Andre was an absolutely AMAZING guest! He's incredibly intelligent and articulate, and his story telling style is fantastic! And Connor and Dominic did a wonderful job with the interview, as well! Thanks to the entire D-Con Chamber cast and crew for yet another great episode!
Those who can adjust to their audience and explain complex subjects in simpler terms are truly special. Dr. Bormanis certainly earned his keep with Star Trek and helped make it wonderful through its golden age.
Watching the commercial for you guys. Qapla'!
Dom and Connor, whatever the circustances were which led from THE SHUTTLEPOD SHOW to THE D-CON CHAMBER, you two have a knack for interviewing colleagues wonderfully and also for attracting a loyal audience--even when you AREN'T acting! I missed having you both as a regular part of my life from last December until now, and hope that all is well with both of you because, as we all know, life marches on whether we're having fun along the way or not. Connor: Congratulations to your son upon his high school graduation and congratulations to his proud father as well.
Andre is a well-spoken interviewee and you interacted with him especially well, so please do have him return for a 'Part 2' if the opportunity arises. If I learn nothing else from your podcasts--and they offer a great deal--it's how the show business industry works and how actors and others fit into that process. In some respects, it's both wonderful and bizarre that human civilization creates such an industry for what, at the root, is our enjoyment of storytelling, which enriches our imaginations, offers escape from the hardships of our personal lives, and fulfills a need for experiencing adventure which most of us can't engage in personally.
As a fellow artist (composer) I understand the importance of art and storytelling but because on some level all of us have the same needs in life--to hopefully survive, do something we love for our profession, to do it well, and to have our efforts be meaningful and satisfying to other people--I also appreciate the solidarity of that. When someone else's art/efforts are meaningful and satisfying to me I try to always say THANK YOU because life is so fleeting and short and also because of my personal belief that we are here, in this location and era, for each other. Thank you, Dom, Connor, and Andre, for contributing to various things that make me and many others experience something meaningful and satisfying from your work, and for giving me/us a needed way to escape from the hardships of life through storytelling and (now) through interviews too.
Don in Indiana
a part 2 is needed for sure, that is just awesome
Please have this guest back again. Although I am no where near his equal in education and intelligence, I found a kinship with him in that we both read the same science fiction authors and became acquainted with TOS around the same time. I was also born in 1959 on May 15th. I too felt that I was often bored in high school as was his older brother, but was, and am still an avid reader all of my life. I also feel a kinship with Dom and Conner as I aspired to be an actor too, but gave into my dream to pursue a military career instead. I still did the occasional community theater plays whenever I could. Love the show!
Agree loved this so relatable also a 1959 November 29 & a bad asthmatic read a lot in the day & so easy to relate the life & times as we all travelled the same time periods. I followed my dream into theatre then what I really wanted television at ABC TV in Australia 10 yrs & then freelance onto in 2000s both film.
As a designer & even though nothing in my family background would expect me but do this path of a life career.
Best of Theo
GREAT interview guys. Andre is one of the best guests you've had on either podcast... Keep it going guys - this will get legs!!!! I like this format A LOT more. Never did see a need for Erica except for eye candy - Sorry but true!! Would love to see a proper reboot of Star Trek telling the Enterprise C story...
What an absolutely fascinating guy. Thanks for bringing us his story.
One of the best guests you've had on. What am interesting guy! I loved his enthusiasm. Please have Andre on again!
Great episode ❤
as a crew person myself love seeing the behind the scenes people & there story of life ❤
& as Im same age as Andre I'm also born in 1959 & had bad asthma in Adelaide South Australia spent lots time in bed missing lots school & reading heaps! can so relate.
I loved sc fi & all.kinds movies some years later theatre fell into that in 81 then somehow got into NIDA 85 -87 move to Sydney do the Design Course & then 89 job ABC tv designing sets costumes the point is follow your dreams believe in yourself & best advice
"your only as good as your last job" seriously & my theatre training was the best to have.
So 35 yrs later still.. just 😂 in the biz.
Congratulations team D-Com🎉
My gosh, this was a great afternoon hearing the silky smooth voice of Andre Bormanis and his fascinating background and stories! The production level of the @D-ConChamberPod is fantastic and reflects Connor and Dom and their guests perfectly! Please do bring him back, and thanks!! ❤💛💙🤓🖖🏾
Great to hear Andre's stories hope you can get him back soon
What a great example of a person who followed their dreams and succeeded, Andre is pure inspiration. Well done to everyone at the D-Con Chamber for having this wonderful person on your show. Keep up the great work everyone, best wishes Ed from South Australia 🇦🇺🍷🍷🍷
What a great conversation. Andre appears on the extras for several of the DVD sets for the series he worked on but the Voyager DVDs have several extras for each season titles something like real science with Andre. He breaks down some of the science used in that particular season. I can't recall if he gets dedicated segments on the other series DVDs but his Voyager segments are great. Look forward to having him back
I got the opportunity to interview Andre about 20 years ago for my blog. We had just an incredible conversation. Years later I was living / working in LA and we hung out at a mutual friend's house. If memory serves, I saw him again a few months later. Besides the fact that Andre is just an incredible brain and a stunningly gifted writer and producer, I remember that he had good taste in cars. He had a beautiful white Porsche at the time. Thanks for putting this interview together. Just another great experience Dom and Connor.
