This is the Video that convinced me the little tiny 2.7 ecoboost in a F150 could get the job done, Nathan who is a drag racer at heart said this lil engine has guts with a sinister laugh, nearly 2 years of owning this truck, not one problem, will fly and gets 20.4 all day long. In my opinion TFL got it right.
I'll be the first to admit I have been the Eco Boosts biggest hater. BUT..after driving a 2018 2.7 Liter FX4 Supercrew I was honestly surprised at how nice and quite the ride was. When the boost kicks in it actually got some chuckles out of me. It Was Good!

Hi im in England and have just change my car from the 1.6l Petrol Focus to the tiny 3cyl 1.0l Turbocharged EcoBoost engine and i just can't believe how much quicker the 1 Litre Eco compared to the 1.6l feels. Also i love the sound of my new 1 Litre EcoBoost Focus, it just sounds more sporty. Last thing to mention on the Focus is the 6 Speed Manual is just an awesome match to the engine. I absolutely love these EcoBoost engines, lets hope they turn out to be reliable in the long run and last as well as the zetecs.
first off I want to thank you guys, that was a fun video. Plan on upgrading my old F-150 to this and I watched a ton of videos on this 2.7, plan on going from Florida to Colorado and beyond Towing a 5000 loaded trailer and this looks like the truck for me. Thanks again
9 months 12000 miles on my STX Crew Cab with 4wd, so far love the truck, compared to my old Tacoma’s it’s like a limo as far as comfort and gets better fuel economy. I’ll never go off roading or need to pull 10000 lbs., Love my full size truck, Ford GM or RAM nothing beats a full size pickup truck!
just bought a 2016 V6 Ford F150 with the Ecoboost engine and even though I can't pull a Space Shuttle the acceleration on this truck is quick and responsive
I have a 2013 XLT Crew Cab with the 3.5L Ecoboost and I couldn't be happier!!! I'm at 70,000 and I have not had any issues with it at all. Congrats!! Both you guys have really brought your 'A' game to these reviews.. A lot more substance to your reviews than just 4-6 months ago.. Really enjoy watching and value both your opinions.. Having a hard time deciding which truck of the big 3 builders I want.. In that respect you're making it more difficult....
This truck is a beast and has enough power to get out of control. It surpasses my Dodge V8 in power and performance. And I'm not a Ford man. I was going to buy another Dodge but decided to drive one of these. Slam-dunk. No comparison. The technology is off the chart. I can see all the competition following this very soon. I saw the aluminum bed commercial but figured I'd be using a bed liner anyhow so it was a mute issue. I drove it cross country after purchase 2 mos ago and it was flawless with no issues. Power was great, it hauled lots of weight, and it was quiet and handled well. I have not used it to tow so I cannot comment. Mine came with the tow package including anti-sway, brake adjustment, rear camera and auto backup maneuvering. I would not have opted for the tow stuff as I don't tow often. I couldn't find one with rubber floor that did not have the tow pkg. And I couldn't find one with vinyl seats at all as of April 2017 so I assume the model year production had already ended. This is a very popular truck/engine. Order early in the new model year to get your choice of options.
I just bought the F150 Supercrew FX4 a few weeks ago. It has the 3.5 eco. I was concerned a bit but LOVE the engine now. PLUS, my dealer gave me a lifetime (1 owner) warranty on engine, drivetrain and turbo, so it's a nice way to go. Nonetheless, I'd be VERY concerned about something this small. The 3.5 is so impressive though, I'd love to check this thing out and see what it can do. That 3.5 is amazing. Also.....my company runs 20+ F150's with ecoboost engines in them. The trucks have over 150,000 miles on them and not a single one has had any serious issues. Not one.
Yeah and they can take that warranty away too! Just use an aftermarket oil filter! If it doesn't say ford motor craft you can piss that warranty away. I'm a ford mechanic:)

I was on the fence about subscribing until I noticed that Nathan had on a Steelers hat and had the guts to wear it in Texas. Us Steelers fans need to stick together. Go Steelers!!!! What Cowboys, you mad you only have five rings?
