This was funny... but funny because I traded my ctx 1300 in for a Harley Street glide and 1.5 years later I have my CTX 1300 back. I love the bike! Good video!
Laurie Cox couple of reasons. Number one was I wanted, and still want, a motorcycle that will go down a dirt road. And maybe a trail if it’s not too technical. The suspension on the CTX1300 is not going to let that happen. And of course that’s not what the CTX is for. I miss the V4 on the CTX but I’m really happy with my CB500X for now.
It was a while ago but I think I bought them on Amazon. I don’t see them now but there are a number of different red mirrors available there. I’ve bought a lot of inexpensive mirrors on Amazon and rarely needed to return them.
Wow, that intake sound is beautiful. Makes it sound like it's some supercharged monster lol. I love me some v-twins but in my opinion you do not beat a v4 sound as far as motorcycles go. I had a 2010 vmax that I loved. This kind of looks like the "touring version" of that with the v4, shaft drive and seating position haha. I've been looking at getting me a bagger (been mainly looking at getting a Kawasaki Vaquero) but I honestly had no idea these were even a thing. There's a surprising amount of the 1300's around me... I'm actually super interested now lol. Well, I'll probably still get a Vaquero but I am glad I have something else worth looking at now.
Thanks for your input! It’s funny because I’ve bought and sold a bunch of bikes since I had the CTX. And my current two bikes are a Yamaha FJR (awesome) and…. Wait for it… a Kawasaki Vaquero. The Vaquero is very comfortable and a good performer after I bought the Ivan’s ECU tune. Good luck to you. And yes, V4s are sweet.
I'm in the market as we speak. I'm currently looking at a 2014 Honda CTX 1300 deluxe and a 2015 Yamaha FJR 1300, both around the same price. Seeing that you've owned each, witch one would you recommend ? Thanks for your time!!! @@QuentinsMotoVlog
@@leoclement3801 that’s an interesting choice. The Honda has a super comfortable seating position and the engine is wonderfully smooth and satisfying. The FJR is a rocket ship with a much more powerful engine and aggressive riding position. So they’re quite different. I think it comes down to comfort versus horsepower. Good luck!
@@QuentinsMotoVlog What you riding now? I'm working my way up to a Goldwing I think eventually. haha. I ride mostly an older cb750 around town. I like the vintage but I need something comfortable for long rides.
@@DLSheaux I hear you. Faced the same problem. I want something light, fun and easy for daily use, but I need something bigger and more comfortable for longer trips or with my wife. I have two bikes now that fit the bill. I have a 2015 Honda Valkyrie, the muscle-bike version of the Goldwing. And I have a 2019 Kawasaki W800 Cafe I absolutely love.
I have a Fury with a chopper seat & it’s what Harley tried to make for 70 yrs. In 7 years it’s never once failed at all & still runs like the day I bought it
@@video3ish that is a cool bike and has to be the most reliable chopper ever made! I sat on one at dealership and almost bought it, it was so comfortable. Thanks for your feedback!
I had a 2012 Street Glide for 5 years,it was a fun bike .The new Harley Millwakee 8 ' s are very smooth. I just Purchased 2014 Honda CTX1300 with only 11 k on it. For 7 k and I love the smooth performance. Today I put 250 miles on it . I asked the Honda dealer today how much does the major 16 k service cost. He told me that factory service requires 10 hours labor at 125 per hour, The values need an adjustment and everything tighten up, new spark plugs, all new fluids. Crazy
SCS I’m glad to hear you bought a CTX 1300. I love the sound, looks and comfort of that bike. The idea of spending $1,250 on a 16K service sounds totally nuts to me. I doubt it would need more than an oil change at the mileage. At the very least, you need a new motorcycle shop!
Thankyou, you have guts to say that about the street glide. But what happened with the ctx only 2014 in the US. and now they are out there for $6400. Very helpful comparison really opened my eyes.
Thanks for the feedback my friend! I think the CTX 1300 was considered over-priced, the styling was ahead of its time, Harley was flying high. I think it was a lot of things. I've moved on from the CTX due to my "new motorcycle compulsion" but I miss that sweet V4 and the wind protection of the CTX.
