I was able to get them to do a "Goodwill replacement" outside of the warranty period on one of the controllers. The grips on that one lasted about 8 months, gaming 5-10 hours per week. At that point I called with the intent of having the controllers repaired at my expense, and was told that was not an option. Thanks tronix for this video, it showed me how to take apart my controller so that I could transplant a thumbstick from an older controller onto the one I use a lot. The left thumbstick had a huge chunk of the padding falling off and barely hanging on. So I am glad I was able to replace it myself without having to pay 60 for a new controller
Glad I watched this one today. 👍😁 I've done several drift stick fixes by replacing the stick entirely, but using the heat gun method never occurred to me hehe... I may try that next time. Also, I'm going to look for the potentiometers as an individual purchase, the thumb sticks are inexpensive enough but if I can save a dollar or two why not do it hehe...
Comment back if you can find them. I’ve not looked but would be surprised if they were available. Even still each analog stick has two potentiometers so two repairs per stick. Would be nice just to buy the pots though.
Something so expensive as this controller can have excess plastic on the buttons? This is so disappointing... Seeing you cut out the part of plastic residue from the manufacturing process shocked me, to say the least. Really poor quality for such an expensive, 'elite' product...
Isn't that just a figurative expression? At least I hope it was. Over here electronics are recycled for materials. Most of a controller is plastic, so it's either used for a new plastic product or burned for electricity/heat (burning plastic is not that much different from burning oil). The metal parts and electrical components are harvested for the raw materials/elements. I thought things work the same in all the developed countries now. The typical, old-fashioned landfills haven't even existed over here for many years now.
@@Dexter101x Burnable waste is burned in modern, specialised facilities designed and built for that exact purpose. The exhausts are filtered and monitored. Sure, it's toxic, since even carbon dioxide is toxic for aerobic organisms, but it doesn't matter in practice. After all, without any carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, we would all die of hunger when plants ceased to produce carbohydrates. It's more ecological, not to mention economical, to burn plastic for energy than to bury it somewhere (or throw it into the ocean). The energy generated by the waste burning plants is reduced from the amount of energy needed to be generated elsewhere, in traditional power plants. The remainder (ash) from the waste burning facility is much less than the carbage going in, obviously, and less environmentally harmful, as far as I know, because all organic compounds are gone.

@@Tronicsfix good point ! Thanks man, always enjoy your vids :)
"So much rage, so much destruction.... "
Unbelievable that 25 Controllers cost more than a very strong Gaming PC. Insane
Something so expensive as this controller can have excess plastic on the buttons? This is so disappointing... Seeing you cut out the part of plastic residue from the manufacturing process shocked me, to say the least. Really poor quality for such an expensive, 'elite' product...
You're Right, totally agree!!!
18:34 Boom! Magic! Fixed!
Loved that
I think there should be a better solution than just throw our stuff into landfills though
Agreed
Isn't that just a figurative expression? At least I hope it was. Over here electronics are recycled for materials. Most of a controller is plastic, so it's either used for a new plastic product or burned for electricity/heat (burning plastic is not that much different from burning oil). The metal parts and electrical components are harvested for the raw materials/elements. I thought things work the same in all the developed countries now.
The typical, old-fashioned landfills haven't even existed over here for many years now.
@@herrakaarme Putting plastics into fires is toxic
It's soo satisfying 😍. Looking at tronix fixing them
I lived a dejavu watching this video, I remembered that it was from a previous video. crack!
25:55 you need to send one of this pens to vince, even though his micro wire soldering is getting amazing over time, a little bit of help never hurts
First controller definitely Rage quit playing War Zone lol
Lol...definitely!
You should really start using a multimeter to diagnose minor connectivity issues (e.g. Buttons), it would allow you to save lots of time.
My roommates girlfriend spilled beer on mine and then put it in rice.
Did it still work?!.
@@that_crankytf9571 no, now it’s just a controller with rice stuck to dry beer on the inside.
@@GOWvMatchstick did she atleast pay for it?
@@vursuh nope
Dude the amount of information in this video is so helpful for anyone diagnosing issues thank you.
I really enjoy this kind of videos. somehow it give me a inner peace watching building/fixing electronic though I don't really understand the engineering of the electronic
This looks fun to do. Troubleshooting problems is fun for me. I can tell he enjoys it himself. I fix my friends controllers and internet problems. I wanna start on consoles next. Love the channel bro. You definitely inspired me.
Thanks for showing us how to do this. Very interesting. You're quite a genius!
im not even sure why i like your videos since im not diy tech repair, but you do an awesome job. thanks for fixin stuffs :)