First off, im a loyal chevy guy. Had some bad experiences in the past with Ford which drove me away from them but i have to say that i think they made a great move with those ecoboost engines (even though there isnt anything eco about their 3.5). Got to tow my buddies bass boat with it (nothing heavy, maybe 3-4k) and the torque down low from the turbos is great. Very responsive. I think that their 2.7 is the big winner though. Gonna get solid mpg's and is plenty for most light duty guys who dont tow that much or all the time. Good work Ford, didnt turn me away from Chevy but i did double take lol.
The ecodiesel is nocompetition at all!!! I sell them for a living and they dont sell because they are to expensive to beggin with and for maintance and lack of powet
Miguel Gonzalez They don't sell? Then why is RAM increasing them from 10 to 20% of 1500 production? Ram has also requested VM Motori to ramp up production. A quick google and you'll see that the ecodiesel exceeded Ram's expectation and they can't keep them on the lots. You're either lying about being a Ram salesman, or you're a terrible seller.
Well if that's the case sorry Ford Absolute Fail on you all ' s part! Only a loyal Ford owner would choose this truck over the Ram Ecodiesal, Ram seriously is ahead of the game, everyone else is obviously playing catch up, such as building trucks out of Beer Cans! Sorry I couldn't resist. Ha
What bugged me with the 2015, was the interior. The F150 interior was WAY behind Chevy and Dodge's trucks. Too many plastics and fake wood trim. But I guess that's how they managed to use aluminum and lower the price. EDIT: it has a $51,000 sticker price, so I expected a higher quality interior. 51K is a lot to pay for fake wood trim and padded rubber dash.
plastic & fake wood ? ok i own a 2004 lariat f-150 ( with wood interior ) took it to off-road , towed & payloaded with it & mistakenly slammed couple speed bumps not even hearing crack loud sound unlike my friend one cab chevy 1500 Z71 don't wanna be in it when go off-road crack sounds coming everywhere even my another friend owns cab & half 2500 Z71 HD & that truck have PLASTIC bumpers while it's LT not LTZ model he has FOX air suspensions on too but funny thing is on road he better not any cracks or come cross speed bumps in the street otherwise loud sounds gonna come out from everywhere ( he doesn't even take it off-road too much like 3 or 5 times in a year ) besides all of them use plastic & we did knocks on them from outside to inside & we found ford & dodge trucks interior have thicker plastic while chevy had lighter plastic but somehow we found out even cab & half trucks can lose their parts faster then one cab & double cab trucks .
Sanic that was the truth so don't try to turn this around & have you even tried it yet or you just judging from the look ? tundra have more problems with their C channel frame over the the interior .
Sanic which model you driven ? there are 12 or 15 models of the the F-150 & if they have too much plastic in them then how did my 2004 lariat still in one piece without making too much noise than my friend chevy trucks & just look at this chevy ltz , high country interior has too much plastic in them so as for ram few trucks models for being luxuries .
That's right, cos they enjoy it so much when they get to "test" it after working on it. If I were a mechanic, I'd also get excited about the EcoBoost or any big turbo diesel.
+northlander I've been a GM guy for life but since these idiots didn't put the real v8 ( 6.2 ecotec3 ) in their trucks I got a tuner truck, think about that the 6.2 di ecotec v8 comes in like 2 packages High Country and 1 gmc model unless it was ordered that way they are scarce. I already have a 640 hp 4 cyl turbo that I built. Turbo's don't scare me as long as they are used in their application and it's not exceeded. It's when you tune, and start to modify shit when things start to get interesting. Oil and water cooled ball bearing turbos are reliable. Just like in the turbo diesel trucking industry. Ford sells the 3.5 to fleets for a reason. Couple bigger snails this 3.5 will do 500 HP and with my new 2015 It's for sure a thrill ride. I love the feeling of the boost coming from a boosted car its like a fucking GTR of pickups . I don't haul a a lot trailer wise, to me this truck is bad ass and I am a die hard chevy person.
What do you mean finally caught up to GM and RAM on interior TFL? It wasn't until 2013 that RAM was even a real contender. Chevy oh please 2014 put them on part with current f150 at best. F150 was way better for awhile and here they are taking crown again.
