I'm English and love your MIL's home. I liked how your daughter and her Grandmother went picking flowers in the garden together to make a bouquet. Simple quality family time together and your daughter will hopefully find joy and beauty in flowers all her life. Your children will have a magical childhood spending summers in such a beautiful home and garden. Yes Britain is very beautiful. There is a lush softness to the countryside and whenever I come home from a holiday to somewhere hot and dry and I step off the plane, the first thing I smell is the smell of sweet grass and damp earth. How lovely - we're having fab weather here at the moment. If you are able to visit David Austin's nursery, do - it's absolutely beautiful with gardens laid out to showcase the roses; we are lucky enough to live near enough to visit often.

Here in England, "single cream" is quite light and liquid, "double cream" is thicker but still pourable, and "extra thick double cream" needs to be spooned, you might not find it everywhere. There's one more cream, which you must try with your desserts and cakes, called Cornish Clotted Cream, and it's a classic with scones for high tea. M&S probably make their own, otherwise you'll find it in a well-stocked Waitrose or Sainsbury's, the usual brand is Rhodda's.

Yes but what is the single and double cream? No one can ever define them or give the proper us equivalent lol. We have half and half (I believe it’s half whole milk and half cream) and heavy whipping cream which is just straight cream (no whole milk)

@@21972012145525 the heavy whipping cream would perhaps be our double cream as many whip this for trifles etc In our coffee for instance we generally have milk, semi-skimmed or whole/full fat or single cream as a treat lol.x

I find that I am always more hungry on vacation or days off, and I have noticed my children are the same way! I’ve wondered if part of it is having less commitments and clutter in my mind and food is just something to do, as well as the excitement of eating some treats I don’t usually buy or indulge in. :)

What a lovely vacation and time with family! Des your mother in law work? Life with a housekeeper who cooks dinner is such a foreign idea; I’m just curious and would love to know more.
As a note, the music with lyrics at the beginning was much louder than your voice, and I had to keep adjusting the volume. The instrumental music matched your voice volume much better.

I have a theory about your shift in appetite. Hot weather kills my appetite. I have to force myself to eat. As a child I would only want fruit and maybe a few bites of chicken on a hot summer day. Cool climates and relaxing country environments I normally can eat triple the amount of food id normally eat. Cool weather brings my appetite back very strong. I'm guessing it's the same for you and possibly other's as well.

Yes please do a video on focus. When I have small amounts of time to work (I am an artist) which I mean is all you have as a mom, I oftentimes have a lot of trouble focusing, or it takes me an hour to get into the groove and then time is almost up. Idk sometimes maybe I’m hungry, or I’m just so scattered in my mind from everything that has been going on, or suddenly your kids need to say something to you or need you to do something every five minutes
I loved this video! Those flowers are so beautiful. Yes, I would love your tips on how to focus, especially on tasks such as writing while running a household. I find that my creative projects often suffer due to feeling the need to prioritize other things like food prep or laundry!

Wait until you taste the raspberries. With cream or a piece of chocolate cake or both - divine. I'm English and strawberries and cream is always on my Summer Bucketlist of things to enjoy.

Yes! I would love a video on how you go from one focus to another. I’m also a writer (fictional works that aren’t published. I mostly write because I enjoy it) and with two little kids I find myself without the time I used to have and I find it difficult to go in and out of writing. Maybe it’s because I’m writing fictional worlds and characters? It’s hard for me to immerse myself into the world I’m creating and then get pulled out again and then try to immerse again, etc. Any tips would be much appreciated!!
I'm in the UK so it's nice to see what someone visiting notices. I know you're here each year so I always enjoy these videos. Do you happen to know which china was used for the bowl you had the sponge cake, raspberries and cream in? It was a white/cream colour with a flowers/foliage design in the middle and roped edges. It's gorgeous and I'm a little bit obsessed!

I am in awe of your mother-in-law's home. There is a certain lovely symmetry in the fact that a woman with exquisite taste (you) married into a family headed by another woman with exquisite taste (your mother-in-law). Love the beautiful carpet in the room where you are doing the clothes try on. There is so much to love about this video and thank you for sharing. I would LOVE more details on focus as this is something I struggle with.

I would absolutely love a video on focus as I am in a very similar situation with working in time blocks as an illustrator. I've only recently begun treating my art seriously and professionally and I would love to get some tips.
I liked the "mysterious " mirror shots, and those pink roses throughout the video were so lovely. You've inspired me this year to remember to bring small bouquets indoors and enjoy my flowers inside as well as in the garden.

Oh, I had to come back to say: I'm always really hungry in England too. 😁 It's all the long country walks and delicious British food.
I would love to hear more videos about worklife balance and also social life balance. Where we are, I feel so overwhelmed keeping up with non stop parties and visits and extended family get togethers that I can't seem to get any time for deep work. I have a pet writing project I dream of tackling that I can't seem to make time for as well as just the prep work and grading that come with my homeschool responsibilities. If I say no to things I get a terrible sense of fomo which makes me question my decisions. How do you come to peace about where and how you spend your time? I have a large family I am juggling too so maybe I am hoping for too much!

I enjoy single or pouring cream, its so versatile ... makes wonderful hot chocolate.. just like parisian hot chocolate & it goes wonderfully with fruit or puddings.

Kefir is wonderful as yogurt drinks or with berries & fruits... I love blueberry kefir.. no added sugar!
I also love creme fraiche with berries & lemony desserts.

Haha, we moved to North Carolina last year and I tell my husband with every rain that it sounds and feels like the rain I used to experience in the Lake District! If I can’t be in England, I take NC as my second choice!

Love your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful trip to England. Please!Please do a video about keeping focus. The older I get, the more distracted and side tracked I have become. It also seems harder to concentrate, post menopause. Maybe your MIL or Mother could help with that one! Just a suggestion. Peri-menopause was even worse in some ways, but alot of things got better, like alot less mood swings when menopause finally set in.
