Somehow I feel like you craftily left that one soldering mistake there on purpose. With it there, showing the functionality of the provided error check board was a whole lot more educational than if everything had been perfect from the get-go.
I'm sure it seems like that but that was actually real. I thought I had them all soldered on all the way. It ended up being really good so I could show how the test board worked.
I thought the same but then I realized that the lights on or off looked the same from my phone's screen so I just had to trust our favorite technician!
@@Tronicsfix i hear ya. I've attempted fixes with ribbon cables with appliances and paintball gear. Never worked out for me haha. I am terrible with ribbon cable apparently.
Just put a kit like this by Extremerate on my Series X controller. I love it. The buttons feel and sound so good I can't stop clicking them lol. One thing I would say is be careful not to over-tighten the screws that hold the buttons to the inside of the controller. I over tightened two screws and it made little bumps on the underside of the controller. Nothing major and nothing that I can actually feel but it's still annoying that it happened.

This was a great tutorial video and a really cool mod. It's pretty cool that there is a company that offers this kind of product... But for me personally, I would prefer to just buy the Xbox pro controller (cuz I ain't got time for dat mod)
this mod saves you about a hundred bucks so unless your job is paying you 100 bucks an hour I think there's enough time also considering this mod can be done in about 30 min if your semi-experienced and have your equipment ready well you can do the math
I just installed this kit and it’s super glitchy. I’ve been over all my solders 5 times now and every time I hook up the test board it comes back good, yet sometimes my buttons don’t work randomly and my Y button quit working 2 minutes into a game and hasn’t come back. My controller is basically bricked and now I get to uninstall this kit in an attempt to salvage my controller.
I Wonder if it works With the light buttons from extremerate? Or is it too much extra in the Controller Casing? World be a nice Controller with all the mods in one 🤔
So I used the kit it works fine . I was able to remap and use the extra buttons with out a problem. for about 10 mins then My left d-pad input doesn't stop activating And my right d-pad input doesn't work at all pressing the right d-pad input disables the continuous left d-pad input . I know that left and right d-pad inputs are TP15 and TP14 contact points respectively. What did I do wrong any help would be great Also the bottom contact patch doesn't work for remaping. I am using method two ( view + rb + lb) not an issue thought
I installed this same kit on a brand new controller, same model. Followed the directions exactly. Tested positive for contacts. Now the left trigger is continuously active and rendered the controller useless. What do you think the problem is? Does not save remapping either with a fully charged battery.
Great tutorial. I bought and installed mine after watching this video. I have a regular Xbox one elite controller but I felt it was missing the Bluetooth connection. I also changed my joysticks and d pad to magnetic. Also I felt a bit uneasy unsoldering the rumble motors so I left them on during the install.

I have a really stupid question - what is this kit for? I honestly don't know what remap and trigger stop means and I've been using xbox controllers since 2014.
I want to learn to solder electronics like this, how much should I expect to pay for a soldering iron for a hobbyist? Any decent budget brands I should look at?
Whoa that controller design. A good bit more complicated than Xbox360 one. I can see why they did that, to get rid of the wonkiness that was the classic Xbox D-Pad. Don't appreciate a handful soldered connections like for the motors that could be plugs. Also the triggers now seem to be Hall Effect, like on the Dreamcast. Pity not the sticks too. The remap kit is remarkably well-designed to deal with this insanity though, and reasonably priced too.
Hi Steve, hope you're okay. I have a faulty xbox one original I purchased a while ago. It had power issues to begin with so I switched out the front board and it powered on. Lol its crazy i was just watching the ps4 one this morning great video :)
Ha, ha...that's crazy!
Out of the two ps4 and the Xbox one which is the better bang for the bucks and which is more reliable?
Xbox is more reliable overall. PlayStation has better exclusives. Battery packs for the Xbox are trash though. Rechargeable aa batteries are better.
If you are cheap, get the Xbox. If you want exclusives, and want to unplug your console everynight, get the PlayStation.
How much solder do you need on each of the test points?