Some people who say it will be weak are ignorant because this is less weight and it has pretty good torque so it is pretty strong There are also a whole bunch of new things like a side step and ramps on the back and 100 new patents
With the Mustang they have to satisfy the older generations that believe in a more traditional car while still trying to bring some modern technology to the battlefield. Ford wants the V8 car to be the top dog, period. That is what Mustang has always been about and when they tried 20 years ago to revolutionize the Mustang they found out how much people like the car they are already building--que the birth of the Mercury Cougar rather than the new Mustang. Talk as much smack as you want about the Mustang but they are built to meet customer demand.
SilverRaven1959 I like ford but what you say is also my biggest complaint about them. They refuse to change something that has better potential when they have the resources and the means, because they are worried about losing their heritage. Stupid really, same reason we won't see an AWD Focus RS here in the states, because it would give the mustang a run for its money and would likely be a better sports car. I just wish Ford would stop being stuck in the past
I'm looking forward to a full comparison test with the 2015 Navigator and 2015 Escalade from you guys. Hopefully you can get those trucks up to Colorado soon. Keep up the good work.
desertfox2020 Define "rust", aluminum has an oxidation layer on top of it that prevents further corrosion. Also, oxidation=rust , so technically everything from aluminum cans to CPU heat sinks have a layer of oxidation on them. Go scratch the top of a soda can, on the rim, and see how shiny it is, leave it sit for a while (couple hours/days) and check it again, the freshly scratched areas won't be as shiny any more because they developed a new layer of oxidation. Well, that's my fun fact for the day :D
It's rust resistant, but aluminum is light and rust resistant but it's very pliable. So I haven't heard about anyone in an accident in one but I'm assuming that the aluminum body will crunch like a tin can making it a weak truck. Trucks should be like tanks not safety boxes with crumple zones.
Jimmy M How do you know the aluminum alloys they used in the F150 is the same grade as your tin can? There are currently 8 series of aluminum alloys. And in each, there are sub-grades. Aluminum alloys usually have more stiffness vs steel of the same thickness.
SB N Steel has been proven to be reliable and tough not as rust resistant though yes. Again no one will know how reliable or tough these aluminum bodies are until someone gets into a wreck with one of these trucks. Until then no one really knows if its any good or not.
At first, I hated the Eco boost engine, but now I realized it's the replacement of the v8. It burns less gas, but is faster & more powerful than the v8.
Depending on EPA and LTR, this might replace my Navigator when I'm less broke. It SEEMS like the best of all worlds so far. N&R are averaging, with their hot dogging style, better than I get on pure highway cruising at 68mph.
Ford have painted themselves into corner with the Mustang. They want a V8 as the top dog (horse), but their V8 isn't that powerful. Their 3 ecoboost engines could all blow the doorhandles off the GT. They can't even offer an ecoboost V6.
MrKeyboardCommando I raced a 2009 GT the other night (4.6l) in my EcoBoost F150 FX2 (3.5l) and beat him to 60mph, even though it was barely, both me and that gentleman were impressed!
MrKeyboardCommando I think all that needs to be said is, 'you're stupid'. There are no measurables that support anything you've said and their v-8 is very competitive with the competitions offerings and has plenty room for more power. Did you even think about anything you've said?
Could this 2.7L package be tested with a slightly larger tire package. The kind of tire package which would make the truck look more aggressive without jacking it up. I'd like to see to see the drag, larger tires & wheels, would create on the overall performance of the unit.
This, or a ram 1500 ecodiesel for hauling an 8,000 lb boat & trailer up 10,000 feet elevation? Our 2004 Yukon XL Denali has handled everything we threw at it, but better fuel economy would be nice
Im getting a truck for my 16 year old son and I will be sharing it with him for various duties/reasons. We like to go offloading and he will use it to drive to school, he is a Hockey/Football player. Probably a light weight truck that can still tow our Malibu 20 foot boat. I am 6'5 and 260 and he is supposed to even be my size. We go camping mountain biking, hunting, and on road trips a lot together. We live in suburbs of Denver and go to the mountains all year long. My father in law has a house in the mountains by Granby and we go there all summer pretty much. My wife just got the Tahoe fully loaded and the interior and all the features in that are awesome, I have heard the ram 1500 is great too especially the Rebel, but I am open to anything and prefer the off road package on it. Thanks. Any recommendations? This will be mainly his but I will use it too. I used to have a 1993 f150 and had to ditch it with all my kids. I now drive a 2011 GMC Yukon Denali XL. Please give recommendations. Thank you.
