I used to live in Anchorage and Juneau and miss it terribly. I learned to knit at a yarn store in Anchorage - my first project was a mobius cowl and then a sweater! I miss it terribly and loved this video. So glad you were able to catch Denali on a clear day.
Wow, how exciting when I realized you had a new video up of you in Alaska. My husband, children, and grandchildren just got back from there, where we salmon fished in the Kenaii and Russian Rivers, hiked at Skillak Lake, saw northern lights, visited the Homer Spit, saw Beluga whales in the Turnagain arm outside of Anchorage, hiked on Exit Glacier, and ironically, also took the Major boat trip to Kenaii Fjords to see the glaciers, whales, puffins, seals and all of the awesome wildlife and scenery. I agree with your statement that while in Alaska, it’s a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It was a great trip. Didn’t make it to the yarn stores in Anchorage, but we did pick up some yarn in the bookstore/yarn store in Seward. Really cute. We were there in the middle of August, maybe even crossed your path😉 Thank you so much for your videos, highlighting yarn and travels, you do a nice job with them.
Alaska has been one of my dream trips. I can’t imagine the sheer beauty of the state! PS I love the side eyed glance to Kent at the mention of purchasing Qivuit😂
Sorry I missed you at Far North. I live in Anchorage and have only been here 3 years. I actually moved here from Florida. Everyone thought I was crazy. My reasons were because of grand children. I was scared to go from one extreme to the other. I came here during the lockdown actually to visit and never left. I love it here. Originally from NY to Florida to Alaska. And for 1 year in Alabama inbetween. Alaska is actually the most comfy with so much to see and do! I love it here. Next time you’re here please let me know ahead of time.😊
Ahhhh the otters and puffins. One of these days I’d love to visit Alaska as well. I’ve only ever heard great things but agree I could never manage the fierce winter
I can already see from the intro that you got to see a little sun and clear sky! I'm happy for that, because we have been experiencing a very cloudy, rainy and windy summer. It looks like you did a great job with your trip planning and got to see several of the highlights. So glad that all went well and you had a good time!
I know exactly where that overlook was. I got my first look at Denali there too. Cool little cabin! Enjoyed seeing all the wildlife, glacier, and waterfalls. Brought back such great memories. The conservation center has grown since we were there. ♥️baby musk ox♥️
Absolutely beautiful. I have a funny story for you. I have a friend who used to race sled dogs. Early in his musher years he had two huge white long hair sled dogs. A knitter friend of his gathered the under coat of the dogs and knitted him an amazing sweater. It was warm and beautiful. He wore it at the next race. Where it rained and snowed. Normal for a dog sled race. BUT The sweater smelled so bad of wet dog he had to take it off. No one could stand the smell. Haha So when he got home they had it washed blocked and framed. Never to be worn again hahaha I love this story. I hope you enjoyed it. Loved your tour of Alaska. We hope to do that someday
So glad you had a great time. Alaska was one of a horrible vacation for us. I have almost nothing nice to say about it. I’m so happy to watch this and thank you for sharing your experience. MAYBE I’ll give it another try in the future 🥰
We used to live in Alaska and understand what you mean by the special people and landscape. Your lovely video gives me a heart yearning to be there again.
Love Alaska. My husband and I have been there ten times. We even went there for our honeymoon 41 years ago. When we were young we considered moving there too, but that didn’t happen. Thanks for another great video!
We loved our trip to Alaska. We went there 25 years ago for our 25th wedding anniversary. We spent two weeks there. One week on ship and one week on train trip.
Wow! I want to go to Alaska! This was such an incredible video-the photography, spectacular scenery and sightings, and so nicely edited and narrated. Thank you for sharing your experience so well with us, Natalie and Kent!❤
Thanks for sharing your experience. We were there last year and you are correct, the people are so friendly & helpful. We met a couple of people from the Chicago area who moved to the Anchorage area and won't move back. You brought back so many memories of one of the most beautiful states.
Thanks for sharing your trip to Alaska! We were supposed to go on a cruise there in 2020, which of course was canceled. Definitely on our list to get to! We’re fortunate that we’ve been to Hawaii- absolutely gorgeous- enjoy!
We went on an Alaskan cruise the end of July beginning of August. It was beautiful. We actually went to that Alaska wildlife center too. We didn't see the grizzlies, they were hiding, but we did see that black bear that was playing with his stick!
ok, thanks for planning my alaskan trip for me! with yarn stores 😄 also, the humpback whales come to my neck of the woods come breeding time, so far traveled!!!
Excellent video. We too went to Alaska and got on the road inland as far as Denali. We saw and were impressed with many of the same things you did. I was able to see a moose up close and personal at the Conservation center. We hiked on a glacier and saw the sea otters at Seward. I did not get the quivit sock yarn I came across there and have regretted it ever since.
You are always welcome back! For your next trip I highly recommend to take the Alaska Marine Highway from Prince Rupert all the way up to Haines. You will see so much more wildlife. I’m glad you got to eat at Ray’s place, it is legit the best restaurant in Alaska. Fun fact Alaska eats more ice cream than any other state, hence all the local creameries. HEHE. The Moose’s Tooth has been rated the busiest pizza parlor in the US a few times. Great food!
So beautiful! We planned a week tour it include Denali but I broke my ankle while biking in Anchorage after only 3 days in Seward.☹️ We did get to go on that cruise to the glacier before we were forced to go home early.
We had a wonderful visit to Alaska on a cruise that left from our own port of Vancouver. I suggest you read The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah for a good view of living there. And of course watch Northern Exposure 🙃
Beautiful footage. Thank you for sharing your trip with us! Fun fact: orcas are actually classified as the world's largest dolphin. Not sure why a dolphin was nicknamed killer whale, but hey? 🤷♀️ (wanted to be a marine biologist as a kid, huge sea life nerd)
Alaska is beautiful. Have you read the book The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah? It gives me an understanding about why the people are so compassionate towards each other. They truly need each other.

