I am going to show my age here .... As a little kid growing up in the 1970's hanging around the old Hinsdale Airport, watching you guys fly out of there. I was on my bike on Madison St watching the H-19's (I believe, back then) take off .... and yes I am guilty of peeking into the "OLD Hangar" a few times for that up close look and saying "Hi" to someone inside. I believe I remember when you guys got your first S-58 or H-34. I thought they were Mil Surplus or just not painted ...... Hard to believe that was 50+ years ago.

Two questions for you; do you have a co-pilot just monitoring the instruments? Is the switch on collective a load timer? There is quite a bit of extra vibration when descending with a load. Great vid by the way.

      1. The Sikorsky 58T is about the biggest helicopter you have as single pilot, so no, no Co-pilot. @ 1:20, the PIC glances at the cockpit. The Camera does not provide 100% of what the pilot sees, but in that shot you can see the load scale at the bottom indicating 2140# load. Above that is the power turbine and rotor speed and above that out of view is the eng TQ, and above that is the Master caution light, these are all for quick reference. @ 3:41 you can see the PIC looking at the main gauges. We have all our gauges clocked so the needles are all pointing at the 9 o-clock position. That way, if something is out of norm, it will stand out. Below the gauges, is the main caution panel. 2. That is the counter for how many loads we are lifting for billing and for aircraft log cycles. The vibration is ETL and very normal for all helicopters, but pronounced in Sikorsky helicopters.

@@Midwesthelicopter Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions, it is appreciated. I have heard that turning gauges was common but I have only ever seen it on a Rotorways 162F exec (of all things). I hadn’t considered translation lift (or rather lack of it) as the reason for the vibration because I was thinking the helicopter never was out of the hover, but it makes total sense, keep those videos coming they are great 👍