What about the auto start / stop tech? Would like to know if it has the same problems of quick acceleration like the chevy does with its cylinder deactivation.
How much lighter is this vehicle vs the last ecoboost of the same size from last year? I get that the engines are different I just want to know how much weight is saved...I've heard it was over 700 pounds.
That 700 pound figure is thrown around a lot, but I believe it only refers to the heaviest models (crew cab, 4x4, etc). A typical configuration will not achieve anywhere near that reduction.
I don't understand the disparity in the truck market between different companies. I mean personally i've never been a ford fan, but have nothing against them. I've always preferred the ride of my GMs. That is just my experience, as is our luck with fords vs GM. We've had worse luck with fords. If i were to own one or want one, it would be an F-250 or a Raptor. Two rapidly different trucks but it's my favorite looking fords. I love our F-250s aesthetics. I hate it's ride, which i could deal with but we've had lots of mechanical problems out of it as well. I think we just got a lemon. Do i like that GM is owned by the gov't, no hell no absolutely not. I still like their trucks though. When looking for a new truck though i don't honestly go to a dealership with a closed mind that i'm not going to look at anything but GM. Toyota makes a good truck as well. My point is like what you like, be passionate about it, but don't knock all the other brands just because you don't like em. To act as if either company has never had problems or recalls is ludicrous. Technology wise, ford is ahead of GM bar none at least in terms of delivering power/torque while saving MPG. GM is kind of stuck in the past, i don't mind it but i hope to see them make some advancements. Cylinder deactivation isn't bad, while you can drive to get the numbers they're posting, you really have to play that MPG game. If you drive like a normal person your looking at 13-15 city, 16-19 highway, in stock configuration. Put tires, level, tune, and a CAI you might can counter the weight of the tires with some more power and manage 15-17 highway in flat lands.
I'm surprised that the steering wheel isn't square with a corner cut to it like EVERY other surface and trim piece is. Cutting the corners isn't usually a good thing...

There's no one truck that will satisfy everyone. If you haul, buy a truck designed to haul. There are plenty of diesel and V8 options still available. No one is forcing anyone to buy a smaller engine, it's just an "option". Regarding this, the smaller engine option Ford is offering is to satisfy folks who use trucks as daily drivers but don't tow all the time. And there are plenty of them around...see dozens of these just around my neighborhood. I work in the oil patch and sometimes haul dirty equipment that does not belong in the trunk of a car. I tried it for a few years...and it sucks. Every now and then I get a scoop of top soil or gravel for yard projects. I chose the 3.5 liter ecoboost as sometimes haul a work trailer from sea level to 5000 feet. The 3.5 liter pulls the trailer easily. If not for the trailer, then I would be ok with the 2.7 liter. As far as looks, to each his own. I think Ford and Dodge make the best looking truck now, inside and out. However, I used to be a die hard Chevy fan but got bored and decided to try something new. Opinions are like belly buttons, we all have them.
It's pretty crazy how whoever was driving before he went into the rear seat is comfortable with the back of the drivers seat at almost a 90 degree angle and seems to be just a few inches away from the steering wheel....
Interesting new engine.....Very impressed with the torque figures as "torque moves metal". I'm also a big Ford fan, but this truck is ugly to me....but that of course is entirely subjective and has no bearing on how well this truck in engineered or built. As a mechanic/supervisor of a fleet of close to 3,000 Ford Crown Vics, it would be curious to see what the cost to replace parts on both Eco boost engines will be down the road when they are out of warranty. Thanks TFL guys for the vid...
