    I installed mine over the weekend and I must say it looks a lot better. There are a few places that didn't stick down even with added weight. The "french fries" do help with vibration, but look like crap. I may look into getting a solid piece of foam to go all the way across the dash instead of these things.
    I removed the dash trim and used wood clamps to hold down the front part of the dash skin, seemed to work well for me.

    What about a cover for the air bag. i like the flush look

      We do not supply an airbag cover for safety reasons (covering the airbag with hard plastic could cause injury if deployed), but our matching texture and colors make the cover blend in very well! Even with an airbag cover, you'd still have several seams where you notice a height difference on any brand overlay (the ends of the dash cover and any openings, like side window defroster holes), but overall, we find that the texture and color matching makes a much bigger difference in blending in than leveling the airbag altitude does. We have some great "After" shots on our website you can look at to see the finished product up close!

    For a 2013 Avalanche would I be able to replace the airbag after installing the dash skin?

    • @DashSkin
      @DashSkin  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it is possible! However many dealerships will refuse to perform the airbag recall unless you take the skin off, so I would advise getting the recall taken care of first!

    Like the cover, in Oklahoma too. You had me until the telescoping poles to hold edges, can tape work for edges or an alternate method besides legs or wood?

    • @DashSkin
      @DashSkin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Howdy fellow Okie! We don't recommend tape normally because it never sticks well/reliably to the interior plastics and will likely let go before your silicone is done curing, but anything of appropriate length can be used in place of the prop rods, such as a squeegee handle, a cut section of PVC pipe, etc!

      They have suggested not using tape to secure the cover. Not clear why but they know best. The prop rods are easy to find at most home centers (adjustable curtain rods work) They are not as cool as the ones in the video but they will work.

    If you have big softball size holes in the dash can you just put the cover over the top?

    • @DashSkin
      @DashSkin  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely! The material is thick enough to span big chunks of missing dash. We recommend adding a second tube of silicone to your order and outlining the holes on the dash with silicone, and applying silicone directly to any dash cracks just before installing your skin so the cracks and holes cure to the skin for extra support

    If the speaker were to fail or if the airbag needed to be replaced, how do you remove the dash skin?

    • @DashSkin
      @DashSkin  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Since the skin installs with silicone adhesive, it's easy to remove if needed and re-install afterwards, but we always recommend getting the airbag recall taken care of first to save the trouble. In my personal opinion the speaker should be deleted entirely, as it's mostly unnoticeable and the additional weight makes the dashes with speakers deteriorate much faster than those without! Its not worth the havoc it wreaks on those brittle dashes.

      @@DashSkin Mine doesn't have the center speaker and is still broken all over the place too. Just a horrible design from GM that should've been completely recalled for safety.

      You don't need to purchase telescoping hood prop rods, you can use anything that's an appropriate length around the house. This step also isn't required, it's just for the perfectionists out there that want the most undetectable possible finished product.

    Why not just replace the whole dash with a new one ? Why glue a new one over the old one ?

    • @DashSkin
      @DashSkin  ปีที่แล้ว +14

      While that might be a solution for some, the vast majority of drivers don't have the confidence to try to replace their entire dash on their own, especially since the replacement dashes crack as well! Imagine spending $500+ on a replacement part and several hours of labor (or spending much more in parts+labor to have a dealership or professional replace your dash) and the second dash succumbing to the same problem just 20k miles later! Our product is easy enough for anyone to install and is guaranteed for life never to fail, and can be obtained and installed for under $200.

      Because even if you replaced it the dash would just break again. I know cause we got the dash on our Suburban changed. After a while though, it cracked in the same spot as before. It might hold up for a year or two though.
