I had the same experience with There Is Someone In Your House! I put it on casually and was quickly sucked in and very pleasantly surprised! Definitely added to the annual watch list.
I have been blessed to be obsessed with Malignant lol. You know what it is? As I get older, and also probably because of the stress of the pandemic, I have grown to appreciate the over-the-top, the ridiculous, and the absurd in my entertainment. So although The Night House is a very close second place for me, I’d honestly rather re-watch SLAXX.
Last night on soho was such a shock to me at how amazing it was. I was drawn in to the story immediately and was totally invested the entire time. Definitely in my top five of this year if not of all time
I always look forward to your videos even though sometimes we have different opinions. It makes life interesting. And sometimes you bring up points that I couldn't quite find words for and that's always nice. I hope 2022 is fantastic for you! Personally and in media.
I watched Last night in Soho on Christmas because of how passionately you talked about it in one of your previous videos! I can see why you enjoyed it so much, it was worth the wait and def one of my favs of 2021!
You should definitely read the book version of “We Need to Do Something”! It was one of my favorites of 2021. I can’t speak for the movie though since I haven’t seen it. That could be a cool comparison video! :)
Halloween Kills had incredible action because of the insane, brutal and gory deaths. Definitely the best deaths out of all the Halloween Michael Myers movies
@@zacgale4231 I'm with you. Absolutely atrocious. Worst script of the year right next to Old. Literally felt like an 8 year old wrote it. Jamie Lee Curtis was in the movie for maybe 90 seconds. Terrible characters. This movie takes stupid characters in horror movies to a whole other level. The scene with the girl shooting the gun in the car might legitimately be one of the worst scenes I have ever seen. This movie had no story. The gore was co but that's it. Worst ending of a movie I have ever seen. Felt like I got absolutely scammed out of $12 and an hour and a half of my life. I'm not seeing the next one in theaters🤣 not giving my money to these people again lmao
@@zacgale4231 mortal kombat!!! That movie was so good in my opinion, I loved it. Halloween kills was pretty decent, but I prefer the older Halloween movies
The Night House was my favorite film by far this year! It was the first movie in 5 years to genuinely terrify my at points. I could actually feel my heart racing and I found myself holding my breath. I love this movie and agree with you 100%
I love watching your channel because our opinions are always so different lol Heres my list 💕💕 1. Titane 2. Malignant 3.Nightmare Alley 4. Last Night in Soho 5. Oxygen 6. Antlers 7.The Green Knight 8. Till Death 9.Candyman 10. VHS 94 (yes some are more thriller/drama idc lol)
I remember being exited to watch Old, but while watchin it, it felt awkward to me maybe it was the acting that felt forced, or maybe the movie was to rushed (pun not intended)! Overal I felt underwhelmed with the movie! Nice video and than you for your suggestions i'm gonna watch a couple of them!
I really enjoyed watching the movie FRANK back in October. I still need to check out Krsy Fox’s new film: I LIVE ALONE. I’m all for Bonnie Aarons playing a serial killer. 🔪
Love the movies you love and don’t queen!! Everyone has different opinions abs that’s what do great with being able to watch different people and get out of a comfort zone!
Do I have COVID? Yes. But am I teleworking? Also yes. But is this a video by PossessedbyHorror that is not only a ranking video (my favorite kind), but also a video that starts with feline mischief? GIRL YES. Made my day 🥰
Surprisingly, I found Last Night in Soho to be middle of the road. I think it’s because I expected more horror from it but it didn’t deliver imo. The Night House is such a good movie! Definitely a top 5 of the year. Antlers pissed me off SO bad. I watched it after your review just to get an idea and yeah that movie sucked. Thanks Sarah for always providing us with amazing content 😄
I've never understood people getting mad about other people's opinions of art. Art is entirely subjective. There is no right and wrong when it comes to what movies someone likes. It's like saying you're wrong to like purple. Great videos👍
Scariest movie of the year for me was The Dark and the Wicked. This was creepier then any other movie I seen. This movie is about the devil coming for a dying mans soul. His family is by his side and alot of scary shit starts happenning. This movie is a hidden gem of horror. Everyone who like The Witch, shpuld check this movie out. The psychological horror is outstanding.
My favorite from 2021 is Malignant. That movie is so original, I loved it. I agree with you about Halloween Kills. And About The Conjuring, I was hoping more, it isn't so good like the others (1 and 2)
We def have similar opinions. I was also very surprised at how much I liked Theres Someone Inside Your House and Paranormal Activity Next Of Kin. I also really liked Last Night in SoHo. But The Night House was AMAZING and by far my favorite horror movie of the entire year. Gave me chills at some points watching it and I am soooo glad I chose to go see it in the theater. Can't wait to rewatch it!!
