- G-Shock watch design started with a "hallow case structure" that can withstand drops. In 1983 the DW5000 the first G-Shock watch was created. The DW5000 was built with a shock resistant case and bezel structure. The all-directional face guard and band was also designed with a shock resistant formation that protected the watch and kept it safe. In 1994 Casio improved the toughness with a "Capsule Tough" design as well as added shock absorbers to the band. In 2006 resin covered buttons were added to their "Master of G Mudman" watch design to prevent particles from getting into the watch. Today a new line of Aviation analog watches were created with "Triple G Resist" technology able to withstand vibration, shock, and centrifugal force.

Only the Japanese would think of making such a watch. Truly an icon. The way watches are supposed to be: not just beautiful, but tough as nails. Let's see a Rolex do that.

I bought my first G Shock when I was 10 years old with money that I had saved. I am now 29 years old and still wear G Shock watches for everyday use. So iconic and beautiful, excellent value for money.

@@goku445 sorry for the very late reply, I randomly came back to this video and saw your reply. I still own my first G Shock, it’s a black DW-004 model. I actually just replaced the batteries in my G Shock DW-6900 SB 8 metallic grey/red and an old Casio CMD-40 tv remote control watch I have and now they’re both working again. Your comment has reminded me to look for my first G Shock and I’ve found it in great condition, the battery has obviously died now but I’ll buy another battery and put that in my first G-shock and see if it’s still working.

@@goku445 Will do, just ordered a pack of 2 Duracell CR2016 batteries on ebay so just waiting for them now.
@@goku445 Just spent an hour giving the back plate and plastic case with all the nooks and crannies a good clean and replaced the battery. The old battery had just started to erode but luckily only on the side that touches the inside of the back casing and not the side against the components. As soon as I put the new battery in it came back to life and the light is working great, I’d forgot it was like a bright turquoise kind of colour. All the pieces went back together nicely and it looks a lot better now it has had a good clean. Really happy it still works, it’s quite nostalgic putting it back on my wrist snd remembering back to when I was 10.

These g shock watches truly symbolize the obsession that the Japanese have with punctuality and accuracy. Extremely practical, durable, long-lasting, and very very accurate. The Swiss watch industry didn't stand a chance. For pure timekeeping needs, a g shock square is absolutely worth the money.
This is the choice of watches of both RoboCop and Terminator.

Yang Xiong my 1984 dw5200 will cover most of those bases, not so sure about bullet proof, though!

Waste of money to buy a Rolex scuba diver watch or any European watches, there are other Japanese brand watches but still this brand is better and and still the most favorite for me and maybe to others, Congratulation Japan, great work!!!

The most affordable and most durable and fashionable watch on earth ... i love G SHOCKS and so does the special ops all over the world... i was once laughed at when i had my first G SHOCK by a spoil rich kid when i show my friends the G SHOCK mum bought me and then he bragged about his watch, and how expensive and good it is...
I got pissed off when he said that the person that bought the G SHOCK is a cheap f@$#ing low life and he was referring to me but didn't hear the first part of the conversation that my mum bought it as a gift for me... so i tooked the watch off my wrist and i hit the watch on the table really hard and said "my watch is cheap but durable just like me and now I'm going to test how durable your watch and your face is"....
Yeah so the rest was history and what happened is from your imagination... 1 thing for sure his expensive watch wasn't as durable as my G SHOCK !!!!

and in spite of those claims, G-Shock still has mineral glass, not scratch resistant material. What good is this "super duty" if you can easily scratch it.
Watch is "unusable" once glass is scratched and you can only throw it to garbage bin.
Mineral glass has a much better resistance to hard IMPACT FORCES.
Whereas, "scratch resistant" glass exposed to hard IMPACT FORCES, most often than not WILL EASILY CRACK... believe me, that is a fact.
Scratches, are easily polished away, whereas, a crack instantaneously COMPROMISES the integrity of the watch...
