    Do you prefer autofocus lenses or cine lenses? Let me know!

      *I just started using Cinema Lens. I got the SLR Magic 12mm e mount and I am new too These types of Lens and I do love how smooth the focus ring moves and it's pretty nice*

      I went all in and brought a blackmagic camera so I would force myself to learn manual focus. Its just another skill all filmmakers should have, you can't if you rely 100% on autofocus. But I do agree, in some situations its nice to have the choice :)

    I’ve been loving seeing your work with the cine lenses! Also, loved the paintbrush analogy 🙌

    So far I only used Arriflex cine lenses like Zeiss Standard and Super Speeds, Cooke Speed Panchros, Schneider + Kinoptik primes and Angenieux zooms. Accidentally I bought an automatic lens with a Lumix GH camera in a kit. And do you know what? Now I preferably use the automatic lens. I didn't think it would be such a relief.

    Thanks for the video. I love the color rendition and iq of cinema lenses whenever I get footage from a commercial shoot to edit. So I always wanted to buy cinema lenses for my bmpcc4k. But I don't have a speedbooster yet and I don't know if I can switch the mount if I buy a native m43 mount cinema lens and upgrade to a bmpcc6k in the future.

      No problem Bo! Yea I always love the look cinema lenses produce. It just really adds a whole other quality to your images.

    The irony is a want the 75mm 1.4 SLR for stills exclusively…. For video I’m running the Samyang V-AF Cine because I feel like I’m getting character and auto focus although it isn’t the best it looks so rich. Love your work Alex. Hope one day you can try the Samyang line and tell us how you feel. 😎

    I rented a set of these in cine E (smaller form), not sure if it has the same optical design as the microprime but i surely loved the character it produced

      Yea I really love the look these lenses produce. If you shoot me a message on IG @alexsperri I'll send you a little sneak peek of a project I just shot last weekend. You'll really be able to see the character of the lenses.

    In my opinion, shooting manual focus will give you an overall better image quality.

    is this highly feasible as a solo shooter? not like you need a separate focus puller, it’s just part of your skillset?

    • @AlexPerri
      @AlexPerri  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It absolutely is! I’m not gonna lie to you and say it’s super easy, but with some practice you will get the hang of it. I’m a solo shooter and I pretty much exclusively use these lenses. I usually have focus peeking on my monitor to help nail my focus and I do mess up from time to time, but it’s all part of the process.

    I used these lenses for a bit but ended up ditching them. I had the 18, 21, and 50mm lenses for Sony and hated the bad focus breathing and inconsistent look from lens to lens. I did really like the 50mm though.

    • @AlexPerri
      @AlexPerri  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahh that's too bad. The focus breathing is definitely it's biggest downfall, but I find unless you're doing a huge focus racking it's not super noticeable. And luckily for me my lenses have been pretty consistent amongst my set.

    I have FX3 and just received the set of these Micro Prime lenses (21, 35, 50, 75). I'm loving the look so far. One question. When I film handheld with these, IBIS seems to be disabled. How do you enable it? Thanks.

    • @AlexPerri
      @AlexPerri  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Happy to hear you're liking them so far! As for the IBIS, if you go to Menu, then the Video tab, then Image Stabilization, make sure SteadyShot is set to either Active or Standard and then go to Focal Length and set it to the focal length of the lens you are using. Hope that helps!

    Yeah, making a post like this only tells people how little you know about photography and cinematography. Auto focus is definitely new, and the truth is in motion pictures in real movies. Most photographers pull focus they do not auto focus. It’s not a secret.

    • @AlexPerri
      @AlexPerri  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      LOL yea, because no photographer EVER uses autofocus and no videographer does either. And that’s why every brand brags about their autofocus performance in their new cameras and lenses. Give me a break man. But yea my 4-year photography degree, over 10 years of freelance photography and 7 years in videography/cinematography/directing experience means I don’t know what I’m talking about 👍🏻