Its kinda funny, with our 2012 f350 fully loaded hunk of diesel, we average 18 mpg. We are not granny drivers either, with 800+ torque and 400+ hp the truck does great. This quick little v6 in a full size truck gets roughly the same mpg. You would expect this to get in the mid to high 20s and the Silverado being able to shut down injectors can get 35mph highway, so fords economist needs to step up there a game and use some of Chevys ideas with shutting down injectors or cylinders to get in the mid 30s, seriously come on ford ecos...you can do better
The Fast Lane Car The Fast Lane Truck When will Y'all be able to do a Test Drive/Review of the 2015 Mustang in Colorado? If u don't know at least let me know when Y'all are doing it! Thanks!
While I do like the size of the cab I ain't to sure about all that aluminum and such a small motor! I like the idea that it seems like a regular size bed and not real short though. As for motor maybe turbo charge a 4 litter motor as a compromise. Maybe I'm paranoid but if the turbo's go out at a bad time that's an all full small motor.
Light weight truck and towing? Those two things don't go together. The tow rating on this truck is probably 8 to 9000 pounds, keep in mind this is a full size. Most mid sized trucks are rated for 7 to 8000. This truck is a way more expensive mid size truck that wants to be a full size.
Ram made the right choice on making a smaller diesel rather that a turbo 4 banger that runs on premium gas. Chevy also had a smaller diesel made for the silverado 1500 back in 08/09 but then they went bankrupt. I cant wait too see the ecoboosts turbos start going lol

I was on the fence about subscribing until I noticed that Nathan had on a Steelers hat and had the guts to wear it in Texas. Us Steelers fans need to stick together. Go Steelers!!!! What Cowboys, you mad you only have five rings?
I really, really want to see how it compares to the 3.5 ecoboost towing.
I just bought a 2014 3.5 Ecoboost FX4 for a great price but will likely trade it in for the 2.7 with the 10 speed in a few years.
Just wait until this engine goes into a F-150 with Ford's new 10 speed automatic.
Your dreams came true
@@Aggressive_Splooge loll
The 10 speeds are a bist😩😩😥😢
called it
The last time a full size truck had a 2.7 liter engine option was the Toyota T-100. It was a 4 cylinder, and a not-quite full size truck.
There's no doubt this engine was made to directly compete with Ram's ecodiesel, but minus the cost of diesel/diesel maintenance.
Miguel Gonzalez
Have you seen the production changes?
Stupid Ford fan-boy.
TommyGun Thank God he doesn't Spell for a living vs Selling haha
51K is a lot to pay for fake wood trim and padded rubber dash.
plastic & fake wood ? ok i own a 2004 lariat f-150 ( with wood interior ) took it to off-road , towed & payloaded with it & mistakenly slammed couple speed bumps not even hearing crack loud sound unlike my friend one cab chevy 1500 Z71 don't wanna be in it when go off-road crack sounds coming everywhere even my another friend owns cab & half 2500 Z71 HD & that truck have PLASTIC bumpers while it's LT not LTZ model he has FOX air suspensions on too but funny thing is on road he better not any cracks or come cross speed bumps in the street otherwise loud sounds gonna come out from everywhere ( he doesn't even take it off-road too much like 3 or 5 times in a year ) besides all of them use plastic & we did knocks on them from outside to inside & we found ford & dodge trucks interior have thicker plastic while chevy had lighter plastic but somehow we found out even cab & half trucks can lose their parts faster then one cab & double cab trucks .
mohammadkwt Sry I offended you f150 fan-boy.
But the 2015 has a cheap interior.
The tundra is still worse though.
Sanic
that was the truth so don't try to turn this around & have you even tried it yet or you just judging from the look ? tundra have more problems with their C channel frame over the the interior .
mohammadkwt I just test drove the big 3 at a anaheim car show.
F150 had WAY 2 much plastic.
Sanic
which model you driven ? there are 12 or 15 models of the the F-150 & if they have too much plastic in them then how did my 2004 lariat still in one piece without making too much noise than my friend chevy trucks & just look at this chevy ltz , high country interior has too much plastic in them so as for ram few trucks models for being luxuries .
