The 40mm brass case medic version with the cream dial and forest green strap is my favorite. Every time I tried to pick one up the wait time was absurd. I actually forgot about the watch until I saw this video. I might try again see if things have changed. I also really love the black drop shadow on the numbers, it looks great. Oh and I had almost the same experience with my 42mm sapphire Seagul 1963 and watch straps. I didn't wear it much because it came with a super cheap nato. I got a Geckota that came with an extra black leather strap. It had like 4 cross stitches by the lugs that are the exact same champagne color and it was the perfect size. I put it on and the watch looks gorgeous now. I can't believe how much it elevated it.
Brass and stainless steel also available in 37mm and 40mm size, the "doctor version" is only available in 40mm, but also in brass and stainless steel. Although my comment is came after 2years of the original post of your video, and I saw this maker about a year ago. So maybe 2years ago there was no 40mm option for the "non-medic".
I just purchased one of these watches and I can't wait to receive it. Put in the order the beginning of the week, and I've been getting constant emails from them updating me on where things are. Today I got an email from Judy with a photo of the very watch I'm getting and all the accessories. I'm blown away at the fantastic customer service and communication. What an amazing company, and I look forward to purchasing more of their products in the near future!
One day. A limited edition hand wind movement. But for now it is an excellent timepiece. Highly legible, good lume, gorgeous throwback looks, the bund strap gives it a macho look. And a reliable Miyota automatic movement. Good job Vario.!
Thank you for a great video. I absolutely get you on the stories that the old trench watch could tell. The value of these objects goes far beyond the aesthetics of the objects themselves, and then to hold the modern version in the Vario is bringing the past to life. It tells the time, it tells a story. You have educated me an widened the scope of my own interests. Enjoy it. I will check out the website. The NATO on the Kuoe just made that watch into something really special. Now I'm going to be looking at creating something similar. It might mean less money going on watches of lesser quality and so investing in something better. That's what I'm learning anyway. All TH-cam watch reviewers should watch this video. It was literally something else.
@@the1010watchclub Definitely. I decided to pull the trigger and order one of these. It reminds me a lot of one of my grail watches, the RGM 801-COE, which is one of the few American watches made with an in-house mechanical movement but, man oh man do you have to pay a premium for the privilege of owning one of those.
Great review, I like the efforts you've done to put it together and how you don't flood the simplicity of the design with too much words. It acutally works very well at describing how the watch feels like. Well done and, it's quite refreshing. Your version of the Vario is lovely, and is most certainly a loyal reproduction of an aged watch. Something between the past and the present. I've taken a risk picking the white dial / white numeral ( red 12 ) version. It actually looks like how a brand new one would have looked like. Just like the old one you got, but new, yet I don't have a personnal connection to that look, because, spoiler alert, I'm not over a hundred years old, and never owned a brand new one. I've always experienced them in their old days. So I thought it was interesting to go almost full in the past, design wise, and see how it goes. It should arrive during august. Ps : your original trench watch is likely painted with radium. If it has a crystal on, ignore the following ( I just can't tell if it does ). While the alpha radiations it emits are little to no worry at all ( a sheet of paper is most likely enough to block them...) I'd recommend putting a crystal on it, or storing it in a box and to not manipulate the dial. It's the accumulation within the body ( radium sticks to bones / teeth ) that can causes harm. Not a big concern though, it really is a matter of quantity and accumulation over time, in the body.
Timex is quartz, 30m WR, and has a mineral crystal. I'll take the sapphire crystal, screw down crown and caseback, enamel dial, and 200m WR of the Vario any day, even for the extra money.
Vario does also offer a 40mm version of this watch in a brass case
But still with the silly 4pm crown 😞

Good job Vario.!
Wow, I definitely want the brass version of this piece!!
Oops, I already watched this ...it's better looking the second time!
better each time you look!

This is the first review I've seen that shows what the watch comes in.
It’s a really cool accessory 👍🏼

Thank you for another great review Jonah. Congratulations on your new Vario Trench watch, looks absolutely amazing 👏 👍
Thank you! I’m wearing it as I type this and I’m still loving it
Congrats on 1K!
Thank you so much!
Great review.....love the dimensions. A fabulous recreation of an iconic watch design ⌚👍👍👍
Thank you! Agreed
Cool, I'm still waiting on mine. May 26
There's already a 40mm version with this dial in Brass (That's what I have coming) - Nice to see a review of the production watch. Thanks.
Good point! Now you have me wanting to add the brass too...
Love that watch 😍 great review
Thanks for watching!
Nice detailed review !
Thanks!
The lume of that original trench watch is most likely radium, so be aware. That is if it has lume.
Good point!
Very much looking forward to my 40mm version arriving 😀
Has it arrived ?
@@dietznutz1 No. But it is in its way. I am tracking 😊😊😊
Thanks for the review!
Thanks for making some great watches!
hi. where its made ?

Thanks for the radium tips! It doesn't have a crystal but I'll make sure to be careful. Let me know how you like the Vario when it arrives!
Yup I ordered the 40mm brass version (non-medic)..
The 4.15 crown kills it for me. ☹
I like this
Looks like the Pulp Fiction watch.
It replicates exactly that watch.
Beautiful but… the timed midget Japan predates this is AT LEAST as well made and about $100 bucks new