I love your honest opinions, it’s really enjoyable to watch someone who doesn’t go with the mainstream all the time :) I honestly haven’t watched a lot of horror movies that came out in 2021, but I personally liked the fear street trilogy
I agreed with a lot of this! Last night in soho is probs my fave but I actually really liked Devil Made me do it and its my fave conjuring film now. Have you saw Jeruzalem? i have a feeling you might like it, its a found footage film and kind of gave me some cloverfield vibes
It's so weird to me that people will come at you for your opinions when you are legitimately one of the only people whose film review videos I've seen walk the perfectly between opinion and fact. But that's just the internet I suppose. Most critics are happy to spoil things like plot, tone, surprises, or if the ending is happy or not and it makes it impossible to watch them if you haven't seen the film already. Or they ruin other films along with way with comparisons or just shouting SPOILER 1 second before they tear it apart. You're the one channel that I come to consistently for recommendations because you don't let your opinions cloud your explanation and you're careful not to just surmise the film as a review. You stand out from the pack because you're GOOD and somehow good became different from the norm. Whatever. Those dorks can pound sand. Keep doing excellent work in 2022!
Generally I agree with your list! Hated Old though. I was VERY excited for it and the acting/dialog really ruined it for me. It could have been a great movie differently casted with a better script.
I thought the acting was really realistic. Maybe not that compelling to watch compared to other horror films, but most of our conversations in real life would be kinda boring to watch and I kinda like the hyper-realistic approach (besides the portrayal of schizophrenia). Idk, interesting to hear different opinions on it.
@@virqueenia9519 I agree. It instantly became one of my most hated movies. So much that I skipped her talking about it because I just don't care to ever hear about it again.
@@budgetgamingna2003 im glad we can agree!! it had nothing good about it rlly... i just wanted it to be over lmao i wouldve stopped watching it if i was by myself
I'm really behind in my movie watching for last year. I saw Halloween Kills in the theater and had a good time. I plan on watching all of your Top 5 and some of the others when I get a chance. I'll probably watch Antlers and Malignant to see what my opinion is. Thanks, Sarah! P.S. : Read Wylding Hall, it's brilliant!
@shortnstuby is it a Del Toro's film? I like him, especially Pan's labyrinth and Shape of water! ☺️ ( I guess " creature feature " horror isn't for me ) I like creatures but not in horrors
It’s really crazy to me how we consistently have very similar opinions on the horror movies you review. This list would match mine if I made one almost completely. Loved this video!!
Last Night in Soho was my favorite of 2021! It's so unique. I can't think of any movie I'd compare it to I really wish I saw in Candyman 21 what everyone else did. :/ Maybe I have to rewatch it. My favorite thing about it was the lead actor's giant booty the camera kept panning on Halloween Kills kind of felt like a filler episode. I did enjoy it, but I think the final movie will largely determine how I ultimately feel about it
I thought Last night in Soho was racist. You should read the comment I left about it. The black dude got it way worse than anyone else. I'm surprised he made it out alive.
Oh my god it is so true about that Megan Fox movie! I told my mom about it and her first question was “was she unrealistically gorgeous the whole time?”
There's Someone Inside Your House was one of my most anticipated movies but fell short for me, BUT it's because I had read the book first and there was a lot more character depth and development. So characters I fell for in the books felt shallow by comparison on screen. I'm hoping if I take time away from it to separate the two I'll like the movie more on another watch. I think there's enough differences between book and film that it's worth a read for a comparison video!
Man I kind of hated Fear Street. I was excited to watch the trilogy because the ratings were pretty good but it was just a mess. Shallow characters, not even an attempt to be scary, and it had odd pacing. I didn't even watch the other two, are they better? In my opinion they tried to tap into nostalgia too much but honestly it would have worked if they just simplified the story and had better writing. It was a huge bummer.
The second one is the better one of them all. It still tap mostly into nostalgia, especially if you're a fan of Friday the 13th and similar movies, but it's a pretty decent movie. The acting is better then part 1, the story is more interesting and I personally think Sadie Sink is a much better lead actress than Kiana Madeira. Part 3 is not unwatchable, but to me it's the worst of the 3. If you like movies like The Witch, you might enjoy it, but I didn't liked and wouldn't recommend it. The acting is not that good, story is very confusing and don't get me started on the horrible fake 17th century accents.