I like the concept. But after finding out that the heat issue is just as serious as it on the ST 1300 I gave up on buying one of these beautiful well equipped machines with that well designed engine.. I can put up with a bad seat, I can put up with complicated to open saddlebags, I can put up with top-heavy machines, I can put up with poor gas mileage, I can put up with sub par brakes. I can put up with small fuel capacity. I can put up with no center stand.I can put up with Valve shims,, I can put up with a limited selection of replacement tires.. I can put up with lack of dealers within 100 miles. The thing I will not put up with is engine heat. I ride motorcycles in the summer fall and spring here in the Northeast.I have over 700,000 miles behind bars on my dozens and dozens of street bikes over the decades. Most of my miles have been on my commutes to and from work. One of the commuter machines I had I consider to be the best motorcycle for commuting in the entire history of the universe. The Honda Pacific coast. I commuted on two of those for decades. My first one got totaled with me sitting on it while waiting my turn at a stop sign. I replaced it with another Honda Pacific coast which I commuted on that one for 24 years. In all weather. I was one of those guys you would see riding to work in the rain when it’s 40° out. That was nowhere near as uncomfortable as commuting on a 90° plus day.. you can always get warm, but when it’s hot out, you can never get cool.. for my commute home I would saturate my Levi jacket with four pockets, and I would fill the pockets with ice cubes from the ice machine at work. I would soak a bandanna for inside my helmet and around my neck. By the time I got home 45 minutes later, I was completely dry, riding on all back roads with only four traffic lights and six stop signs.. I only parked my machines when they started salting the roads here in western Pennsylvania in late November through April sometimes.. The Honda Pacific Coast is water cooled and has a full fairing. Honda somehow designed that machine so you felt no heat whatsoever coming off of that radiator. I also had a Honda GL 1800 Goldwing, that Honda managed the heat coming off of that machine so that it was no problem. I went and test rode our Honda ST 1300. It seemed like the perfect package. It was used with 23,000 miles on it with many useful extras in it had never been dropped. I told the owner that I would not be back for at least an hour and I hit it off through the countryside through The unpopulated western Pennsylvania roads through farmlands .. 10 minutes out, my shins were actually burning from the heat pouring off of the radiators on that 85° day. I turned around and pulled in the guy’s driveway , The owner came up to me and said that was a quick hour. My first words to him were “how can you ride this thing with that oven heat coming on you? “. I could tell by his face he knew it was the dealbreaker. He said in a sub dude voice, that’s why it’s for sale, and that’s why it has very low mileage. You just can’t ride this thing if it’s above 80°. I have no idea how ST 1300 riders can stand riding those machines in climates were the temperature goes above 80°. I had all my gear on as usual, mesh jacket, Kevlar jeans, motorcycle street bike boots, deerskin gloves, full face helmet. I needed a shower after just that 10 minute ride out in the 10 minute ride back…. I took a pocket full of cash to buy that bike right now. Am I glad I got to test drive it first. I can’t imagine how people feel after buying one of these machines off the showroom floor without test driving it first. The machine in this video has the same engine same radiator same heat issue. That is a shame that Honda can’t somehow deal with the heat the way they did on the gold wings and the Pacific coast.. The excess heat issue also kept me from buying a Kawasaki concourse, and FJR..
Interesting stuff. I’m someone who hates the cold but heat doesn’t bother me nearly as much. I sold the CTX a couple years ago largely due to the suspension and just a desire to try something else. Right now I have a nice stable I’m very happy with: a BMW R18 Classic (heat is no problem as long as you’re not stationary), a Royal Enfield Int650 (again, no trouble from heat), and hottest of the three, a Kawasaki Vaquero. Funny that only the Vaquero is water-cooled, and I have the Ivan’s tune on it, which reduced the heat significantly, but it is by far the hottest running of the three.
@@QuentinsMotoVlog I liked the Vaquero I was looking for one used but there were never any for sale when I was in the market for one. Ended up buying my third Yamaha venture, a 2008 royal star venture. That is warm behind that fairing and those lowers that cannot be removed. So I ride my Kawasaki Z 400 on those warm days. it’s funny when I was looking for a large sport touring machine. The FJR and the concourse were already known as rolling oven’s. I ended up buying a moto guzzi norge - my 4th guzzi since 1979..Even with the cylinders less than 2 inches away, the heat was not an issue unless I was stopped in traffic. I read that online also that they are cooler with the lower fairing on then with the lower fairing removed. They do have a lot of history with wind tunnel testing, they have had a wind tunnel for decades at Guzzi..Actually, none of my Moto Guzzi’s had a problem with heat.. someone else on the Internet here on TH-cam complained about the front end on that Honda that you had… it has been decades since I was on a machine that weighed less than 400 pounds. I started out on the two-stroke RDs, Kawasaki 350 and 400 triples, RZ 350, Bridgestone 350, and when I went to this Kawasaki Z 400, I have done 22 changes to make it comfortable, I actually have a couple videos here on TH-cam pointing out the changes I’ve made like Corbin seat, rack in place of passenger seat, trunk, bar risers, GSXR 600 shock, adjustable fork preload caps, real horns, rubber topped foot pegs, comfort things like that. I actually have that Z 400 to the point, I think I could ride that across country. It has more than enough power/45 - 49 HP depending on where you read it. 64 miles to the gallon, zero engine heat. I find myself riding that 75% of the time instead of my Yamaha royal star venture which I’ve also made videos about the maintenance and set up on that one… I am absolutely stunned that the combined views on my videos is in excess of 160,000 views so far.. My videos have no graphics, no music, no big lead in introductions, and I will never appear in a video to ham it up.. If only I could learn how to edit videos. I have to do them all in one take start to finish until I learn that..It’s a lot of fun
So looking to get back on 2 wheels I miss it I used to ride a Honda Shadow and loved riding. I found a Honda CTX1300 for sale and got a chance to test ride it… oh my god love the ride feel and sound of it. It only has 4700 miles and they are asking 8k what do you think?
