Sur ron is street legal if you choose the right model. I'm from Copenhagen, where we have very ridiculous traffic laws. Here it comes in 3 versions.. Smallest version 30kph, made to drive on cycle paths with number plate, no driving license.. Medium version 45kph, made to drive on the road with driving license.. Largest version, off-road, top speed unlocked, not legal on public roads....... The 2 street legal versions come with license plate holder and indicator light and that makes it look like something for a child... But there is a way around it, the 3 versions of Sur Ron where are in Denmark, are all with the same engine and battery. Top speed is locked because of an extra cable that is put in the bike, cut that and, you have a Sur Ron with top speed and "street legal" on license plates.... Maybe don't cut the cable, but put a switch on, so if the police stop you and want to check the bike, there is "nothing" wrong with it..
To be a valid EAPC in UK it has to have the motor manufacturer and wattage physically stated on the bike. As Sur Ron is way over 250W even with pedal kit and speed restriction it still won't be legal. Only legal route is model with brake lights, indicators etc with DVLA registration, licence, insurance etc. Can see the thrill of riding them but amazed people risking £3K+ on a bike that can very easily end up being confiscated and crushed by the police.
Really enjoy watching your content, I’m looking purchasing one shortly to commute to work and use on the local walks (respectably) what sort of range do you get with this sort of riding? Thankyou 😊
Thanks for your support!! It’s sounds really cliche but it really depends on how you ride it. I ride mine hard (off road, hill climbs) and cover on average 20miles per ride. I normally return with between 40-50% battery. That is also using sport mode the whole time. If you were to ride in eco you would get much better range. I hope that helps 👍
@@southcoastsurron wow, that’s impressive range tbh on the stock battery. I wanted to use it for my commute to work which is around 21 miles round trip. I feel a lot better knowing it should be able to do that while still having a bit of fun on it.
I have been on my e-scooter for 4 or so years, never had a problem with the feds and literally the other day I was on my way back from the shops going just over 10MPH (i only have a xiaomi 365 all standard) and a police car signalled me and flashed blues, it was a hot day no other cars on the road, I think they was just driving around bored and wanted something to do, luckily I was at an approach of an alley, got home clenching my arse together and looking over my shoulder. Yet I have had police pull over for me to pass? Weird AF, if the SUR RON was cheaper i'd get it just for an easy getaway, every time I go out now I am nervous af because if I get caught on a stretch of road I physically can't out speed them. Which will encourage dangerous manoeuvres by myself.
None of my bikes is road legal in the UK I've never been pulled over maybe because I don't ride them like a hooligan and I respect the Pedestrians and road users

Every one’s gangsta until court slaps you with the full £5000 fine and six points. They literally fine for Each non compliant aspect. No m/c crash hat, no insurance, unregistered, construction and use regs, mot, licence plus pavement riding if applicable. Oddly pavement riding only, attracts a max £500 fine.

I’m on the Southcoast near Southampton so not a million miles away. I guess it depends on how and where you are riding. Lots of people commenting saying they will seize the bike and have it crushed or you will get a huge fine. Iv not known anyone had these actions taken against them yet but I guess time will tell with how popular these bikes are becoming. 👊
It’s illegal to ride an electric motorcycle on UK roads without a licence or insurance. If you get caught riding an electric motorcycle without the appropriate licence, then you could receive a fine of up to £1,000. Three to six penalty points may also be added to any licence which you currently hold. If you are caught riding an electric motorcycle without insurance, then you could get a fixed penalty of £100. Your motorcycle could also be wheel-clamped, impounded or destroyed. You could also face a court prosecution, leading to a possible maximum fine of £1,000. The penalties can be greater if you are caught riding an electric motorcycle when you are missing both a licence and insurance. You could face a fine of up to £5,000 plus other punishments including a ban on acquiring a licence for a period of time.
Yep….folk don’t realise it’s not ONE fine…it is an accumulation of upto six separate fines. Insurance being the biggest, but court will add, no helmet, no licence, throttle, construction and use regs, registration, mot. This is how it gets to five grand…no joke.
Fact: If it can travel faster than 15mph in any mode then it is illegal to use on any public accessible highway/footpath/bridleway, though can be used on private property. The police are too lazy to stop the illegal use of Electric Bikes.
After what’s just happened in Birmingham I think the Police will give these a wide birth, they won’t want to pursuit or have chance of a pursuit. In the north east the police already have this mindset when it comes to crosser bikes, they just don’t attempt to pursue them.