Loved listening to Andre's sharing the paths he took that allowed him to experience life in line with his passions. He is an excellent storyteller! Thank you Connor and Dominic for introducing this lovely human to us.
Excellent interview! Andre is so entertaining and fascinating. So enjoyed the show. And, yes (!), do bring him back for more! Thank you.
I don't know what happened with the old channel but happily subscribing to see you guys continue. Dominic - I gave a harsh but loving comment about a bad trait you and I share - and I have to say, in the year since, the transformation in you is remarkable. It's so hard to remain silent when a conversation excites the mind, and it shows a fantastic strength of character and mature growth that you've done a complete 180 since then. You and Connor are a fantastic duo, Enterprise remains a show I love, and I want to see you both succeed. I will say - I only found this channel because a kind commenter directed me. As tedious and boring as marketing is, you need to get someone on that! Much love and respect.
Dom and Con explain a few things about the other show a few episodes back with Lolita Fatjo 👍😊
Wonderful episode can’t wait for part 2, more guests like this please!!
What a great WRITER'S interview! Thank you.
Great Interview - Thanks to The D-Con Chamber 🙂 🎉
One of the unsung heroes of Trek and another gem of an episode.
So freggin interesting. That was great. Bring that dude back.
Love hearing the backstory of this awesome science adviser/ writer! Wonderful interview-- thanks @The D-Con Chamber !
That man has a talent for telling captivating stories, has to be said.
PLEASE a second part!!! ❤❤❤❤
That voice is somewhere between Alan Alda and Howard Stern and my god is it GOOD.
I'm glad to have "re-discovered" you guys again! I didn't know there was a new channel and like a good TH-camr I of course subscribed and binge-watched and LIKED all the videos! Glad you're back! Looking forward to more!!!
Yes, please have Andre back! Also, John Billingsley, and Jimmy Darren.
This was a wonderful episode!! I can't wait until Andre returns!!
Another fantastic episode! Can't wait to see Andre again!
So glad you 2 are back, and without the baggage! My personal thoughts: I don't like guests being censored. I really miss the loose format of the 1st few episodes of TSPS, just actors around a table with a whiskey bottle cutting loose, unfiltered, being real and being themselves. Those episodes with Gary Graham, Jon Fleck, and Jeffrey Combs, so much fun and so hilarious, I hadn't laughed so hard in years!
I know opinions were polar, but I prefer Dom as is, unhinged, and unfiltered. That brought a mixed bag for sure, but he got the actors to cut loose, be themselves, and pulled so many golden stories and fun facts out of them that we'd never had gotten otherwise. He's such an interesting person with amazing stories himself. You're awesome just as you are Dom! In fact, the episode where Dom himself was the interviewee was one of my favorites, it was just captivating!
That style, obviously, wouldn't work with some actors like Shatner, but it was absolute crazy fun with the others, and I really miss that. As a compromise, would you consider doing a format change back to that for certain episodes, and select guests, like the before mentioned, that maybe prefer that more unhinged, relaxed, and informal setting around the table sipping whiskey, and call it "The D-Con Chamber - After Dark" or something that denotes the unhinged and adult nature of those episodes? I'd really love to see that resurrected on the right occasion. You could as the actors ahead of time: "Do you want the formal or the After Dark show?". Anyway, thanks for bringing the show back and it's good to see you all again!
Thank you all!💙🧡💛🌻🖖🏼
"Hopefully next time you won't rub that blue d-con gel all over my body ..." 😅
Looking forward to watching this on my next nightshift!
I'm only partway through but this guy is fascinating! What a great guest and an excellent conversation.
Need a part 2 of this 🎉
Fantastic interview. Quite enjoyed the behind the scenes and the lead up to Andre’s Star Trek stint. Definitely would love to see him on again.
I do love these behind the scenes type episodes
I'm enjoying this new format a great deal. I do hope some of these guests can make return appearances, but should they do so, I hope we don't spend too much time retreading the ground already covered.
Fantastic! I had no idea how prolific his career has been. ❤️🤘😎🖖🇨🇦
Excellent episode!!! Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there. Thank you!