I think that is a fair price assuming the bike is in very good condition and well maintained. Especially if it is the Deluxe model. I would buy it if it is in well-cared-for condition. Good luck!
Awesome awesome comparison! New subbie here. I've never owned a Harley. They look nice but that's about it. I own Honda. My first motorcycle was the Honda Shadow 750 and now own the NC 750Xcc DCT with Abs and love it. We had the CTX 750 and 1300cc up here but only in the standard versions. I wanted the DCT version in that model but Honda Canada never brought it here which boggled my mind because we have the Goldwing, the NC, and the African Twin in the DCT. Great review!
Cool. The only problem I had with the CTX1300 was the mediocre suspension. Time has moved on since this video, but my love of Honda has not! Currently I have a 2015 Honda Valkyrie and a 2019 CB300R and I love them both. They are very different but both are great! Thanks!
It is definitely better than any Harley. I own a Harley 48 and just got a 2014 Honda ctx 700 I freaking love this Honda ctx 700. I wanted the Honda ctx 1300 but heavy for me I’m 5”4 so I went for the Honda ctx 700. Absolutely Hondas are way way way more quality than Harley
Yes. Sadly I traded my CTX in some time ago to try other bikes. I grew tired of the wooden front suspension and I didn’t want to sink additional significant money into fixing it. Otherwise, the engine and comfort were both superb. There are CTX user groups that could help with sourcing parts. But I moved on. Currently I have a Royal Enfield Int650 Mark II with the chrome tank. I love it. I also have the unique and gorgeous BMW R18 Classic and I have a Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 as my scrambler/beater bike, which is an absolute hoot to ride. I’m lucky.
Yes, the suspension is a short coming. But that motor is so sweet, the saddle so comfortable and the weather protection so good. A lot of people redo the front suspension to keep all those qualities in their garage. Thanks.
Here is the description for the mirrors I bought on Amazon. $22 and I love them so much I moved them to my newly acquired Honda Valkyrie. "MICTUNING Universal Hawk-Eye Motorcycle Convex Rear View Mirror - with 10mm Bolt, Handle Bar Mount Clamp for Cruiser, Suzuki, Honda, Victory and More"
I would say, the only thing better than the CTX1300 is the CTX700. Has all the features but weighs about a buck fifty less and is quite a bit cheaper. So comfortable and capable. The only thing the 1300 has over my 700 is the shaft drive. It’s a shame these bikes didn’t make it. Been riding for 50 years and over a dozen different bikes. This one checks all the boxes.
I love the bike it's what I've been looking for if the financial gods AKA my wife approved of it I'd have one today it's too bad Honda abandoned it they overpriced it and it didn't sell if we would have the price closer to 10,000 other would have done better thanks for great videos keep it up and I'll keep dreaming
I own this bike in the faster color (black), deluxe model. Love it. But it has some issues. The little compartments at the top of the "tank" barely hold anything, and are clunky to open and close. The USB port is inside the right compartment, and there is no opening in the compartment cover to allow a cable out, so you have to "improvise" that. The locks and latches on the saddlebags are terribly clunky as every other reviewer has stated and to which I can attest. The bags themselves don't hold a helmet, and because they flop downward, the minute you open the bag, everything wants to flop out. I'd much prefer a top loader. Some have cited an issue with engine heat being a problem, though I haven't really experienced it. The tabs that hold the fairing in place are prone to breakage. The luggage rack (which is optional, not standard) is cool looking but hard to get a bungee cord hook on due to the thickness of the bars. The menus could be easier to access and operate, for example, setting the clock. The side mirrors are cool looking but virtually useless, so accessory mirrors are recommended (some say just adjust the handlebars, but they're still not in optimal position). Now, that said, I love the bike. Coolest looking bike I ever owned. I've never been a Harley guy, and I don't see much point in comparing it to any Harley, as I think a person knows which side of the fence he's going to be on. I agree the Honda is a better value and much more practical. Like you said, it's a torque monster, accelerates quickly, is feature packed and comfortable, looks awesome, and... it's a HONDA. 'Nuff said! P.S. Nice saddlebag inserts, but I don't see them on Ebay. Help!
