    Hi! One of my goldfish in my tank recently went through some trauma and now he is not eating, moving and if he does move he looks stiff. What is happening? By stiff I mean he is not using his back tail at all.

      There might be a lot of factors to rule out like water quality, parasites, or even bullying from other fish. I would isolate the patient fish on a tank with good filtration, aeration, and daily 30 percent water change. I would also add a bit of salt and observe.

    Very informative.How we understand the slime is high in our fish.

    • @nam-johntv5553
      @nam-johntv5553  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the best way to check for slime is through observation. Slimes may lump up on your fish. You can also touch your fish. If its too slippery, something is wrong. If too rough, almost like a sandpaper, you should be more concerned.

    hi, my oranda goldfish has thing red streaks on her tail like veins, i’m assuming it’s something to do with her being stressed from her move. is a 5-10 minute salt bath everyday good to help her? i changed the water and she seems more active but streaks r still there, my other fish is fine, her tail won’t effect him right?

    • @nam-johntv5553
      @nam-johntv5553  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The first thing I would do is check the water parameters on your main tank and check whether other fish are having the same symptoms. If they do, do a quick water change as it may be due to ammonia spike on your tank water. As to whether the red streaks from one fish may affect the others, it wont if the water is in good condition.
      You can do a high concentration salt bath 2 minutes a day if you are already confident in doing so. If you do a low concentration salt bath, yes, 5-10 minutes is good. You can even have two sessions if you see your fish can take another round at another time of the day.

      @@nam-johntv5553 thanks for the quick response, the one had a problem with ick and ia now showing signs of rin rot, the ick is under control now and is gone but the fin rot is now a problem. Its still an early stage and not severe. The fish is also lethargic staying ontop of the water column but does come down to eat

    • @nam-johntv5553
      @nam-johntv5553  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it is on the earlier stages of fin rot, I would suggest for a long exposure- low dosage of salt. 1 tbsp of salt per 10 gallons of water and soak for 10-20 minutes.
      If you have a hospital tank, you can separate the fish ang do for 1/2 tbsp of salt per 10 gallons of water. In this way, you can keep it there until the fin rot is fixed. If you do this though, you need to have a daily water change (at least 30%) and put add salt daily depending on the amount of water you changed.

    Can I use my marine tank as a quick salt bath for fancy goldfish?

    • @nam-johntv5553
      @nam-johntv5553  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would not recommend. Fresh water fish can only tolerate a specific salt concentration.

      Araw araw poba ang salt bath
      Or mag salt bath lang ako pag may white spot na naman.
      Hndi ba maka sama sa isda ang araw araw na pag salt bath? Pasensya napo andame kong tanong

      Magandang araw po.
      Hindi po advisable na everyday mag high concentration salt bath ka po.
      Mapapayo ko, maintain mo sa main tank mo low concentration salt.
      Lagay mo sa main tank mo, 1 kutsara per 5 gallons. Then waterchange 10-30 percent everyday. Pag naglagay ng bagong tubig, refill ng salt equal sa tubig na napalitan. For example, ang 30 percent ng tubig mo na pinalitan ay 8 gallons, so maglalagay ka ng 1.5 kutsara ng salt. Basta yung salt 1 tbsp per 5 gallons mamaintain nyo po.
      Increase aeration. At kung may heater, set to 28-30 celsius

    How often do you do your salt baths weekly ever month thank you

    • @nam-johntv5553
      @nam-johntv5553  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If there is no problem with your fish, I say there is no need for a salt bath. But if you want to have it as a maintenance procedure, you can have it once month. Just dont do a highly concentration salt bath if there is no problem.

    You need to have a word with your self. You wrote on screen 1 tablespoon of salt to a gallon of water. Then you show you putting about 3 spoon fulls of salt on a tiny bowl not even close to a gallon!
    People will kill their fish following your dangerous intrusions