Im adding the Kaniwaba seat/dropper post setup as well as the pedal kit to tone down the motocross bike look. No decal kits for me, maybe handle barend streamers will keep the haters at bay. Its really ironic that in my area illegals are running around in cars with no documentation. But I should have to worry about my illegal bike riding activities...ooh ooh ! "Deliver me" as my pops used to say. No wonder bike gangs form. Stay safe and free out there you e bike banditos. Boston Mike

Agreed, it's only a matter of time. In London, the plod are savy because of all the scooter-vilains that have used them in the past. Riding one of these without a lid and a plate is now an easy nick, you wouldn't get more than a few miles. Obviously things are a bit different on the sout coast, where the sun always shines and common sence prevails.🤣
Nope , throttle nope. Over 250w nope. you know it but want clicks. You can't have an on the fly full power switch. A bike is legal or it's not. madness here but will hopefully change. there is no grey.
We live in a lazy world as today - you can hire a dog walker, a lawn cutting, iron/cleaning maids, order take a ways, even have your car cleaned, now folk do not want to walk or cycle - they want electric power to take them where they want!, which will/could result in many going obese - Sorry but that is a fact with many, but I am sure many out there still have the energy to watch their calories - Cant say you weren't warned!
In the UK these clowns were able to make a petrol bike that does over 300km/h legal but not able to legalize one of these electric bikes. What a joke these medieval politicians and old chickens!
In the UK, where this was shot, this bike is legal on private land. It is not street legal without registration, lights, mirrors etc. You would also need an appropriate motorcycle driving licence and insurance. Which would make you subject to all the rules in the highway code. Including the need for a crash helmet and not to be riden off road, such as on pavements. It's a sweet lightweight bike, so this is a pia. Using the pedal kit as a smoke screen is smart, until you get caught. Which will be easy, at the speeds typically demonstrated here. Along with being charged with breaking various laws, you would also be held personally responsible for any damage you are found to have caused. No gray areas. Information that is becoming much more commonly known. Even to plod. Who obviously have 'better things to do'.🤣 I would suggest deleting these vids, before some grumpy git sends them to plod. Who might get the time in their busy shcedule to pull you over one morning, on the way to work.👍 I think 'South Coast' is debatably a decent chap but, having riden motorcycles for a long time, I can't condone what is being shown here. I suspect if it was a derestricted, 50cc motocrosser (nearest conventional comparison?), doing exactly the same, most folk would see it as irresponsible, dangerous, and ilegal. Which sadly, it is.
I have one and I’ve seen loads of police, I’ve stopped police and spoken to them on multiple occasions on my bike with the same kit and I’ve went through the laws and talked with them about my Sur-Ron and what I have installed. It’s even insured for theft and damage as an EBIKE from an insurers. It qualifies as an ebike, therefore it’s allowed, to be rode, as an ebike. -It’s restricted to 15.5mph -That restricts the wattage being put out to the UK maximum. -It’s an pedal assisted motor.
@@michaelwhalen7991 Oh the irony! I promise I would love to get out more but refuse to give up bath night. I've riden motorcycles for the last forty years, competed in both on and off road competition. Just spent the weekend working on both my bikes, getting them ready for the summer season. Around the time you wrote that comment, I was snow boarding one of the hardest slopes in Austria, then went base jumping in Norway.🤣 While I would be the first to agree that no one should blindly 'obey', we owe it to ourselves, to understand our personal responsibilities, to the rest of society. Have fun and stay safe.😉
Essentially 100% illegal unless you have a CBT and have the road legal version. If you have a surron and put pedals on it and go anything over 15mph and that has been recorded, you are fucked. Then again, drug dealers and murderers are the main concern. Dont forget that you can just cover your face and go down any sort of tight roads to escape/avoid the boys in blue anyways 👍😂
I would thought following the actual rules of the road would be better than doing what you are doing in this video. You're on the road sometimes, you're up on the pavement whenever it suits you, cutting across greens etc... you are bound to annoy just about everyone doing this.
Peddle kit mitigation? Mate you are fooling yourself. Seriously! Here’s the law….max 250 watt motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, no throttle and max 36volt battery. Fail on ANY ONE of those and the whole machine becomes illegal as it falls out of the eapc category and become a moped or m/c. Police use a huge latitude of discretion..but you only need ONE over zealous copper and you could be facing fines for EACH non-compliance with law, totalling upto £5000 plus six penalty points.
