smarter compared to 2024.

Far from being spooky, the choice of music during the battle made the video feel... relaxing. Considering how slow and methodical both the decks were (Especially for this format), the calming Dragonspiral Tower theme complemented them well. I know you said Item lock decks don't make for the most interactive battles, but I think they could carve out a niche as some of your most soothing videos with the right music track. In fact, if you're still fine with the 2016 M Audino EX vs Vileplume Box battle, I would enjoy if you paired it with the most soothing music from X and Y. While we're talking about themes, I have an idea for how you could make your December battles feel as special as your October ones. Each of them could pit a deck featuring an Ice type Pokémon (Or other wintery Pokémon like Empoleon) against a deck featuring a Grass or Fire type Pokémon, which would symbolize the age-old struggle between the cold, dark, bleak winter and the warm, bright, festive household from which our modern Christmas decorations crazy emerged. Seeding starter Pokémon and other common gift Pokémon like Eevee into the mix would also reinforce the festive theme, and I'm sure we could find more or less festive-feeling music for each battle. (I could see 2008 Glaceon Lv.X versus Leafeon Lv.X/Magmortar (Or better yet, Glaceon Lv.X/Leafeon Lv.X versus Magmortar/Bronzong, two Jay Hornung lists you could create with cards from your other decks), 2013 Black Kyurem/Blastoise versus Flareon, 2007 Flariados versus Empoleon (Okay, that might be a bad idea matchup wise, a Chien-Pao ex matchup (Perhaps against Hydrapple ex? ;) ), and perhaps even a SniChu versus Venusaur matchup for Base-Neo being good candidates. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing many decks featuring ice types in your collection, so if you are willing to make the theme less rigid, you could also feature 2008 Blissey (Since Blissey is a gift-giver) or something like that. Maybe you could even feature Darkrai EX/Giratina EX versus M Sceptile EX, as mega Sceptile resembles a Christmas tree and... well, how else do you think Santa avoids witnesses? Nice Unown playmat, by the way. Official or unofficial? What's it called?

11:24 I'm curious why you didn't attack the Chandelure instead of Smeargle. Your wife had been pitching Chandelure line pieces like crazy, so you might have been able to end her chances of damaging your bench entirely. That probably would have been enough to win the game. Also, your wife could have used Playground for Mew at 6:16, but I could see an argument for not giving your opponent the chance to search for another Pokémon or for not wanting to punish yourself with baby Pokémon rng in the face of a Raikou EX. As usual, don't think I'm belittling either of you, as you're both quite versatile Pokémon players given the level at which you can play virtually every every of the game.

Can you make a Neo Genesis Ledian and Bellossom deck against any other deck? I just want to give Ledian and Bellossom some of the spotlight for the retro format.

Maybe I misunderstood, but shouldn't Heat Tackle have added 10 Damage each time? if so didn't apply the damage 3x in a row in which case would have gone from 60 -> 90 Damage taking itself out (20:52)

Didn't expect Bellosom to be a attacker until you figure out multi energy works for the grass energy.

Been a lifelong collector but just recently learned how to play. These cards are so nostalgic, could you make deck lists/how to play 2006 format videos as well? Would be interesting and helpful!

I wanna play this era so badly, but the prices are just insane. Wish I had collected them back in the day. Got hooked on Magic after Base set and wasn't aware that Pokemon had gotten much better, so basically I missed all of the best era.😢

They should have released more old-school artworks like Magnemite & Kakuna Switch card instead of Scarlet & Violet. And Gust of Wind instead of Boss's Orders. And at least 2 of each Blastoise Venusaur and Charizard cards in the decks.

Usually you are supposed to search and Evolve into the Gabite before you fire off your Supporter card, just in case it helps in game two. Those small advantages add up.

Brings back memories of one of the best years ever. 1999 Pokemon just hits the US market and at 13-14 my first job was at Bobby’s Card Shop in Sacramento. I cleaned, dusted and vacuumed but only after school and on weekends. Getting that $5.75/hour and I had enough money to be very comfortable and buy anything I wanted. By the age of 15 and a half got my very first 91 Acura Integra RS 4 door all thanks to Pokemon cards and their crazy popularity at the time. What I would do to go back in time with a little bit of now-knowledge! I would not buy my first car but I would invest in 1 addition booster boxes of Base, Jungle, Fossil, Rocket and 2 Gyms. With an investment of about what I spent on the Acura($2400) I would be a millionaire right now. 1st addition base used to be only $117 and I know because I worked there! The time when being a skeptic hurts in the long run;/

Towards the end of the battle I was thinking "Funny, Pokémon Reversal hasn't really factored into this game at all." And then 14:48 happened. Good game. And well timed, with another 2004 Worlds retro tournament (The second War of '04) being held on tcgone on October 26th. Amusingly, I'm actually editing another Prop 15/3 battle video myself in the hopes of getting it published this weekend (Or at least well before the Prop 15/3 event (2000 Prop 15/3 Mega Battle) on tcgone on October 6th. The commentary is much more informative and polished than last time, and I'll be featuring scans of the cards on the left of the screen like you do, so at the moment, I'm feeling proud of my work.

Great video! I would have liked to see the Dragtrode deck lean into its more aggressive side to deal with this deck but it would have been risky if not combo’d properly (for example Using Sneasel instead of dragonite to OHKO both metagross easily with darkring with a rocket’s to disrupt incoming setup turns)

Hello Holon!! i know this video is quite old but, are you using the Errata for the PlusPower? Because the PlusPower afect to both Active Pokemon. In this particular case with Arcanine's Teke Down should have being getting the 30 recoil damage plus 10 more from the PlusPower. Jason Klazinsky wrote about it in his blog: PlusPower will increase damage done to both Active Pokémon. This means attacks that damage the attacking Pokémon (like Arcanine’s Take Down) will have the damage dealt to themselves increased. It should read as follows: Attach PlusPower to your Active Pokémon. At the end of your turn, discard PlusPower. If this Pokémon’s attack does damage to an Active Pokémon (after applying Weakness and Resistance), the attack does 10 more damage to that Pokémon. I realy enjoy your content !! Please keep it up!

Love the content. Only recommendation I would have is to use a solid color mat like black. It might help the cards pop out better. If not that's okay too. I get some people like the fun mats.

Incredible ending! But no spoilers for those who haven't seen it! I was a little surprised to see Rare Candy in the DragTrode deck, as most players usually just opt to daisy-chain search out your evolution cards with Dark Dragonair's Evolutionary Light and evolve manually (not relying on Rare Candy is a particular asset in EX Block/Ruby & Sapphire through Power Keepers, where your opponent can't use Stantler's Push Away to rid you of them and you can just Drag Off their Pokémon with Cessation Crystal attached), but it worked out for you this game! 2005, 2006 and EX Block are interesting, because they all seem like variations of the same format at a glance, and yet each of them has different decks that could only thrive in that format. DragTrode fares well across all three, but LudiCargo and Zapdos/Rayquaza/Electrode were at their prime in 2005, MetaNite was a top deck in 2006 alone, and the insane Delcatty/Electrode ex thrives in the EX Block Format meta (Just to name examples of decks I enjoy or would probably enjoy).