crupert23225 I agree with pretty much everything you said. The saddlebag latches never bothered me. I would put my wallet in the left fairing compartment and a pair of sunglasses in the right. I filed out a little notch for power from the USB to my phone. I still have the saddlebag inserts and they work well. Maybe I’ll throw them up on eBay for cheap and send you the link. I’ll also send the name of them-I can’t recall at the moment. They came from Russia.
@@QuentinsMotoVlog If the price is right and they're in good shape, I'm keenly interested! And you're a kindred soul. I'm not only a Honda guy but also a Ruger guy!
crupert23225 hi. They are called Kinetic Fun bags and as I said they ship from Russia. I just checked on eBay and they sell for $78 plus shipping and it did take over a month for me to get them. They are in excellent condition. How about $40?
Love Harleys. But just could not find one that was reasonable enough and in as good condition. Called on some that I would have bought. Never got a call back on them. They must have sold. Bought the 1300 deluxe ctx. I Iike it. I Won't say it is better than Harley. It is more modern. It is a very nice ride
I'm thinking hard on getting this bike. 2015 BMW 1200RT is competing with my decision. Lack of power plugs for phone and Garmin GPS is a concern for me on the CTX. Another videos states the USB provided doesn't charge a phone well. But I see you are plugged into it. Are you getting an ample charge?
Denim Dude I am getting a good charge on my iPhone. And I found a pigtail power cable on the left hand front of the bike that has enough juice to power my heated vest. Not as much power as my Harley Street Glide but it does work. I don’t think you can go wrong with the BMW however. Price and comfort might decide it for me. Good luck!
@@QuentinsMotoVlog Thanks! How do you manager your battery charge? There is no battery tender cable. What do you do if you don't ride for a while, especially in winter?
I’ve test rode both bikes. I say BMW R1200RT if you want more sport riding and Honda CTX1300 if you want more cruising. Both are great machines, decision is like a blond or brunette?

Nice review. I Test rode a lightly used to CTX 1300 deluxe, fantastic machine, I didn’t know what it was and I didn’t buy it. It Sold the next day. Riding a Honda Africa Twin now, but see a CTX1300 or Goldwing F6B in the garage Someday.
Old Timer Africa Twin is certainly on my radar. I’m looking for an Adventure bike but I’m not going to pull the trigger unless the deal is great. The CTX is a great bike. It just won’t go off the pavement.
Nice bikes with a few gripes The CTX factory equipment mirrors are nothing but air deflectors for the cold air on your hands (very poor visibility)! I see you corrected the problem with those Ebay mirrors! The other thing I wish Honda would do is put a proper fuel gauge on these bikes. I am not very fond of the oddball size of the rear tire either (few choices and expensive). Overall though a nice overall package.Cheers!
Thanks for your comments. I've since moved on to a Honda Valkyrie. More power, much better suspension, but nothing was as comfortable as the CTX (until you hit a pothole) and nothing sounds as good.
I was looking at both bikes actually specifically an Electra glide and the CTX. This video I have to say though it was very blunt it might have changed my mind about the Harley 😅
I made this video several years ago. I loved the comfort, cost and especially the motor on the CTX. I also liked the tech. I did not like the suspension on the CTX, especially the front. Currently I own a BMW R18 Classic, a Royal Enfield Int650, and a Harley Pan America. All three are great bikes. The Pan America is awesome. Harley has come some ways since then but unfortunately their prices have escalated as well. Not sure which I would recommend today. But for the money, if that’s a concern, yes I would still go with the Honda.
Anyone watching in 2024, the bottomline is the CTX1300 was only sold 1 year. It looks great, but how do you maintain it 10 years later? You can order replacement parts, tanks, luggage, suspension upgrades, custom parts, filters, seats or performance upgrades for ANY Harley, any year, anytime, in seconds from your cellphone. And you'll have dozens of choices too. Drop a CTX1300, break a button, fry a component, scratch or crack anything, or try to find aftermarket performance parts for a CTX1300 today. There is little to nothing.