A copper stopping one of these isn't being 'overzealous', they're just doing their job. The problem is the police have to balance the risks to the rider and the public, so often have to give up a pursuit. The police are being responsible, unlike those who ride illegal e-bikes on the road on the pavement and anywhere they like. Shows a complete disregard for other people and the law.
Look up common law. RIGHTS TO TRAVEL. All that you just said is wrong. You don't need licence insurance mot none of it people just don't look. Look for your self. Its not even in the road traffic act. Not that acts stand in a court of law
Hey man. Thanks for your comment. EAPC must have pedals that can be used to propel it. It must show either: the power output the manufacturer of the motor It must also show either: the battery’s voltage the maximum speed of the bike Its electric motor: must have a maximum power output of 250 watts should not be able to propel the bike when it’s travelling more than 15.5mph. These are the clear guidelines stated by the dvla. Any electric bike that does not meet the EAPC rules is classed as a motorcycle or moped and needs to be registered and taxed. You’ll need a driving licence to ride one and you must wear a crash helmet.

@@southcoastsurron is that on stock battery or is yours upgraded?
@@theclickbaitdetective9196 This is just the 60v stock battery for the moment
@@southcoastsurron wow, that’s impressive range tbh on the stock battery.
I wanted to use it for my commute to work which is around 21 miles round trip. I feel a lot better knowing it should be able to do that while still having a bit of fun on it.
@@theclickbaitdetective9196 yeah you will be absolutely fine!
It would only be legal if it was restricted to 15mph I would have thought.
There is a fully road legal version available from Surron.
Same, I've got a 2000w motor on the back wheel of my mountain bike, I ride appropriately just going to and from work never had any issues.
@Jude Price you are so right Jude you only have to know when and where to have fun and when to respect the road
@@ashpunting I limited it via the display to 30mph top speed when on the road. When off road like in the woods or whatever I unlock it and get about 38-40mph.
100% agree. Unfortunately not everyone shares our opinion which is a shame.
Keep up the good work bro amazing video once again 👍
Thanks bro. Appreciate the support!!
People are you tired of the control being told everything you can and can't do? You can do whatever you want if you pay for it
So with your logic selling drugs is ok as long as you buy them first?

No m/c crash hat, no insurance, unregistered, construction and use regs, mot, licence plus pavement riding if applicable. Oddly pavement riding only, attracts a max £500 fine.
I’m really tempted to buy one of these bikes I’ve seen they are very expensive around the 4k mark , just wondered how much you paid for yours ? And I must say very well put together video

👍
Yep….folk don’t realise it’s not ONE fine…it is an accumulation of upto six separate fines. Insurance being the biggest, but court will add, no helmet, no licence, throttle, construction and use regs, registration, mot. This is how it gets to five grand…no joke.
What bars are they ?
Nice 👍
It's a shame because people can ride them pretty much anywhere in the states.
The point is not to have to register and all that
👍
Delfast Top 3.0 is road legal apparently lol
And that thing can go up to 50mph!!!
Aren’t the like £7k ?? Lol.
@@southcoastsurron yeah lol 🤣
Fact: If it can travel faster than 15mph in any mode then it is illegal to use on any public accessible highway/footpath/bridleway, though can be used on private property. The police are too lazy to stop the illegal use of Electric Bikes.
After what’s just happened in Birmingham I think the Police will give these a wide birth, they won’t want to pursuit or have chance of a pursuit.
In the north east the police already have this mindset when it comes to crosser bikes, they just don’t attempt to pursue them.
What happened in Birmingham??
Even a "pedal cycle" isn't allowed on the pavement ... So WTF are you doing on it
Hay enjoy the video am thinking of getting a surron wots the best starter bike plus money is a object 😂
Thanks man. I have a video coming out tomorrow morning that will run through the Sur Ron and all the FAQ. You should find your answer in that video 👊
Im adding the Kaniwaba seat/dropper post setup as well as the pedal kit to tone down the motocross bike look. No decal kits for me, maybe handle barend streamers will keep the haters at bay. Haha no worries man. Hope this kind of explains it. Issue I’d down to the battery unfortunately
coppers will have that off you in no time. they have a real hatred towards surrons and electric scooters. its stopped me from getting one. its just not worth having it seized.
nope
Depends where you live I suppose .. I’m in the south wales valleys had no trouble from police just ride sensibly when near built up areas … even in the city they just let them go as too much hassle or they know there’s no hope of catching them
@@leopoldstotch3524 round my way cops love taking them off the kids and proudly displaying them on their facebook page. i would love to get one but no way am i letting some pig take it off me.
