@@DarthSoto78 Yeah I can see why but I can see the good stuff too. Jackie Earle Haley was good as Freddy and obviously he was wasn't gonna compare to Robert Englund and people knew that. Even the worst Nightmare on Elm Street films (Freddy's Dead) he's good. People also complain about the CGI in the remake when it's really only that one scene where Freddy comes out of the wall. The characters aren't too good though. They just aren't too interesting. I like Nancy because Rooney Mara is great. I hate Quentin lol. I was kinda mad he was the one to be put in the game Dead by Daylight alongside Freddy. Sorry for the long response lol.
Omg I LOVE House on Haunted Hill 99. The scene where the woman comes across an empty room but looks in her camera and sees that it's filled with ghosts who then all turn to her is one the most iconic scenes to my life lol I saw it when I was like 11 and never forgot it
Same! Although it has issues in hindsight, horror-wise it did a lot of cool stuff and the set design was awesome. It’s one of the movies I’ll still go back and watch again for the scares and look of it.
I’m really looking forward to your review of The Black Phone (assuming you see it of course!) I’m normally a big scaredy-cat but it looks like a really good film!

I held out on watching the original Last House on the Left for so long because of similar thoughts that you mentioned, but I have to say it is a great movie! *That scene* you are referring to is more suggestive and doesn't dwell on it for too long as with other films in the same genre. I have not seen the remake, but the original has a very grimy feel as well similar to TCM
Love your tier lists, they aaaalways make me laugh in a good way. You should do one about the most with most cliches to the ones with less. Or another about how much were police officers, doctors, priests, mediums and/or soldiers actually helpful in those movies.

(and I'll admit to being That Guy about being as glad as I was to see My Bloody Valentine beat out House of Wax, but honestly it's a good remake that changes enough to deliver a surprise to those familiar with the original, but without feeling cheap about it)

@@societycrumbles I didn't really care for it, tbh. The original felt very visceral, like a lot of exploration cinema from that era. The 2009 movie I thought was pretty average
@@WoahLookAtThatFreak Fair. But to each is own, I just don't vibe with 70s and 80s horror I guess. The remake for some reason, I really like going back to.
u should definitely watch Suspiria original. I dont usually enjoy horror classics, but Suspiria is my favorite horror classic ever. It is such a treat to the eyes and the music is just phenonmenal
The thing with the Pet Semetary remake is that I really liked John Lithgow’s performance (nowhere near the original Fred Gwynne), but Lithgow tried to bring his best. Really loved this! I like that you take into account public opinion on some of the movies.
I'm not really surprised you liked so many of them since a lot come from your favorite horror era! Great video as always, made me wanna rewatch some of these.
thank you! house on haunted hill, evil dead, it, 13 ghosts and the house on the left are among my favorite horror remakes ever ^^. personally I love Hills have eyes, texas chainsaw massacre, dawn of the dead, 2006 black Christmas, the blob, bloody valentine, rob zombie's halloween, house of wax and prom night remakes (with House of wax, black christmas and the blob more than the originals). I agree that cabin fever, pet cemetery and the 2019 black christmas SUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK.
I'm little surprised Little Shop of Horrors (the 1986 musical) wasn't on here. It's one of those horror remakes that everyone agrees is more better than the original Roger Corman movie.
Suspiria original is one of the best film by Dario Argento and I loved it, My Bloody Valentine is also good Slasher film & The Last house on the left original is another good revenge film. Other remakes I would list them as follows: Worst - Friday The 13th, The Wicker Man, Psycho, Fire Starter, A Nightmare on elm Street, The Fog Average - Night of the Demons, The Slumber Party Massacre, Fright Night, The Fog, The Omen Good - Night of the Living Dead, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Maniac
I wish this was 2 hours long 😭😭 and I wish you put nightmare on elm street remake I wanna know your thoughts 😭 I personally hate it but it holds some sorta charm to me
I love the remake of the crazys starring Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchel so much better than the original in my honest opinion. Why did you not included that movie in this list as well? Other than that a great video keep it up👍
I'm totally gonna binge a bunch of your videos today and throughout the weekend! Love your vibe and your voice. Based on your Saw trap video I'm now subscribed to you.
