  • Update, what I actually did after calling New Holland and being told that the front half shaft would be $2000.00 and just to buy the bearing to rebuild the front yolk would be over $200 was to call the Discbine Dr. in PA. and ordered a new heavy duty , American made full shaft for $1000.00. Implement power take off shaft stuck to tractor PTO spline and will not disengage. This video shows how I took apart the locking collar and got the drive line off tractor. Please help me figure out how this type of locking mechanism works.

I had one had the plastic collar had trouble with it, I had to get a new shafe the clutch mess up. I told the dealer get me one with the old slide pin, he told me the new ones are metal and better. Well there not, it's stuck on pto now. I've spray wd 40, pecked on shuck it, moved it back and forward and no luck yet. I've done all this before then wait a while walk up to it and it came right off.

Thanks for the video! We're stuck in the same spot, but at least we know what direction to take.

@@michiganhay7844 A Howse 5' brush hog coupled to a1975 Ford 2000 3 cylinder diesel. We needed to remove the hog to attach a rear scoop and the hog hadn't been off in years and dad swore up and down that you had to push the collar forward to release it. I watched your vid and walked out and removed. He was shocked and said "That TH-cam is a handy son of a bitch." He'll be 80 in December 🤣👍 thanks again!

Depends on how your PTO attachment is locked in... some use ball bearings to sit in the recess on the spline of the PTO shaft, some have a sliding bar which locks into the recess on the spline. The Ball Bearing method, usually is spring loaded but you push forward to release which is counter intuitive IMO. There are some where you pull back to lock in and push forward to connect. Mine is sliding shaft and the spring loaded buttons you push in are completely gone :-(..... still searching TH-cam for a solutions

The CV joint on on one of our Deere balers uses 3 balls that lock into the recess in the Shaft.... Dirty Grease once prevented the balls from moving and we did what you did removed the sliding collar cleaned with Brake Cleaner untill the balls dropped out... Our KMC Cutter Carts have a sliding collar on each end of the short shaft to the tractor......What really pisses me of is how some idots assemble the u=joints.... putting the grease fitting on the wrong side of the cross......I have designed some tools to disassemble a u-joint without destroying it..

I fight this on my baler every season and it drives me insane we beat it off and did so much damage the yoke was stuck on and had to buy a whole driveshaft for 3500 and now the new one has been on the tractor for all of second cutting and now it was stuck and it's never been touched other then to slip it on the pto