They care way less about e scooters, had one for 3 years and ride past the police at least 5 times a day and they dont care at all.
Where did you buy it?
I got mine send hand. ✌️
Hi, what seller did you get it from which sells it with the pedal kit?
Whats the fastest surron what speed
Mine is around 47mph
Are they street legal or not?
Not
Nope , throttle nope. Over 250w nope. you know it but want clicks. You can't have an on the fly full power switch. A bike is legal or it's not. madness here but will hopefully change. there is no grey.
Every time U USE ur throttle is illegal idgaf cos I ride 12KW and never chucking pedals on it 😂😂😂
That’s a motorbike as far as I’m concerned.
👍
There's absolutely no grey area. You're riding an electric motorcycle on roads and pavements illegally.
Hahaha. I don’t think people are buying Sur Ron’s because they are lazy 😂
i want to get an e bike but i dont really understand the law about it so if anyone could help i would appreciate it
Check out my latest video. This will explain the legality in a bit more detail.
In the UK these clowns were able to make a petrol bike that does over 300km/h legal but not able to legalize one of these electric bikes. What a joke these medieval politicians and old chickens!
💯
Like you said as long as you don't drive like a twat you should be fine
💯
Majority of police wont bother you but you always get the over zealous few.
They can pull you any time and have it crushed, throttle and motor not legal. So much money to throw away.
👍
he said "35 subscribers" i look down and hes over 500😂
Haha the video is 4 months old 👍
why not convert to a 45kmh version and just cut the wire bet you the police wont notice unless you drive pass them at 75
👍
This vid is a year old…..hope you’ve ‘brushed up’ on the law since then..
Who obviously have 'better things to do'.🤣
I would suggest deleting these vids, before some grumpy git sends them to plod. Who might get the time in their busy shcedule to pull you over one morning, on the way to work.👍
I think 'South Coast' is debatably a decent chap but, having riden motorcycles for a long time, I can't condone what is being shown here. I suspect if it was a derestricted, 50cc motocrosser (nearest conventional comparison?), doing exactly the same, most folk would see it as irresponsible, dangerous, and ilegal. Which sadly, it is.
That’s the risk you take buying them, take them off road on quiet country parks trails etc or don’t get caught riding on road lol
Have some guts and a little fun instead of being sooo obedient !
Live alittle !
@@michaelwhalen7991 how can you ‘live a little’ if you are in prison after hitting someone on one of these?
I have one and I’ve seen loads of police, I’ve stopped police and spoken to them on multiple occasions on my bike with the same kit and I’ve went through the laws and talked with them about my Sur-Ron and what I have installed. It’s even insured for theft and damage as an EBIKE from an insurers. It qualifies as an ebike, therefore it’s allowed, to be rode, as an ebike.
-It’s restricted to 15.5mph
-That restricts the wattage being put out to the UK maximum.
Around the time you wrote that comment, I was snow boarding one of the hardest slopes in Austria, then went base jumping in Norway.🤣
While I would be the first to agree that no one should blindly 'obey', we owe it to ourselves, to understand our personal responsibilities, to the rest of society.
Have fun and stay safe.😉
It’ll never be road legal as long as people keep riding them on the pavement and in parks. You want it street legal, ride like it’s a street vehicle
👍
Electric bikes must have European type approval, all sur ron don't have this but can be road registered.
👍
Its 100% illegal
👍
I would thought following the actual rules of the road would be better than doing what you are doing in this video. You're on the road sometimes, you're up on the pavement whenever it suits you, cutting across greens etc... you are bound to annoy just about everyone doing this.
Its more fun to break the boundaries
My Z900 is an eapc because it has pedals on officer!
👮🚓🚨
Your riding on footpaths and pavements , effectively on. An illegal vehicle, no licence insurance either i would imagine.
Shows a complete disregard for other people and the law.
pedal kit is worthless.
It must show either:
the power output
the manufacturer of the motor
It must also show either:
the battery’s voltage
the maximum speed of the bike
Its electric motor:
must have a maximum power output of 250 watts
should not be able to propel the bike when it’s travelling more than 15.5mph.
These are the clear guidelines stated by the dvla.
Any electric bike that does not meet the EAPC rules is classed as a motorcycle or moped and needs to be registered and taxed. You’ll need a driving licence to ride one and you must wear a crash helmet.