The original Last House on the Left is pretty uncomfortable & unnerving to watch. Wes Craven and actor David Hess took things a step too far when trying to motivate at least one of the actresses in it to perform better. The 1972 movie might make a good topic for a Toxic Movie Sets vid if you have done that one yet.
Definitely check out the original Suspiria! I like the new one, but I’m partial to the original because the color and sound are so wild. They are such different movies; both great.
the only one I wholeheartedly disagree on is quarantine. not because it's bad (I mean, I don't like it, but eh), but because it's a remake of a found footage, contemporary movie. literally nothing is gained from it except no having to read subtitles if you're a native english speaker. for the ones that you didn't see the original, you pretty much nailed it. I love the original suspiria with a passion, but the remake is soooo good
The problem with the Child Play remake is that the Chucky movies ans show are still going strong. Halloween, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Nightmare on Elm Street didn’t have a movie in a super long time, but not Chucky. Very well explained on the Dead Meat kill count.
I love 1999's The House on Haunted Hill because just like TREMORS, it was a film that was always being replayed when I was a kid. You're right, most people dismiss it as "90's cheese" which yes it does have, mainly due to Chris Katan's hilarious performance. But the horror is so unnerving because its a Haunted Institution rather than a Haunted House and they greatly use that for affect, especially in the Saturation chamber sequence. Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead is my favorite zombie film of all time, that's just my opinion. I LOVE The Blob remake, Black Christmas 06, My bloody Valentine and Halloween 07.
There was a movie theater here that closed in the 90's. It sat abandoned for like ten years, and suddenly around 2003 they reopened it and started showing movies- but they didn't do anything to the building. It was full of displays and old movie posters from before. At that time I went to a midnight showing of The Blob remake. They only showed a few movies and it closed again. It was on a lot with a stand alone department store, a pharmacy and a couple little shops. In the past decade those other buildings closed and were demolished one by one. Now there is just an empty lot and the theater still sits there, exactly as it was when it first closed. It's so weird.
I find these kind of videos so interesting cause each horror fan has their own tiers from this because I personally LOVE the 2013 remake of Carrie😩 But I respect everyone else’s opinions cause it’s film! Film is subjective
House on Haunted Hill is one of my favorites, too. I like horror remakes for the most part. The original Suspiria is really good, very trippy for a movie in the seventies. I still need to watch the remake.
How on Earth does anyone make a ranking of horror movie remakes and LEAVE OUT John Carpenter's The Thing???? It's like making a ranking of gangster movies and leaving out Goodfellas!!
I've seen a lot of people argue that The Thing is not a remake of the original movie but an independent adaptation of the written story. I personally disagree but I can definitely see their point.
i think a great remake is: A.so famous to the point the remake is more recognizable than the original (the thing, the ring. etc) B.is a nuke remake. meaning it just destroys almost everything about the original movie/s and creates a whole new world (silent night, wrong turn etc)
I never heard someone say anything bad about the 2013 remake of carrie, I'm biased probably since that is my favorite horror movie of all time, so I'm offended!
I love your tiers. I think it's my favourite type of your content. And the my favourite thing is how different our taste in horror movies is (I.e. I love Hellriser and Nightmare on Elm Street but Texas Chainsaw is just meh for me) - but that makes it more entertaining. I love seeing other people's perspective, world would be incredibly boring of we all liked same things
The tier list titles peaked my interest here are my suggestions: - The Re-Animated (movies/franchises given a new life thru the remake/reboot) - Living? Dead? (love or hate, polarizing) - Should've stayed in the grave (unnecessary) - You can't kill what's already dead (so bad)
When you talked about the remake of The Grudge, I thought you meant The Grudge itself as a remake of Ju-On because I had completely forgotten that there has been a remake of The Grudge.
If you haven't, you should check out Carrie remake that was released in 2002. The actress who plays Carrie also portrayed the horror movie titled May. I think you would like Carrie (2002).
I agree with almost every movie on the list, and I'm surprised that you like quarantine, since everyone said is a bad remake and because of that I never saw it, now I need to watch it!.