ECOBOOST MAKES AUTO MECHANICS HAPPY

Good looking truck. I'd like to see one with the off road package.
What do you mean finally caught up to GM and RAM on interior TFL? It wasn't until 2013 that RAM was even a real contender. Chevy oh please 2014 put them on part with current f150 at best. F150 was way better for awhile and here they are taking crown again.
Some people who say it will be weak are ignorant because this is less weight and it has pretty good torque so it is pretty strong
There are also a whole bunch of new things like a side step and ramps on the back and 100 new patents
I bet u this 2.7L ecoboost will still do better than the chevy an dodge on the ike guantlet
THIS is the EcoBoost that they should have put in the Mustang lol
Too heavy.
SilverRaven1959
I like ford but what you say is also my biggest complaint about them.
MrFalconfly that's what I said!!! not worth the extra 400 cc's!
Ford put the 2.3EB in the Mustang since the Mustang is also sold in Europe and elsewhere where larger engines are heavily taxed.
I'm looking forward to a full comparison test with the 2015 Navigator and 2015 Escalade from you guys. Hopefully you can get those trucks up to Colorado soon. Keep up the good work.
Just ordered a regular cab short box 2wd with 2.7 and 10 speed with 3:73 gears.... :-) Fast? Yup!!
Extremely good throtle response, Ford put this engine in the Mustang, U ll have buyers queued up for that model
Nice Truck, gives me thought on letting go my 2008 Sport trac Adrenalin in Red for this F150.
Zero to 60 in 6.5 seconds according to Motor Trend with the 2.7. I remember when V8 Mustangs and Camaros struggled to achieve that.
more like 5.5 seconds now
That thing is faster than Ferraris when I was growing up.
Great video!
Great truck.
I hope it won't rust.
It's aluminum...it can't rust
desertfox2020 Define "rust", aluminum has an oxidation layer on top of it that prevents further corrosion.
Great review guys. A little repetitive in spots but overall good video! Glad it was longer too.
At first, I hated the Eco boost engine, but now I realized it's the replacement of the v8. It burns less gas, but is faster & more powerful than the v8.
did ford use aluminum on the 2014 f150 to like for instance the tailgate it feels lighter then other f150
Damn that truck is pretty quick for only being a 2.7Eco. I've seen hemis and denalis put out the same numbers that tiny engine laid down
Depending on EPA and LTR, this might replace my Navigator when I'm less broke. It SEEMS like the best of all worlds so far. N&R are averaging, with their hot dogging style, better than I get on pure highway cruising at 68mph.
Why isn't this engine in the Mustang instead of the 2.3L 4 Banger???????
Because that would smoke the gt duh
MetricButtload If " You're stupid " is all that needs to be said, why did you blather on for a further five lines ??? Are you stupid ?
The ram also uses cylinder deactivation on its 5.7 Hemi
I'm very interested to see the full review of this truck. My next truck will be this one or the Ram's ecodiesel.
If Nathan is 6'1", then how tall exactly is Roman??
Sweet. I can't wait to buy one and have to replace the turbos at 150,000 miles at $2000-$3000 a piece im sure.
Could this 2.7L package be tested with a slightly larger tire package. The kind of tire package which would make the truck look more aggressive without jacking it up.
I'd like to see to see the drag, larger tires & wheels, would create on the overall performance of the unit.
Lol Nathan is always funny. And I personally like his attitude more than Roman's (his is good, but Nathan's is great).
This, or a ram 1500 ecodiesel for hauling an 8,000 lb boat & trailer up 10,000 feet elevation? Our 2004 Yukon XL Denali has handled everything we threw at it, but better fuel economy would be nice
I do not believe the 2.7L has the piped in engine noise. The 3.5L does for sure, but I was told by the Ford guy I rode with that said no on the 2.7L.
I want I platinum, comes with brushed aluminum on inside, real wood and massaging seats :)
Thank you.
Tundra trd pro. As long as you're not stingy on gas mileage lol
It is also supposed to have auto start/stop.