The scariest scene in Last Night in Soho was the one which, in reality, would be interpreted as a black man (wrongfully perceived to be) committing SA against a white woman. She's screaming, "No! Get off! You're killing her!" while they are having sex. I was so worried he would be killed or arrested, bc that is what would happen in that situation. Instead, the film frames this as no one having any awareness of this perception of the event or possible outcome. We are supposed to sympathize with the woman for seeing a spoopy ghost, and the man just shrugs that ordeal off and says the next day, "sorry if I did something to upset you."
Listen-Last Night In Soho is the only horror movie I rewatched this year. (twice in a week) And I got close to rewatching Old as well. I love that we have connected during that part of this video. Also, SO happy you talked about Oxygen! It's underrated imo and I wish more people in our community would talk about it. I'm a little biased being an Alexandre Aja stan, but aside from the acting, that movie is such an achievement in directing.
Yessss! I love your opinions, even when I disagree! That’s what’s so awesome about horror, it’s subjective. I also LOVED Halloween and hated Malignant with a boiling passion. :)
Always be unapologetic and authentic, you're so sweet how can anyone be angry 😂 I don't agree with your choices sometimes but I always watch and you point me towards new horrors, I've not heard of many of these that have come out so thankyou!
Antlers I actually really loved but I loved your review on it so much. I understood every point you made. I had 0 knowledge or hype for it (I didn’t hear about it until it was in the theater somehow? I missed it idk) and I think it was mismarketed as a scary horror when it was a dark maybe gothic drama mystery at best? Malignant I really didn’t like. It was cool yeah but I just didn’t dig it either. I also have FOMO because I just didn’t click with it but I’m happy it has an audience! There’s something for everyone.
Hey, greetings from a small village in the English countryside! (Think Wicker man)😏. Thanks for being my go to channel when I need some horrific inspiration. I'm sure you'll have heard of this already but I wanted to mention the first horror film I ever saw! It was In the mid 80's and I had to watch the whole thing on a small black and white tv with no sound so as not to wake my mum. Being only 6 or 7 yrs old, and up later than ever before, I was almost beside myself with tension, anxiety and excitement! and that was just at the prospect of being caught by mum lol. The film was called "Dark night of the Scarecrow" and it blew my head off! 🤯 I've been a fan of the genre ever since. I don't think there's another genre that can create the truly raw and visceral emotions experienced watching a really great horror movie. All the best to you and your fantastic channel. Tom
Very happy to see you put Halloween Kills in the best section! That movie gave me everything i wanted as a Halloween fan and the kills were amazing. I have seen others say it was mediocre but i will defend this movie until the end of time. It was a great movie to watch and its definitely my favorite in the franchise
I 100% agree. The script isn’t the best but the film knocks it out of the park in everything else especially in the score, the acting, the kills, James Jude Courtney as Michael, the flashbacks, and cinematography. Kills is one of the better Halloween films and got me even more excited for Ends
@@tparkerevans7165 best acting? The guy from the breakfast club playing Tommy was laughable, and evil dies tonight becomes a meme its said so much. You have to have more than good kills for a slasher to be enjoyable in my opinion, the score is literally the same as every other Halloween movie. I'm glad you liked it, because I was so hyped for it but it's definitely bottom tier Halloween for me. I enjoy resurrection with busta rhymes more than I did Halloween kills.
@@brandon17760 Tommy’s dialogue has more to do with the writing than the actor’s performance. Resurrection is unwatchable for me while Kills is in my top 5 but to each own

for anyone wanting to experience the events from the conjuring Connecticut movie......try to get your hands on The Devil in Connecticut by Gerald Brittle. i dont believe in ghosts, yet i still get the creeps every time i look back on reading that book. my first read was back in 1990ish when i was 10. i read it again back when the first conjuring film was released. i wish i still had my copy. i inherited an original print from my mother. i then loaned it out to a friend who never returned it. she has been trying to find it for a couple of years now. she has no idea where she put it.
I love love LOVED Last Night in Soho! I was very excited for it- I pretty much knew that I was going to love it but I felt disappointed that the trailers gave too much away. Going in, I felt like I already knew the story (which I somewhat did), but it ended up being so much more. Even better than I anticipated. I will watch it over and over and over and...
Yes it was one of my favorite films of the year! I watched it with my parents are they are not horror fans AT ALL but they both loved Last Night in Soho. It was so different and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time!
unfortunately I didn't see many horror movies this year, but the first quiet place was my 2nd favorite film of all time, so of course i was hyped out of my mind for part II, and it delivered exactly what i wanted and more. its now my 2nd favorite film of all time and the 1st is my 3rd lol. awesome video sarah, i'm so glad to see you doing videos more often.
my favourite was "Last Night in Soho" followed by "Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City". lol. Man, I am a total sucker for craptastic b grade zombie films and I fucking loved every moment of that glorious trash D: and wow. "old", aye? I might need to actually give it a shot then.