I need to watch the theatrical version of the Rob zombie one. I watched the theatrical one and couldn’t finish it because of the alternate escape scene. We didn’t know it was the director’s cut
I know games aren’t your thing really but I’d love to see a review of the Quarry if that is something that interests you! It’s basically an interactive horror movie
If you like the original Black Christmas you’ll probably like the original My Bloody Valentine. Similar vibes Black Christmas is the better written of the two but def comparable in quality
One of the first scary movies I ever watched was the When A Stranger Calls remake, and I remember being so scared by it as a kid. I watched it again recently for shits and gigs and it was.... interesting hahahah
I remember the the original "When A Stranger Calls" was good.. I love older horror movies since grew up during the '80's so I' m a great fan of the original Friday, Nightmare, and Holloween. I think that Pet Semetary and Firestarter from the 1980's are just great adeptations of Steven King. I also loved Christine. I am not a fan of Carrie @ all the pigs blood thing just grosses me out.
Your tier lists are always fun! Though, I think one slip up here is using "love/hate", because all the others are based on your personal opinion, whereas "love or hate" is based on public opinion. So you get things like "Child's Play, pretty much a love or hate... but I love it." So put it in solid, :D Also, someone else mentioned a scary scene tier list, and I second that. Also also, a movie poster tier would be cool
church was the best part of the remake lol totally agree with the texas chainsaw remake. love it and the original. also love the haunting. watched that with my grandma and is so nostalgic to me now. same with house of wax. i watched it solely because jared padalecki was in it and i loved supernatural haha. evil dead i love but it legit scares me sometimes, especially when she pops up. i watched suspiria on your rec and was so surprised how much i liked it especially the ending which i know some people dont like. i so need to watch ringu because hiroyuki sanada is one of my all time faves. my bloody valentine was also one i watched because jensen ackles was in it lmao
Nice list. Rather than a tier system i prefer a straightforward ranking. These are some of my remake rankings from worst to best: 6 A Nightmare On Elm Street 5 Friday The 13th 4 Psycho 3 Child's Play 2 Halloween 1 The Omen
the invisible man would be another one that'd go in the league of it's own imo i think the reason why the bottom categories stayed pretty empty is bc a lot of the bad ones (poltergeist, firestarter, the omen, the grudge, nightmare on elm street 2010, piranha 3d etc.) weren't on it but there's been so many unnecessary/bad remakes atp it's hard to keep up

Good - Night of the Living Dead, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Maniac
SO GLAD House on Haunted Hill is in its own league. Pure late ‘90s horror!
After seeing your ranking (very similar tastes haha) I think you’d really like the remake of When a Stranger Calls!
My favorite
I agree about House on Haunted Hill. It's on Tubi TV right now and I've watched it everyday for like a week.
I wish this was 2 hours long 😭😭 and I wish you put nightmare on elm street remake I wanna know your thoughts 😭 I personally hate it but it holds some sorta charm to me
It’s wild Im just here rewatching this video having a kinda hard day and realizing 2 years ago I watched this 😭😭😭 I love this creator
I love the remake of the crazys starring Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchel so much better than the original in my honest opinion.
Why did you not included that movie in this list as well?
Other than that a great video keep it up👍
I’ve been watching your old channel for years and although I am a baby when it comes to actual horror I love all your content 🖤
I own that movie. Watched it once and never watched it again 😂
I love the original suspiria with a passion, but the remake is soooo good
Evil dead the remake IS SO GOOD!!! My fav horror movie!!
I absolutely love the remake of evil dead! I love the original don't get me wrong but the remake is fantastic 😍
Wonder if that old theater is hunted lol
I completely agree with you 110% on House on Haunted Hill I love that movie so much
It's a must watch for me every October! 🎃
I find these kind of videos so interesting cause each horror fan has their own tiers from this because I personally LOVE the 2013 remake of Carrie😩 But I respect everyone else’s opinions cause it’s film! Film is subjective
I think you can enjoy a movie but still recognize that it's a bad movie. Some of my favourite movies are not good films. 🤣
My personal fave.