I see a lot of myself in Mr. Bormanis. I am a huge comic book, science fiction, and Star Trek fan (of course) fan and have written poems and short stories. Some of which have been published in little school anthologies and such. Right now, I'm trying to write comic books. I have a few stories written and am trying to take further steps to get them published into real books. I'm also in school for physics education. I'm going to be a physics teacher! It's amazing how science and writing can collide.
"Silent Enemy" -one of my favorite eps of Enterprise!
I think Andre Bormanis has been my favourite guest so far. I love to see writers interviewed and his stories were - as Spock might say - fascinating! I do hope he will return. So loving the new show.
Hello guys , Happy Father's Day Connor .
Best trek podcast out there
Loved him!! Please bring him back!
Andre was a great guest. Very interesting stories 😃
I never made the connection to Guy Siner before. And what a knowledgeable and well-spoken guest.
Great interview, really interesting stuff. And its so nice to see you guys doing these interviews with great editing and sound quality.
Wonderful chat 👌. Loved Dom's comment right at the end "it's been a long time" 😅👌, and yes please, a definite bring back guest 😃. Just on a side note, what's happened to the brilliant portraits of the guests from the other show? 🤗.
Great episode @The D-Con Chamber! Andre Bormann’s is a great guest. Be wonderful to see him again
This man Andre has a great voice for radio. Interesting guy too.
Lovely to listen to
Can you bring back the "Connor's Island" bit at the end. I enjoyed that bit.
Great episode, your best one so far, a part 2 with Andre would be brilliant 🖖
Another great episode, looking forward to seeing Andre again.
50:36 - ♫ so he loaded up the truck and he moved to Beverly (Crusher, that is) ♫
Medical tri-corders and hypo-sprays. 😉
Connor going for a speilburg look 😮
Kudos to Stanisław Lem, the Polish writer.
Now, this is what I loved about the old show. How did you get to star trek. No games. Did like fan questions though
Great Episode!
Looking forward to Andre next time 🖖🏻
Andre was really interesting. Script writing sounds really difficult!
Holy Shit I Needed This
Congratulations to Connor's son on his graduation.
If and when you get Ira Steven Behr on THIS show, ask him about his views on what he recommended on changes for Enterprise. Braga talked about it, and we all want to know what his thoughts on what was wrong, and how he would've changed it.
Best guest on this show. Terry was a close 2nd. I love Shatner but he didn't have much to say...
Wow, what a great conversation. Can I say fascinating? I've recognized the names of all the people Dom & Conner have had on both shows but I have no memory of seeing Andre's name connected to Trek. How the hell did I miss him. I read the credits.
We need more decon gel in star trek! :)
I was placed on a statin by my doctor and I was never told about avoiding pineapple. My favorite pizza is Hawaiian so I'm screwed! 😆
Great guest
I read credits and he interested me. I was a great inteview.-I only like Enterprise. I found bim very old. Thanks.
Time to get Ronald D. Moore; and get his view on writing for Trek and DS9.
I love TNG and I love Bradbury. I prefer Bradbury's response to writing non-existent stuff, which was more poetical than technobabbly.
Anyway... great guest. Love this new format!
Modem Star Trek needs to do open door script submissions. They definitely need the help.
No super chat option?
🖖🏽
If you put a little prosthesis and make up, Andre could double as Gene Hackman.
The only thing that kept nagging me was the pronunciation of "nadion". In the show, it was pronounced phonetically as "NAY-dee-on". So to hear "NAH-dee-on" was jarring. I know it's spelled the same way, but pronunciation consistency is the key to understanding and correlation.
Super interesting guest, but horribly abrupt ending
Hello
WOULDYOU PLEAE TR OIT MORE LIGHTS! I CAN BARELY. See YOU!!
I love this show to death, but... I just listened to forty minutes of medical malady talk. Every family member has had heart attacks, taking lipitor, can't have grapefruit, mononucleosis in the third grade, and on and on until I feel sick because jeez we're all old and deal with this stuff it's so depressing to listen to in a droning voice for so long all the while eager to hear science or star trek talk but I feel like I just got hypnotized into hypochondria and now I'm afraid of grapefruit and kissing diseases. Still though, love you guys please disregard my complaining and continue making a great show. Peace and love. Grapefruit.
Good morning - our guests talk about what is important to them, and in Mr. Bormanis’s case, medical issues shaped his life course and experiences. Not every person’s history will be pleasant to listen to but our mission is to hear their stories, not police their narratives.
Droning voice? His voice is great and he speaks so well. Sorry you didn't enjoy the subject matter, perhaps you'll like the next guest more. The only thing I don't much like about the podcast if I'm honest is the intro song. Sorry Bonnie. I'd love if we had the end music at the beginning as well.
Dominic keating - “photon torpedoes” works for me
