  • Join along with me for my last adventure before winter hits. Here I drive to Marble, Colorado to go explore the ever famous Crystal Mill power station. This mill used to provide hydroelectric power to all the mining towns in the area back in its heyday, but now sits as an abandoned reminder to the past. Afterwords I continue on where most people turn around to go drive the Devils Punchbowl which is a narrow jeep trails, with off cambers and cliff faces. During which you are rewarded with beautiful views and picturesque waterfalls.

    What month was this? September or October? I’m heading here mid October, hoping leaves are good.

      I honestly can't remember. I just looked up when the leaves changed color and went around that time.

    Is a 4 wheel drive truck recommended to visit Crystal Mill???

    • @CodeBrownProductions
      @CodeBrownProductions  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To just go to Crystal Mill no. It's a little rocky so I would not suggest a low car. But any SUV or truck would makenit easy. Beyond Crystal Mill is a more difficult off road trail that will require a high clearance vehicle and 4x4.

    Great angles, colors, comments. Thanks for sharing your trip. Much appreciated. Trying to plan a trip with the family, your video is super helpful. I like the fact that you included footage of the paved road up to this trail. I have a stock 4x4 SUV and it’s nice to know this is accessible.

    You picked the perfect day for your trip, beautiful colors, water falls and blue skies, I've never done anything like that before, but my wife and I are planning a trip to Colorado to explore the beauty of nature, hopefully we can run into you on the trail. God bless.

    Just found your channel and subscribed ! I used to live in Colorado and have driven to this mill. I wish I had a jeep for the trip. I drove a 2004 GMC 2500hd duramax with 6" lift. Extended cab long bed. It was a little tight in places! My wife and aunt were a little nervous. Haha. The Colorado colors are absolutely beautiful.

    • @CodeBrownProductions

      If you're just going to Crystal Mill, yes very easily. If you're gonna continue on to past the mill is where it gets harder.

  • @ronbailey8504
    @ronbailey8504 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The mill provided compressed air for the tools in the adjacent mines and operated the stamping mill that used to sit just to the right as you face the mill. It's called the mill simply because of the mill that used to be there. It never did provide any electric power. Enjoyed the video, have not been there since 2009.

    The most photographed place in Colorado! Crystal mill is beautiful, but for me the trip up there wasn't much fun!
    The lands above hanging lake are absolutely amazing fyi, if you get up there... I hear there are 4WD trails to get up there!

    Love your videos, been a subscriber for a while now. Thanks for showing there is parking at the beginning of trail. We will be flat towing our Jeep behind our motorhome. Want to hit this on our way from Estes Park to Black Canyon.
    How far past the mill was that beautiful waterfall at the end?

    • @CodeBrownProductions
      @CodeBrownProductions  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a bit down the road. But just know the trail gets a lot rougher after the mill.

      This was about a year and a half ago in the fall during the changing of the colors. I'm not sure of the exact date but I would assume beginning of October from when I posted the video.

    Enjoyed your video. I notice we both get our audio from the TH-cam free stuff :-), sounds good to me. You've got a new subscriber. One question if you don't mind. My photo buddy and I plan to make that trip to Crystal Mill this coming fall, if Covid hasn't closed it down again, and I'm wondering if you know the exact date you went there. Of course I'm aware that the fall colors don't always pop on the same day each year, but you really hit it at the peak. Thanks.
