Thanks for another great video, good balance of facts and fun. I really admire what you do and how you make it easy for people to turn vehicles they love into reliable, non polluting EV's. So when I saw you towards the end of Sunday at Everything Electric, I was a little awestruck, forgot my manners and barged into for selfie, for which I humbly apologise!
Bloody hell! I had no idea electric was so efficient at low speeds. I mean, it's just a no-brainer. I wonder if this planted the seed of an idea for others there? I really like those rooftop tents Jimmy has, that and a kayak = fun to be had.
Great stuff Richard & crew! Apart from the Michelin's that came on my new Disco back in 98', I've only used BFG All Terrains and love them . As I do less off road now, I have wondered about the Trail Terrains , and your road trip has convinced me to get them in a few months when my AT's need replacing! Also , hurry up and get a Disco 2 conversion kit done please 🙂 Cheers Gregg.
Hey Richard!! Wow, what a great video!! Lots of beautiful scenery and the (ELECTRIC) Land Rover showing off it's stuff big time!!! 🤩 All the best from Gene in Tennessee.
Temperature control and performance at altitude are big bonuses with this, it just makes things look so easy. Actually I've decided that I won't be satisfied now until you've made this remote control, seems like the logical next step!
These Defenders are really cool. Have you ever thought of converting some 80's pickup truck like the one in The Fall Guy or Back to the Future? Plenty of space for batteries I guess?
I've really enjoyed this series of videos of your off road trip to Spain. Looks amazing. Thanks for sharing all the stats, makes going electric a very compelling proposition... Thanks and take care..
Good stuff. Weather closing in a bit at the end there, and the windscreen was misting up quite a bit, better get one of those Pilkington Glass classic car heated windscreens before the Welsh winters kick in.
Thank you for another fascinating video, just a thought, would you guys ever make it to Cape Breton Nova Scotia? I am sure you would love the Cabot trail, no worries about the killer Bunnies you just have to watch out for the Grumpy Bears and park wardens. It is an incredible drive.
You deserve a statue somewhere. Hope in España we would have 2 or 3 guys like you converting old beauties to electric. At the moment Spain is in refusal and only people who know for sure get EVs
can you do a video explaining the optimal battery size/ weight to achieve the most efficient/ most range in your ev conversion? Is there a ratio or formula? You said your landy is similar weight to the original. What if you increase the size/ weight of the battery up to the point of diminishing efficiency? or are you already at the most efficient weight?
Half a tank, how many liters does that represent? Considering that one liter of Diesel is equivalent to 10kWh of electricity, that would give an idea of how hugely inefficient an internal combustion engine is.

@@ElectricClassicCars I believe I'm still missing something. When you reached your camp site how did you charge then. Did you have to go back into town?
lt would be great to see a few specs on your Landrover . Weight . Battery capacity . lt's clearly really capable. Also a comparison against better offroaders. Comparing to old petrol or diesel landrovers probably isn't that fair engine wise . You've upgraded your drive system with a modern " engine ". Maybe up against a modern standard Toyota or similar ? l reckon your rig would still do really well against a new vehicle but it would be interesting nonetheless. Great video btw. Very entertaining .
Did you see the story of the Electic car a Rivian R1 that got washed away in a US hurricane flood covered in mud right over the roof but the doors kept the water out ..... When they found it it had dried out outside so they started it and drove it home. 😳
This just shows how inefficient ice vehicles are off road: keeping a large engine with a lot of resistance running with barely any load, so low utilisation. Plus the clutch wasting energy. Whereas the electric motor does barely have any resistance and spins very slowly without a clutch wasting energy.
My car is better than your car is the core car culture, pointing out how the other guy’s Ferrari, Ford, Maserati is Just Wrong seems to be the point of owning a specci car. Thats what happening here. It is part of the fun.
Don’t be swayed by the propaganda churned out by vested interests. Try using an electric vehicle; range anxiety isn’t as much of a thing as you’d think. I’ve had ev for three years and infrastructure has improved vastly in this time.
Petrol vehicles will continue to burn fuel engine breaking down hill, however, EVs recover energy engine breaking. Imagine as technology improves in EV 4x4. The future looks brighter.
insane offroad efficiency
Looks like you had a blast! I'm jealousy. 😃

Thanks, and great to meet you at Everything Electric. 👍
I hope you get invited out to more events like this. Great content 👌
I hope so too!

amazing how little electric it used for the day i guess its why a milkfloat used to be really efficiant years ago delivering milk at low speeds
And all those strange vehicles that you see at the airport, on the apron. Slow manoeuvres and massive torque.
The ICE engines are running all the time, even when they are idling. The the EV gets regen downhill.
You could have asked other cars packing to be loaded into your's for downhill and you'd have recovered even more battery. xD

Right! Day One: The journey begins! Over there, peaceful Welsh countryside! 😋👍

Nice!! Love seeing you put the Rover to work!!
Both my wife and myself love your vehicle.
Bienvenido a España, me hubiera gustado conocerte, eres el mejor, I ❤ electrics cars

Looks like so much fun! I love your builds and seeing this one do so well is all the more delightful. Such beautiful country there in the Pyrenees.

I sooooo love your green machine! What a great adventure. That goat trail on the side of the mountain looked hairy!
EV for the Win!! 💪🏼💪🏼

Awesome results! 😊👍 👏👏👏

@2.3_44XD-- I wish here is Spain rules/law authorized conversions easily... lots of regulations and expenses.. 😮💨😮💨😮💨

Neat.

Not sure how many liters a Defender tank is. I’m sure Google will know. 👍

Perhaps I've missed it but, how are you charging out in the sticks? 🤔🙂.
It’s at the end of this episode. th-cam.com/video/VZCXEj9eOUg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BI36m0t87b_PPWT0

Energy is all about pushing air out of the way, and off road that’s negligible.
Somewhat predictable that the ICE vehicles were overheating.

Lots of videos on my Landy on our channel. 👍

Apples compared with oranges!
We already know the pence per mile of an EV is way better on road. Imagine how much that gap increases off road!

Exactly. You get it. 👍

I agree with you 100% Paula!!
stop giving me excuses for more cars
He who dies with the most toys wins. 😆👍
Love the landie, but would be great if you spent more time enjoying the electric and less time slating diesel.
ROFL.... he's just putting the record straight for the ICE fans who just won't accept the facts
My car is better than your car is the core car culture, pointing out how the other guy’s Ferrari, Ford, Maserati is Just Wrong seems to be the point of owning a specci car. Thats what happening here. It is part of the fun.
How stupid. This cowboy conversions should be banned.
Why? Care to explain your reasoning?
Cowboy conversions are banned. Electric Classic Cars has several videos on what regulations they follow to do these conversions.
You'll just get stuck with no charge

When’s that going happen then? Been driving EVs for 8 years off road now. 🤷♂️
Are you being funny? If not I'm guessing you didn't watch the video.
OP has no idea, obviously.
Petrol vehicles will continue to burn fuel engine breaking down hill, however, EVs recover energy engine breaking. Imagine as technology improves in EV 4x4. The future looks brighter.
Your videos are always original and of high quality. Thank you for your ability to inspire and surprise!🫦🦭🎩
