Don't know about the 5 speed auto trans! But with the 4 speed auto trans you can also manually switch off the stability control and the tracion control at the same time by depressing the button for three seconds. swithcing off tops the systems from intervening and casuing you to get stuck.
If you’re in low range it automatically switches off stability and traction control but yes there is a button that can disable it for high range and for two wheel drive If so decide.
Sorry I’m new to off roading, when do i need to use H4 and when to use L4? Also to go back to H2 i need to use Neutral and go straight to H2 or i need to engage H4 first and then back to H2?

The grinding/crunch happens with my hilux also when I go from H4 to L4 only though. it's fine from H2 to H4, but if I engage the clutch from H4 to L4 there's no grinding/crunching anyone else experience this or is my transfer case having issues ?
@@chuckychucky9914 I am too. I bought my N70 recently. After a few sessions of using it/trialling it, the grinding has subsided from N-L4. I may still need to replace a bushing though. Not sure what the problem was but probably because my transmission was still engaged. Anyways I noticed this was 8 months ago, have you found a definite fix?
I Have a 2008 SR5 4x4 - When I put the foot on the brake -- Shift into netrual-- then move 4WD Stick from H2 -> H4 / L4 and then back into Drive, I do not get a green 4WD Light come on, I am not sure if it is the Fuse to the sensor light, or if the ADD is not pumping air into the line, and Help would be appreciated
@@SmiteGoDx I have the exact same problem in my 2014 SR5, just took it in for a service yesterday and they reckon the bulb must be broken, I’ll keep you updated
Can be different with different model years. Generally can tell if it’s engaging by the fact that it has really short gear throws and tends to rev the engine in low range. If in doubt, consultant mechanic
@@tlr4x4 that is not correct, you do not have to stop in the AT to get into 4H, you need to be below the speed of 50kmh. It states as much in the manual. I have a 2014.

Please mention if the grinding (as in no syncro) when shifting, while stationary is normal or not ?
Yes it can happen, just make SURE your in neutral in either a automatic N or in manual that should avoid it

Does the N70 have a locking differential?

Try reversing your car when it's in H2, most probably it will go away.

What if you dont have traction control, how do you know your in low 4
The position of the lever and really shortened gear ratios are tell-tale signs you’re in 4 low
We're 4wd switch is in the gearbox
Can you go from H2 to H4 while driving?
In The manual version 8 km an hour but in the auto you have to fully stop before changing from H2 to H4

Do you prefer auto gearboxes for off road?
I have found I have a lot more Control with an automatic gearbox . Especially handy on steep rock climbs and uneven terrain.
These years hilux have hill hold assist?
The automatic gearbox does hold the vehicle wend on steep upward slopes but there is no auxiliary hold assist as featured on later model Toyota

Yes exactly the same running gear as for the automatic gearbox earlier models are a four speed auto later models are five speed auto
