I found mine was not stuck do to rust, it was binding so bad inside itself. Male end was cleaned so many times in the past that to much metal was removed causing the male end to twist enough inside the female. My PTO shaft is on a snowblower and I just bought a new one as the blower lifts crooked then you hear a BANG and the right side of the blower jumps up in the air. It's twisting/binding under a load. When it's apart, you can slide the two together using your fingers, it's that easy. You may want to pick up a new one, because yours slid apart way to easy after it unstuck itself.
Going through that now. Already tore two 10,000 lb straps trying to yank it apart. Few things more frustrating. Reached my maximum frustration level and gave up for the day will. Will let it soak with PBB and give it another go tomorrow.
I was so close to giving up on it. Heat, vibration from the palm nailer and as always a big freakin hammer seemed to be the winning combination!

Thank you.

Good luck. Try hanging it up and use gravity to help you slam it down.
Thank you, Sir. I have one that is stuck and it refuses to move. My housing is metal so I can't get access to the square shaft.
Heat it and beat it!