@@The6Eternal6Dark6Lord I didn't mind the crap cgi as I was focused more on the human zombies going after them and they always tickle my pickle. lol. Especially with the settings they were in (mansion/police station). I also don't care if they follow how the characters are supposed to be in the games as I have no emotional attachment to them. I loved RE4 + 5 and then never continued. Although I do love Jill when she is going through her blonde/purple outfit phase. Aw I liked dumb ass Leon in the film. lol. Actually I pretty much liked all the characters. Even though they were tropey. I know it was an objectively bad film, but I also looooove the original 3 resident evil films and those are trash too. D: I just am able to get over many flaws of a film when zombies are involved I guess. Although this film doesn't have much re-watchability for me, whereas the other 3 I re-watched so many times over the years.

I have been blessed to be obsessed with Malignant lol. You know what it is? As I get older, and also probably because of the stress of the pandemic, I have grown to appreciate the over-the-top, the ridiculous, and the absurd in my entertainment.
So although The Night House is a very close second place for me, I’d honestly rather re-watch SLAXX.
the fact i like about ur videos is there are no silly intro or annoying starting!❤️
I’m so glad I started watching your channel. This video alone introduced me to so many great movies that I hadn’t heard of before! ❤️
Finally some love for VHS 94… no one else is putting that in the top list. Loved that one!
Last night on soho was such a shock to me at how amazing it was. I was drawn in to the story immediately and was totally invested the entire time. Definitely in my top five of this year if not of all time
Finally.... Our ratings were the same!! Subscribed!
I BEEN WAITIN FOR THIS ONEEE
Almost 200k!! Lets get it 💞
You should definitely read the book version of “We Need to Do Something”! It was one of my favorites of 2021. I can’t speak for the movie though since I haven’t seen it. That could be a cool comparison video! :)
Malignant was made for a certain type of horror fan myself included but I completely understand your point of view
Halloween Kills had incredible action because of the insane, brutal and gory deaths. Definitely the best deaths out of all the Halloween Michael Myers movies
Im glad you liked HK but I thought it was the worst horror film this year along side Mortal Kombat.
@@radzzy1563 I agree with everything you said.. Old was also awful but I’d rather watch that again over HK.
So thrilled to see this love for the Night House
The Night House was my favorite film by far this year! It was the first movie in 5 years to genuinely terrify my at points. I could actually feel my heart racing and I found myself holding my breath. I love this movie and agree with you 100%
I love watching your channel because our opinions are always so different lol
Heres my list 💕💕
1. Titane
2. Malignant
3.Nightmare Alley
4. Last Night in Soho
5. Oxygen
6. Antlers
7.The Green Knight
8. Till Death
9.Candyman
10. VHS 94
(yes some are more thriller/drama idc lol)
I remember being exited to watch Old, but while watchin it, it felt awkward to me maybe it was the acting that felt forced, or maybe the movie was to rushed (pun not intended)! Overal I felt underwhelmed with the movie!
Nice video and than you for your suggestions i'm gonna watch a couple of them!
I really enjoyed watching the movie FRANK back in October. I still need to check out Krsy Fox’s new film: I LIVE ALONE. I’m all for Bonnie Aarons playing a serial killer. 🔪
Love the movies you love and don’t queen!! Everyone has different opinions abs that’s what do great with being able to watch different people and get out of a comfort zone!
there are so many things i wanna tell you about your ratings i havent even got the courage to start, like .... the novice? not a horror...
great list as always 😄 titane was my favorite of the year but it’s definitely not for everyone. i also loved old and malignant
Loved Titane, only The Night House exceeded it. Luckily I saw both in the theater.
Do I have COVID? Yes. But am I teleworking? Also yes. But is this a video by PossessedbyHorror that is not only a ranking video (my favorite kind), but also a video that starts with feline mischief? GIRL YES. Made my day 🥰
hope you feel better soon! 🖤
@@PossessedbyHorror thank you!! 😁 It’s not too bad now, thankfully. Stay safe!
Just watched "the novice" and absolutely loved it. Such an intense amazing film..thanks for the recommendation!
fear street 1&2 were great. I was lost at the 3rd movie. I could re watch #2 over and over again. it was nostalgic for me.
Silent Night disturbed me so bad it surprised me, def top of my 2021. Thanks for the videos!
My favorite from 2021 is Malignant. That movie is so original, I loved it. I agree with you about Halloween Kills. And About The Conjuring, I was hoping more, it isn't so good like the others (1 and 2)
Conjuring 2 was already worse than the first part imo
This channel is awesome!
