- Getting this plastic safety cover off the PTO can be Tricky. Hopefully this will help others.
NOTE: When I say metal Sleeve, it has a metal piece inside, I know what you see is Plastic, I did not explain that well.

👍 Yes - keep the universal joints & slip joints greased, do not over grease, if you do wipe any excess exposed grease off (exposed grease attracts dirt and that can cause excess wear)
Keep the covers over the universal joints as any wayward barbwire, long grass, baling twine etc gets pulled in and wound up mega tight or launched into space at warp speed.
* consider inspecting / changing the slashers gearbox oil.
As a kid I slashed along a busy highway & slashed over most of the debris that fell off vehicles, mattresses, pillows, furniture, surfboards, coolers and almost 1 hobo.

@@HeyGunPeople The slasher gearbox will likely take about a 80w-90 grade oil, and the 80w-90 limited slip diff oil is an even heavier duty oil.
Not sure you are aware, but the PTO shaft needs to be cut to fit the implement and the tractor - if the shaft is too long, it will bind and bust the PTO case when the implement is raised. If it is too short, it will come apart when you lower the implement. I realize the brush hog came with this tractor, but in the event you purchase a new implement, consult the operator manual for the proper length of the PTO shaft. I enjoyed the video, a great reminder for a little Preventative Maintenance (PM). Enjoy the journey - cheers

Update on Tulsa Killer. He did it because Dr. that performed back surgery on the man "didnt do enough to alleviate pain" aka didnt prescribe good enough drugs.
We mow alot of hills round here. I welded hooks to the ends of a length of chain. Used that as my top link on the 3 point. Works like a champ going into the dips. Lets the mower flex up, but stays level when on flat ground.

Humm, I’ve never had one for any bushhog I’ve had. After seeing this I’m glad I didn’t have one. : )
If you had to take the cover off the PTO to grease it someone built it wrong. I used to make and repair them for a living. I suspect you already did because that's the kind of person you are, but if you haven't, grease the pin that locks the the mower PTO onto the tractor PTO. If that lock pin seizes on you it can be big trouble. Good on you for doing the sliding joint, if it was that stiff it could have easily caused the shaft(s) to bend instead of it sliding.
Does that pto cover not have a grease head access hole? All the ones we have on the farm have a hole in them to reach with the grease gun so you don’t have to take the cover off.
Why does one side have a hole in the cover and the other doesn’t?
they are both the same, the zerk fittings do not put grease on shaft only joints

Universal Joint for that Flex part with grease fittings.
Take a note when you did this so you can get a pattern when you need to do it again. Hours on tractor and date.
I have a Contact in Phone with Tractor Info, ser number oil weights and when I do things with hours :)

Is that a mower that you can hook onto a tractor? I get the PTO is to take power from one source (the tractor)... but I'm just not sure what the big red thing is at the end. Looks like it might be a mower to me.
How do you get that gear box sheilding off? Is it just screwed to the gearbox?
I have one on my tiller, it is fastened with 1/4 inch bolts and even though it has an access door on it, it makes servicing that end of the PTO shaft difficult.