Yeah I find it pretty crazy that guys (and girls) are willing to pay 20, 30 even 40K for a Harley Davidson. I ride this bikes' predecessor - the ST1300 and absolutely love it. The closest I've been to the Harley experience was a Buell X-1 Lightning... I have to admit that bike was also great. I was honestly expecting an onslaught on "f*ck you" comments, but things are pretty docile below.
Thanks! I’m pleasantly amazed by how positive the comments to my videos are. I sold the CTX some time ago to feed my “new motorcycle” addiction but I still really miss that V4 engine.
Thanks! I apologize but I can't remember what they were called. They came from Russia. I just searched eBay and Amazon and I can't find my order for them on either. I think they came from eBay. There is a Honda CTX1300 forum online where they discuss saddlebag liners and that's where I found out about mine. Sorry I can't be more help!
I am a Hondaholic also. Now, I see you have two sets of mirrors so you can see behind you. My ST1100 had the best mirrors of any of the 70+ bikes Ive owned. Must be yours lacks the best mirrors. What sounds better and looks better is subjective. When you sell it and buy another bike, I bet that bike too will be the best bike in the world whatever it is.
My next bike was the best bike in the world! Ha! And so were the five or six after that! Now I’m waiting for the new Honda Hornet 750 to reach the USA. Thanks!
You forgot that your bike has 4 mirrors lol. These are great bikes. Just picked one up in black with 8k miles on it. I also put short mirrors on mine. because with the risers on it I cannot use the OEM mirrors at all.
Hands down, Harley can't compete with the reliability of a Honda. That bike looks great, but I don't like the built in mirrors. I don't like the way they look and given that you have another set attached above them, I suspect they're not all that functional either.
I could see NOTHING in the stock mirrors, except my arms. The CTX was such a collection of pros and cons--I've since bought and sold many bikes so I no longer have the Honda. The motor was just gorgeous! Loved it. The bike was so comfortable to sit on. The weather protection was outstanding. I loved the look of the bike. But the front suspension was atrocious. And I just get tired of bikes anyway, and I move on. Currently I have a 2021 BMW R18 Classic, a 2022 Harley Pan America and a 2022 Royal Enfield INT650. Three awesome motorcycles I may not be able to part with!
No, I sold it some time ago. I loved that V4 engine and bike’s styling and comfort but eventually I got tired of the suspension, plus I love getting a NEW bike, whatever it is. I basically sold the CTX for what I paid for it so it worked out well financially.
@@patrickroach7289 I’ve always wanted an ST1300 but they were hard to find/expensive, and now if you can find one, they’re getting kind of old. But by all accounts, a home run for Honda.
Interesting review, I was going to check one out, but I discovered Honda doesn't make the CTX 1300 anymore. I wonder why they stopped making them, if they were so great? They still make the Harley Street Glide, along with tons of other Harleys.
Thanks for the feedback. I think your question really gets to the heart of my disappointment in Harley. Honda tries things. Harley is still making the same bike it made in the 1940s. Admittedly, Harley has refined the formula to an amazing degree. But it’s the same bike. Where is Harley’s V4? Where is their flat six? Or their inline six? Or anything except the same dumbass V twin they’ve made since motorcycles were invented? The laziness, the assumption that they didn’t have to invent. It drives me nuts.
@@QuentinsMotoVlog the CTX 1300 sounded like a real nice bike, too bad they quit making them, Honda actually only makes two bikes now, according to their web page, the Goldwing (which they've greatly improved) and a CTX 700, I think. I think if Honda would have paid more attention to the goldwing years ago, and improved it like they did in 2018, then there would be a lot more Goldwings sold. Harley still sells a lot of motorcycles.
From what I read there was a fire at the factory where the CTX1300s were made and they couldn't resume production. But the other problem was that these were overpriced when released- for $2-$3k more you could buy a F6B. I own a CTX1300 Deluxe and I absolutely love it, it's the best bike I've ever owned!
George Kreamer interesting. I never heard the fire story before. One Honda dealer confided in me that Honda rolls out bikes at premium prices as a practice, to see if they’ll stick.
I ride a $3000 '95 Sportster 1200. But I sure agree with you on everything but price. The Honda looks better, is water cooled and more powerful. And it's a HONDA. So why did they quit making them? If you go on the Honda site they still list the 2014 CTX1300 with the other 2019 models.!