I’m so excited for the new Scream
I must have been living under a rock, I haven’t heard of most of these 🤯 I have so much to watch now! Thank you 😊 also, Night House was AMAZING!!
Yesss!! I’ve been waiting for this video!!!
I love your honest opinions, it’s really enjoyable to watch someone who doesn’t go with the mainstream all the time :)
I honestly haven’t watched a lot of horror movies that came out in 2021, but I personally liked the fear street trilogy
I can't believe I JUST realized that you're an MCR fan! They're my favorite band and I just never saw the Bullets cover in the background
It could have been a great movie differently casted with a better script.
old was soooooo bad i actually hated watching it
I thought the acting was really realistic.
Found you cus I needed a review for Night house but then subscribed. Good work and keep it up
I thought Candyman was the most underwhelming horror of the year. I had such high hopes for it but at the end I was like "that's it?"
turn the list 50% around and i agree 🤣🤣 so it was a year for all flavors, i think thats great!
happy new year
I'm really behind in my movie watching for last year.
Anthers is probably one of the worst movies I've seen, and I'm not that hard to please when it comes to this genre.
@shortnstuby is it a Del Toro's film? I like him, especially Pan's labyrinth and Shape of water! ☺️
( I guess " creature feature " horror isn't for me )
I like creatures but not in horrors
It’s really crazy to me how we consistently have very similar opinions on the horror movies you review. This list would match mine if I made one almost completely. Loved this video!!
Last Night in Soho was my favorite of 2021! It's so unique. I can't think of any movie I'd compare it to
I really wish I saw in Candyman 21 what everyone else did. :/ Maybe I have to rewatch it. My favorite thing about it was the lead actor's giant booty the camera kept panning on
Halloween Kills kind of felt like a filler episode. I did enjoy it, but I think the final movie will largely determine how I ultimately feel about it
I thought Last night in Soho was racist. You should read the comment I left about it. The black dude got it way worse than anyone else. I'm surprised he made it out alive.
@@JebeckyGranjola Worse than all the men Sandie killed?
Oh my god it is so true about that Megan Fox movie! I told my mom about it and her first question was “was she unrealistically gorgeous the whole time?”
I love how honest and real you are with reviews❤️
Congrats on 200K 😄😄😄
Love Unapologetic opinions, especially when it comes to movies. That’s how we learn from each other!
I just found your channel and I freaking LOVE you!
Absolutely agreed.
Resurrection is unwatchable for me while Kills is in my top 5 but to each own
Agreed! This movie was my favorite of the year! I still listen to the soundtrack today😍
I know from one of your previous videos that you've been looking for more space horror, I am almost done with The Silent Sea on Netflix and since you said you like water based, you should give this show a shot
I love how people genuinely love malignant like me or hate this movie. Like it’s easily my top 5 movie of all time!
Halloween Kills is amazing!! I loved it as well… New for the franchise which is needed…
for anyone wanting to experience the events from the conjuring Connecticut movie......try to get your hands on The Devil in Connecticut by Gerald Brittle.
i dont believe in ghosts, yet i still get the creeps every time i look back on reading that book. my first read was back in 1990ish when i was 10. i read it again back when the first conjuring film was released. i wish i still had my copy. i inherited an original print from my mother. i then loaned it out to a friend who never returned it. she has been trying to find it for a couple of years now. she has no idea where she put it.
Imagine hating Malignant. Y'crazy!!??? jk I understand how you could dislike it. Mostly because I don't really understand why I love it so much.
yeah it was one of the best horrors ive ever seen this chick is crazy lol
Great videos. Keep it up!
It was so different and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time!
unfortunately I didn't see many horror movies this year, but the first quiet place was my 2nd favorite film of all time, so of course i was hyped out of my mind for part II, and it delivered exactly what i wanted and more. its now my 2nd favorite film of all time and the 1st is my 3rd lol. awesome video sarah, i'm so glad to see you doing videos more often.
my favourite was "Last Night in Soho" followed by "Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City". lol. Man, I am a total sucker for craptastic b grade zombie films and I fucking loved every moment of that glorious trash D:
and wow. "old", aye? I might need to actually give it a shot then.
Resident evil was a disappointment for me, the characters are like a cosplay, they made Leon an idiot and the CGI is shit
@@The6Eternal6Dark6Lord
I didn't mind the crap cgi as I was focused more on the human zombies going after them and they always tickle my pickle.
@@rabbitmaze yeah I guess me too haha I love the first 2 with Milla
I liked your list. One thing that is important to know is that negative comments is a part of life. It must never affect you or us. They are opinions we can read and move on from. Once they are read they are in the past. To have a balance we need the positive along with the negative.