What about the auto start / stop tech? Would like to know if it has the same problems of quick acceleration like the chevy does with its cylinder deactivation.
Jesus, this thing is faster than most hot hatches lol.. If I had the money I'd slam it, do some tuning trickery and have a hotrod turbo truck.
Is it true aluminum can't be be repaired of hail damage?
November! I cant wait that long for MPG rating... OH LAWD WHYYYYY
wider? how much wider? trucks are already hard enough to maneuver in parking lots and the cluster neighborhood.
What size motor is it again? I don"t think it was said enough.
Do you need to use premium fuel only in this truck?
So, congrats guys and god bless you!!😊🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👏👏👏👋👋
Wait, I'm not sure I caught that... Was this the one with the 2.7L V6 EcoBoost engine in it??
Boost.....boost is always the answer.
I wonder how those new Aluminum bodies/beds will hold up over time?
Ford Engineering Aluminum 150's
watch?v=8lKGE9EkJy0
Should have put this in a new looking small ranger! That would be cool. Full size truck, full size engine, IMO
I wonder why they did not made it an inline six (l6)
Wow nice truck!! I want!!!
Opinions are like belly buttons, we all have them.
hows mileage
Is 325 horsepower coming out of a 2.7 twin turbo the same as 325 horsepower coming from a v8? Or is the little displacement working harder?
The peak torque comes on at a much lower RPM on the 2.7 eco boost. Than the 5.0, making the 2.7 much more enjoyable to drive.
It's pretty crazy how whoever was driving before he went into the rear seat is comfortable with the back of the drivers seat at almost a 90 degree angle and seems to be just a few inches away from the steering wheel....
good review but not complete until you guys starting towing and comparing numbers.
Cant wait for the ike guantlet
Interesting new engine.....Very impressed with the torque figures as "torque moves metal". I'm also a big Ford fan, but this truck is ugly to me....but that of course is entirely subjective and has no bearing on how well this truck in engineered or built.
As a mechanic/supervisor of a fleet of close to 3,000 Ford Crown Vics, it would be curious to see what the cost to replace parts on both Eco boost engines will be down the road when they are out of warranty.
Thanks TFL guys for the vid...
Awesome review vid! Subbed
They're Japanesing their trucks big time
ford leads all trucks hands down!! there sales prove it! enough said
Is this engine brand new? I can't remember, which they told me in the video.
I really hope this engine holds up...the 3.5L has had some major carbon build up problems. even the smaller 2.0L is having this issue.
Getting mine next week wooo!!! I want to change "C" to "G", ego boost!!
Teakilla Sunrice , well did you get the truck and how has it done?
The Fast Lane Car The Fast Lane Truck When will Y'all be able to do a Test Drive/Review of the 2015 Mustang in Colorado? If u don't know at least let me know when Y'all are doing it! Thanks!
Hey Ford, lets put that engine in the oven with a fusion and bake a fusion ST!
This is perfect for a daily driver, with the occasional lighter trailer, or work, which seems like half the truck drivers out there.
While I do like the size of the cab I ain't to sure about all that aluminum and such a small motor! I like the idea that it seems like a regular size bed and not real short though. As for motor maybe turbo charge a 4 litter motor as a compromise. Maybe I'm paranoid but if the turbo's go out at a bad time that's an all full small motor.
looks nice in red.
Did Ford fix the carbon buildup issues on the valves with this newer EcoBoost engine?
I believe the newest generations all have dual injectors.
Some people are dumb talking about these ecoboost trucks. I have a 2012 f150 ecoboost with 3:55 ran 70-75 mph and i drove 860 miles averaged 23.8
Light weight truck and towing? Those two things don't go together. The tow rating on this truck is probably 8 to 9000 pounds, keep in mind this is a full size. Most mid sized trucks are rated for 7 to 8000. This truck is a way more expensive mid size truck that wants to be a full size.
That's a bad ass truck
Ram made the right choice on making a smaller diesel rather that a turbo 4 banger that runs on premium gas. Chevy also had a smaller diesel made for the silverado 1500 back in 08/09 but then they went bankrupt. I cant wait too see the ecoboosts turbos start going lol