The Thing 1982 is arguably the best horror film of all time. 🔥
I've seen a lot of people argue that The Thing is not a remake of the original movie but an independent adaptation of the written story. I personally disagree but I can definitely see their point.
i think a great remake is:
A.so famous to the point the remake is more recognizable than the original (the thing, the ring. etc)
B.is a nuke remake. meaning it just destroys almost everything about the original movie/s and creates a whole new world (silent night, wrong turn etc)
There needs to be a category below "so Bad" like, "Abysmal" and that is where 2010's "A Nightmare on Elm Street" goes...
I am a die-hard Vincent Price fan, but... I LOVED the House on Haunted Hill remake. Just love love love it...love both the original and remake :)
I never heard someone say anything bad about the 2013 remake of carrie, I'm biased probably since that is my favorite horror movie of all time, so I'm offended!
I subscribed to you the second you put House on Haunted Hill in a league of it’s own. Great horror remake!!!
The tier list titles peaked my interest here are my suggestions:
- The Re-Animated (movies/franchises given a new life thru the remake/reboot)
- Living? Dead? (love or hate, polarizing)
- Should've stayed in the grave (unnecessary)
- You can't kill what's already dead (so bad)
When you talked about the remake of The Grudge, I thought you meant The Grudge itself as a remake of Ju-On because I had completely forgotten that there has been a remake of The Grudge.
If you haven't, you should check out Carrie remake that was released in 2002. The actress who plays Carrie also portrayed the horror movie titled May. I think you would like Carrie (2002).
I agree with almost every movie on the list, and I'm surprised that you like quarantine, since everyone said is a bad remake and because of that I never saw it, now I need to watch it!.
Chloe Moretz was in so many horror remakes; Carrie, Amityville Horror, Let Me In, Suspiria, The Eye
I was looking for a Let Me In comment! Let the Right One In is amazing. I'm so gutted that Let Me In even exists
Ive always thought The Hills Have Eyes remake made the original unwatchable. It's so much better. The revenge stuff is so rewarding.
I will be playing that one! Maybe in a monthly recap I’ll talk about it. we’re almost done with Soma :)
House on haunted hill was the movie that got me into horror, great ranking
Another one in it's own league is the 2020 invisible man remake
yes that one is 🔥
Good catch
The original Suspiria is on Tubi, watch it now.
Your tier lists are always fun! Though, I think one slip up here is using "love/hate", because all the others are based on your personal opinion, whereas "love or hate" is based on public opinion.
So you get things like "Child's Play, pretty much a love or hate... but I love it." So put it in solid, :D
Also, someone else mentioned a scary scene tier list, and I second that.
Also also, a movie poster tier would be cool
I like that you included Thirteen Ghosts. That one doesn't get enough appreciation.
Love the list! The Thing is an iconic remake of the super cheesy "Thing from another World". Best remake imo!
Tony Goldwyns performance as the dad in the remake of last house on the left is incredible. literally game changing.
Do a tier list of all your tier lists
oh I will don’t worry!
Rank final guys and aussie horror
I love a lot of these remakes Was a kid when a lot of these movies were made 27 now
I see on your shelf the book, The Troop, by Nick Cutter. I read that book years ago and loved it! Really enjoy your show. Keep it up!🙂
I've never seen the 2013 Carrie. But I did sort of like the 2002 Carrie just because of the bold departure from the source material at the end.
church was the best part of the remake lol totally agree with the texas chainsaw remake. love it and the original. also love the haunting. watched that with my grandma and is so nostalgic to me now. same with house of wax. i watched it solely because jared padalecki was in it and i loved supernatural haha. evil dead i love but it legit scares me sometimes, especially when she pops up. i watched suspiria on your rec and was so surprised how much i liked it especially the ending which i know some people dont like. i so need to watch ringu because hiroyuki sanada is one of my all time faves. my bloody valentine was also one i watched because jensen ackles was in it lmao
You grew on me. I love how your site is theme based.
Great list. HOHH remake is one of my favorite remakes. I own every version. But how do you forgot The Thing ?
Nice list. Rather than a tier system i prefer a straightforward ranking. These are some of my remake rankings from worst to best:
6 A Nightmare On Elm Street
5 Friday The 13th
4 Psycho
3 Child's Play
2 Halloween
1 The Omen
Ofc you like remakes, your favorite decade was full of them! We need a second part tho
I think you would really like the original Suspira, it is also kinda a direct remake so if you like the remake you’d like the original