Well done 7 days in Alaska. Yarn, National Parks and Breweries... My kind of tour. ❤
Was a treat to meet you at Far North Yarn in Anchorage! Glad you had a great time in our beautiful state.
Alaska is my favorite vacation spot. We’ve been three times. The glaciers are my favorite!!

This was such a fun video! We took a cruise in May 2024 to Alaska and it was so amazing. We went to Denali and it was so fun to see your perspective.
This was incredible!!!! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Natalie and Kent, for such a great video! Such a beautiful state!

Thanks for the great vlog 💙
Such great pics and videos ! So cool!

From the stories we heard, it sounds like a lot of people move out there for a temporary job and then never leave. I can see why!
Sounds crazy but I’ve only heard of and thought of cruises to Alaska - this was great! Look forward to those yarn store visits!
I have some qiviute that I brought home as well as two of the native made scarves. So so soft and yummy!

Ok, you got me, I am fallowing now, beautiful places, and yarn shops, every thing to love. I so enjoy your style of story telling.❤
Wow! Thank you so much!
Thank you for showing us portions of your trip to Alaska!! 😍 I enjoyed this vlog very much and am looking forward to your trip to Hawaii! 🌸
Beautiful country. I enjoy seeing different parts of the country through you two. And what fun to find an unexpected yarn store. 🙃
Hi! I enjoyed your video! 💜
ok, thanks for planning my alaskan trip for me! with yarn stores 😄 also, the humpback whales come to my neck of the woods come breeding time, so far traveled!!!
Agree, Alaska is a very special place
The ice cream really surprised us! It was amazing and there were so many unique flavors. I think we will be back to Alaska for sure!

Alaska looks stunning!

Making me miss the mainland road system and Moose's Tooth. I am on an island in Alaska now.
Wonderfull!! I'm green with envy, it's so so beautiful in Alaska!
You’re in my home state. So glad to hear you love it. I live in upstate NY currently, but love to visit family in Anchorage.
aww lovely! Both beautiful places
Hello from Swansea, Illinois.
We had a wonderful visit to Alaska on a cruise that left from our own port of Vancouver. I suggest you read The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah for a good view of living there. And of course watch Northern Exposure 🙃
Absolutely amazing 🦌🦬
Loved seeing your Alaska trip! Beautiful!
Mooses’s Tooth is one of my favorite pizza places. We have been to Alaska 21 times in the last 24 years (family there) and love to visit.
We also went to the conservation center.
Love the Alaska vlog! I lived in Fairbanks and made multiple trips to Denali NP! I didn't however know there was a yarn store there!! ❤
It's brand new! They just opened this summer!
Not Natalie going back to uni for glaciology 😂
Omg have you seen the new Pacific Knit Co. new camping doodles. It has everything you do... I use them in yoke sweaters.
Wow 💗
I live out in the valley!
Darn I missed ya!😢
Oh man!
Alaska is beautiful. Have you read the book The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah? It gives me an understanding about why the people are so compassionate towards each other. They truly need each other.
Which glaciers did you see?
Orcas are my Favorite Whale. I am SO JEALOUS OF YOU I haven't left the MidWest.
