    My good gosh, I just started going to the gym because I was bored of walking, and I've only seen the smith machine for things like bench pressing. This is PURELY AWESOMEEE!!

    Great video, my fiancé has a smith machine at his place so when I move in I can do all these as my quads just aren’t growing in the gym and I think it is because I shied away from free bar squats the entire past year as it’s never available and I kept trying to make up for it with accessories like goblet squats and lunges which I could never quite do enough of to get to that quad burn.
    Now if I do all these I won’t have to faff around so much with all the accessories, can’t wait to go to his place tomorrow to try all of these on the machine!

      Well not really. You are going to hear from strength coaches who hate Smith Machine " shredding forces, shredding forces". I used to do BB squats 400 x 12 in sets with so-so results. Switched to Smith Machine for 20-25 reps. Miracle happened. I have been doing this for 23 years. No knee problems whatsoever and that is with the legs upfront. All those strength coaches want you to keep feet under the bar. BS not much happening.

      ​@@jjk3502 of course, smith more hypertrophy focused. To get strength it also relies on those stabilizers which smith kinda do the work for you.

    About to go crush legs at Planet Fitness so I searched best Smith machine leg workout and this popped up. Normally I'm a traditional powerlifty gym bro so I had to see what kinds of things Smith machiners do, and this is awesome. Gonna try all five suggestions. Appreciate the great video!

    Hi, if I may ask, the gym I go to doesn't have a regular squat rack, only straight Smith machines. Between the regular back squat and the front squat, which of the two is safer on the knees on the Smith machine? Thank you.

    Only Issue I have is that my abs/core get fatigued at the same rate or faster than my quads when doing SM squats. Not sure if that happens to anyone else?

    There's no smith machine in the jungle Coach. Back pain wont stop me, its a weak mind that will. 10 sets of a 1rm freebar back squat every day, even if my back breaks. If kurt angle could win a gold medal with a broken frkn neck, I can back squat to a max with a broken spine bygawd.

      Yeah this looks.more like hack squat on a smith, but that variation on the smith does provide huge tension load at the bottom position provided that you pause 1 sec.
