Foley is a Professor of Patristics in the Great Texts Program at Baylor University, a Professor of Theology at the Aquinas Institute, and the author of approximately 350 articles and fourteen books, including The Politically Incorrect Guide to Christianity, Drinking with the Saints, Drinking with Saint Nick, and Drinking with Your Patron Saints. Mike and his wife Alexandra live in Waco, Texas with their six children, twelve chickens, two turtles, one dog, and 12,000 bees.

    loved this discussion! im here drinking my scotch and smoking my cigar! had a great time and really enjoyed this discussion. this discussion really hits me as my family was destroyed by alcohol with my parents splitting up when i was young. thank God i did not follow my fathers ways. i can honestly say that my father is three years sober but a bit to late. saint joseph ora pro nobis!

    No problem with drinking in moderation; however, there is a genetic tendency to alcholism. If this is in your family, be very careful. This genetic is very strong in those with an Irish/ Celtic heritage. However, when it comes to inhaling a toxic substance like tobacco, the message should always be no ! It is going to be so interesting to see how this is address!

    I’ll be honest, I wish there was a bigger discussion about keeping one’s physical health and especially, strength training/athleticism, than whether alcohol/tobacco have a proverbial whiff of sanctity.

    I think we're down to about 6 locations for Trappist Beer. 3 in Belgium, 1 in Germany, 1 in France and 1 in England.