St White I don’t know why they stopped selling them here in the USA. Except the one simple reason: they didn’t sell. Ahead of its time is my guess. Look at the Hondas, BMWs and even the new Indian Challenger. They all look more and more like my CTX 1300 if you ask me. I’ll pass on paying $30K for that new Indian however!
They stopped selling them because they didn't sell. That's a fact. The ST1300 loyalists hated them, and though they were below the F6b, many people paid extra for bigger bike. Basically the CTX1300 was a fail, just like the new Goldwing Valkyrie. Loved by the owners, but that's about it, just like the Magna's were (I owned one). So enjoy your bike, it's great, reliable, and even special (to you and other CTX riders), but let's stop knocking Harley's, at least they hold their value. Lol.
The CTX1300 is certainly unique. I loved the motor and sound, the seating position is extremely comfortable. Wind protection is excellent. The suspension was a bit harsh and vibration transmits through the handlebars on high speed jolts. But a really cool bike.
5:04 "it's the best motorcycle ever made", whilst my focus goes towards the double mirrors, thinking, hey, do you have a caravan or a trailer behind that CTX?
So, the stock mirrors are not the "best ever made." True enough. Also true that I get very enthusiastic about any new bike. Over time I grew tired of the rough suspension on the CTX1300 and I wanted more power. But still, a wonderful motorcycle.
I want trying to be disrespectful sorry if it came out that way . I do own a Harley and as much as I like that bike you have I do have some animosity towards it though simply because I also own a ST1300
I wasn't done and I've been close to coast on that bike and I was hoping they would continue it and update it but they didn't they canceled it and came out with yours both are well capable bikes
@@peterraymon4551 hey, no worries. I took your comment as valid and worth a considered answer. And guess what I’m picking up today…. A 2022 Harley Davidson Pan America Special and I am super excited about it! Thanks for your comments!
This bike, when new, cost about the same as the low end street glide. This bike listed at $17,999 when new. In 2018 (when this video was made) I saw them for as low as $4000 with 10K miles on them. That's a drop of 78% in 4 years. (2014 to 2018) A street glide that sold for $17999 in 2014 would be worth about at least $12000 in 2018. That's a drop of 34% (less than 1/2 what the CTX1300 dropped). Are they both good bike, YES. Are they different, Yes. But to say one is better than the other is in the eye of the beholder. Remember, when you say the CTX cost much less than the Street Glide (both new), you are dead wrong. But you are right in todays market. The CTX costs less. Much less than 1/2 of what a comparable Street Glide would cost today. That is not to say one is better than another, it just saying the market has fallen out from under the CTX, period. I knew a guy who bought one for $17999 as soon as they came out. He sold it two years later for $5500. He sold it because there were no after market parts for the CTX (and there aren't any today) He bought a (believe it or not) as Street Glide because he could get all the after market parts he wanted. He loved the CTX. He just wanted to add stuff to it and he couldn't do it with the CTX. Lesson learned

I know that's subjective, but 8 of 10 would have disagreed with you. The CTX sort of looks like an alien, in my opinion, so no.. It's not for me. And stop bashing Harley. If you like your bike better, then great, ride it until the wheels fall off. But bashing another bike is also bashing the individuals who own them. My 2014 victory Vision cost 6000, it weighs 900 pounds but I am giant, yours is smoother, yours is cooler in summer (positive) and winter (negative), I got more power and torque than your bike, our bikes look as good, I just saw throttle lock, you don't have cruise? deal breaker, mine doesn't have LED, why do you have 4 mirrors? mine has a loud belt that hasn't need replacing in 63000 miles.
1motomanic maybe not. I ride it in shorts and a tee shirt only because it’s so hot here. But I wear a helmet and I’m happily married! Chicks do seem to dig Harley’s!
@@QuentinsMotoVlog and 1motomanic Your riding attire may be cool but you'll be a cool fool once you've seen road rash on your body. I once road with a guy who rode in swimming trunks and flip flops. He's dead now.
St White you’re right of course. I always wear helmet, boots and gloves. From what I understand there isn’t a whole lot of difference between jeans and shorts if you’re sliding down the road. If you have a pair of comfortable motorcycle pants to recommend I’d appreciate it. I haven’t found an affordable comfortable pair yet.
The motor is so sweet, the wind protection and rider comfort are both awesome. The only thing that lets it down is the suspension. If the roads are smooth where you live I highly recommend it. I'm riding a 2015 Valkyrie these days, which doesn't have the weather protection and the ergonomics aren't as good, but the suspension is much much better.
