I’m an 80’s teenager and these TAG’s were more popular in Los Angeles, California than Rolexes for a long time. It WAS the watch to have along with your 325i BMR and Depeche Mode playing on KROQ.

In Europe TAG Heur were the top fashion watch brand because F1 Ayrton Senna they were as expensive as Rolex 😳 plus out of stock always need wait for it and Rolex stand out for sale which I bought one but even I did I had a visit one day all my nice watches gone 😠 stop buying expensive watches and start it again now TAG aren’t so nice but they still have some nice watches arriving wish could get those who have gone !
At first, I wasn't too keen on this watch, but after seeing the whole process, it made me appreciate it far more. You did an impeccable job!

This watch needed a mid-life makeover when it was brand new. What an awful era for a very unstable brand of watch. Great restoration, though.

I have this watch! I rarely wear it anymore as it's so tiny on my wrist but tag heuer was the first watch maker I truly fell in love with. Great video as always!

as much as i love the restoration process, the commentary absolutly makes this one of the best channels to watch. Thank you so much for your content and contribution to sociaety by documenting not only restoration but your life in simple but humorous videos. I think this channel is great and the skill of the watchmaker evident. It really is a labour of love. I'll say one thing though, l remember these Tag models from the 90s. They cost a few hundred pounds back then. I don't mean to be horrible but even back then they didn't look like watches costing hundreds of pounds and they certainly don't today. However beauty as they say is in the eye of the beholder and they may have sentimental value to someone.
Don't be scared of the accountant brother. We have your back. Just keep blaming us.

The beginning of the video with the sad violin and accountant is comedy gold! I replayed that part over and over and was in tears, that's priceless comedy and the only thing that would make it better is if the accountant is watching the video too. Keep that up!
Fantastic work bringing this one back from the (nearly) dead. I'm curious as to the cost of a restoration like this and if it would exceed the actual, not sentimental, value.

In my opinion, this is a very successful "refreshment" of a good watch.
Nothing short of amazing, I am in the camp of returning the lume to its former glory. The watch is still a daily driver and really needs to be functional even at night. I understand the other side as well, showing all its battle scars, but there is still a war to be fought, so we all must press on ;)

This is a very special place for me. It reminds me of my uncle, who worked very hard every day and took a correspondence course to be a watch repairman. He was very good and was able to stop his hard work in construction and concentrate on his first love, watches. I remember watching him work and was amazed at the work he produced. Thank you for bringing back such memories.
When the secretary of War and Finance returns and the question of the camera lens is broached, remind her that if you would have had the lens before the unfortunate thumb accident, it may have been prevented. Remember, better optics, fewer accidents.

I agree with your judgement about restoring this watch.
It's difficult for me to equate vintage watches with the wear of time that makes furniture so interesting
and this is not some antique timepiece.
I do not believe that those who buy fine watches at any period in History, wanted them to get beat up.
they were and still are costly investment.

I love the TAG Heuer logo that splits in half when you turn the bezel.
Great video and watched with interest as I've worn a Tag 2000 Auto daily for the last 30 years. Apart from a few scratches on the case and bracelet it looks fabulous and even still has good lume (It ha sprobably been serviced 3 or 4 times). Could you give any insight into what may have caused this 4000 to get in such a state. Is it sea water damage? Perhaps the owner had his hands in an engine bay for decades? I'm really curious.

I just happened upon this video and I am in awe of the work you perform on these watches. I agree with your mindset regarding the repurposing of the watch and making attainable for someone wanting to get into owning a Swiss timepiece. I grew up in the 80’s and these watches were out of reach for a lot of us. I know this video was made some time ago and I have seen many of your other projects and it doesn’t matter which order you see them in they all showcase the talent you bring to TH-cam! Thank you and keep them coming!

I'd be happy to have that on my wrist 😁 I remember the late 1980's TAGs were affordable but then with advertising & F1 they doubled in price within 3 or 4 years.

I had this exact watch in my early 20’s back in 90’s they were my favourite watch especially it was a gift from my dad. Sometime in early 2000’s it was stolen from me..😭

I love it. Looks great. I own one with a white face. I wear it everyday. Its a great watch and it gets compliments all the time. It has some battle scars, not as bad as this one you restored.
I remember wanting this watch so much in '92-'94. Couldn't justify the price for a quartz at that age, when Seiko and Swiss Army had some really nice pieces at 1/4 of the price.

wait, I call sleight of hand! That dial says T - Swiss & so the lume is tritium over 25 years old. It's half-life is done for. And flashing it with a torch wouldn't charge it, even if it was "new" tritium. The hands are thus modern luminova