Ok, I never was Harley fan boy, and still not mostly due to lack of innovation, but does you CTX 1300 have Electronic cruise control? how about a full stereo? Both sets of mirrors you have are bad ldeas.. one is difficult to use for placement (looks good though) and the other add on's look horrible. those mulitple dealers to service your bike,, and with that back tire you brag about .. you will likely have trouble on the road replacing it if you are traveling no matter which dealer you go too,, How's your resale of your Street Glide killer?.. Just saying.. but they really arent in the same class so why the comparison? Now I will say I am keeping an eye out for one anyway..
ut1004bp good comments, thanks. Resale on this bike is about the same $8-9K I paid for it. I do love cruise control. The mirror situation is wonky to be sure. Only because the built-in mirrors are useless. I did eventually sell the CTX. Now I have a 2015 Honda Valkyrie, which will blow the doors off of just about anything, and a little Honda CB300R, which is without question the most fun motorcycle I’ve ever owned-and I’ve owned dozens.
I already made the mistake of buying 2014 cb1100. Funny Honda only made these one year. Why don't you buy a house so you don't have to use public storage.
You forgot to mention .;Even thou the harley could get you laid better than this .the demographie riding the harley cant get it up anyway so the last possible use for that Harley streetglide is also obsolete.
Rachid Khamlichi every time I started my Street Glide it sounded like a bomb went off. Seriously, I will take the sound of the CTX over any Harley any day.

How long did Honda make the CTX1300. Hmmmm? One year! None of them sold. There are (to this day) Hundreds of then unsold in cates today at Honda dealers that pray every day someone will come in and buy one for (not $17999) but maybe $7000. Now, how many years has Harley davidson been making Street Glides? Hmmmm, maybe 14 years, "And the Street goes on".
What's with the Harley mirrors on top of the Honda mirrors? Honda mirrors don't work" What about the hard knuckle gloves and tattoos? Looks to me like you couldn't handle your Street Glide. Your just another Harley Davidson (want to be) rider who never made the grade. The Honda CTX 1300 is made for the barcalounger crowd. So sit down relax and watch the BIG BOYS on their Street Glides go by. You deserve a rest.
I currently own a 2018 Africa twin, drz 400s , 2010 street glide . So I love all bikes . With that being said why is the whole shtick about this ctx vs a street glide ? The first thing you mentioned was cost ! Tells me you have something against Harley and money is more your concern . And you sound like a dude that bounced a ball off the wall of your dad’s garage and played many days alone therefore grew up and have a dislike for comrades in the Harley community. Be safe dude and lighten up.
This was funny... but funny because I traded my ctx 1300 in for a Harley Street glide and 1.5 years later I have my CTX 1300 back. I love the bike! Good video!
Laurie Cox that’s cool. I’m enjoying my latest bike, a Honda CB500X, but like you, I might very well get another CTX1300 someday down the road.
@@QuentinsMotoVlog So why did you trade the ctx1300 off for the cb500x
Laurie Cox couple of reasons. Number one was I wanted, and still want, a motorcycle that will go down a dirt road. And maybe a trail if it’s not too technical. The suspension on the CTX1300 is not going to let that happen. And of course that’s not what the CTX is for. I miss the V4 on the CTX but I’m really happy with my CB500X for now.
Just curious why did you make the decision to switch back? What was dealership's reaction

Hey Quenton....where did you get those beauty mirrors? I love the red accents.
Go look at the ST 1300 before you look at that same engine much more of a bike
Good luck!
Just got one. Picking it up Friday.
Nice! Most comfortable cockpit ever. And I loved that sweet V4! I've moved on to several bikes since but I loved my CTX1300.

@@QuentinsMotoVlog
I liked the Vaquero I was looking for one used but there were never any for sale when I was in the market for one.
They do have a lot of history with wind tunnel testing, they have had a wind tunnel for decades at Guzzi..Actually, none of my Moto Guzzi’s had a problem with heat..
someone else on the Internet here on TH-cam complained about the front end on that Honda that you had…
it has been decades since I was on a machine that weighed less than 400 pounds.

I think that is a fair price assuming the bike is in very good condition and well maintained. Especially if it is the Deluxe model. I would buy it if it is in well-cared-for condition. Good luck!
@@QuentinsMotoVlog thank you it looks great very close to pristine and it is deluxe model

I’m lucky.
picked up a ctx1300 with 6500 miles for 7200.. Love it after 1 month but the front suspension needs stiffening
Yes, the suspension is a short coming. But that motor is so sweet, the saddle so comfortable and the weather protection so good. A lot of people redo the front suspension to keep all those qualities in their garage. Thanks.
Very funny. "Infotainment?!? This is a motorcycle!" Awesome. And a lovely bike, too.

Here is the description for the mirrors I bought on Amazon. $22 and I love them so much I moved them to my newly acquired Honda Valkyrie. "MICTUNING Universal Hawk-Eye Motorcycle Convex Rear View Mirror - with 10mm Bolt, Handle Bar Mount Clamp for Cruiser, Suzuki, Honda, Victory and More"
Not better than my Honda F6B. sold it and can kick myself in the ass ever since!
Never owned that one but I've had to sell or trade-in so many great bikes to satisfy my new-bike addiction! Including the CTX1300.
2023 I'm looking for my first 2014 ctx 1300 .
Does the 700 have that annoying handlebar vibration? That’s what ultimately led me to sell the 1300.

jp s thanks man and good luck! I hope you get the bike you want soon!
They came from Russia.

crupert23225 hi. They are called Kinetic Fun bags and as I said they ship from Russia. I just checked on eBay and they sell for $78 plus shipping and it did take over a month for me to get them. They are in excellent condition. How about $40?

Good luck!

Pablo just saw this, sorry for delayed response. I’m married so...
Great looking bike. I really like the look but I think they would look so much better if that front fairing came all the way down on both sides.
I agreed with just about all of the points you made in this video, however, a red motorcycle and a white-faced iPhone is for women.

Bleeding brakes with ABS? Tough or nah?
Never tried it.
Actually the first belt was introduced to Harley in 1985. Before that they were chain drive
Good to know. Thanks!
Hello
Nice video, would you please send me the name of saddlebags inserts, the ones that you bought on Ebay . Thank you 🙏
When you sell it and buy another bike, I bet that bike too will
be the best bike in the world whatever it is.
My next bike was the best bike in the world! Ha! And so were the five or six after that! Now I’m waiting for the new Honda Hornet 750 to reach the USA. Thanks!
OK at first I was like...this guy is a loser but then you had me in stitches......Two thumbs up brother!
Thanks bud! Glad to have you along.
You forgot that your bike has 4 mirrors lol. These are great bikes. Just picked one up in black with 8k miles on it. I also put short mirrors on mine. because with the risers on it I cannot use the OEM mirrors at all.
Yes, the mirrors on the CTX are what I would call a swing and miss! Thanks!
Do you still have your CTX?
No, I sold it some time ago. I loved that V4 engine and bike’s styling and comfort but eventually I got tired of the suspension, plus I love getting a NEW bike, whatever it is. I basically sold the CTX for what I paid for it so it worked out well financially.
😂😂😂 I’m looking into one of these CTX1300’s now!!
Cool! The engine is wonderful. The comfort is probably the best I’ve ever owned. Suspension can be a bit harsh but that’s fixable. Good luck!
It sure reminds me of my ST1300.
@@gkreamer1 yes the 1300 sounds perfect. but never seen one !
Harley rider my entire life....at age 56, I sold all of them and just bought a CTX 1300 Deluxe 🤣😂
Ha!
Sorry heard shaft drive to seconds later in video
No worries!
Lol.
Ha Ha Great video But does it have cruise control, Riders Back rest and well Why do you need 4 mirrors?…….
It had cruise, didn’t need a backrest but yeah, it needed those four mirrors! 😎 Thanks!
Honda ctx 1300 !!!! YEEEEEEEEAAAAAH !!!!!
It's a great bike except for the bone-jarring, handlebar-vibrating suspension!
7:32 OMG what a shaking
Lol, great video. Looking at getting one of those!
Just because you got a decent bike and new technology you don't knock A Harley-Davidson.
I got tired of Harley's high dealer service rates and their efforts to make it hard if not impossible to service the touring bikes yourself.
(2014 to 2018)
A street glide that sold for $17999 in 2014 would be worth about at least $12000 in 2018.
Fair comments. Except all of the CTX 1300’s for sale when I was looking were going for $8K. Is it possible you were seeing the smaller CTX-700?
@@QuentinsMotoVlog I bought my Deluxe from my local Honda dealer last summer for $10K, and they were asking for $10.4K! Prices went back up after the pandemic. They barely have any inventory and they're selling the GROMS and NAVI'S like hot cakes! I've been looking for the Honda Trail 125 since last year and nothing anywhere at the moment!
@@abbashamideh3783 wow. It’s strange that inventory is so low while demand is so high. My local Royal Enfield dealer is selling Meteors and Classics as fast as they can get their hands on them.
I was nodding my head yes at all of your points during the interior video while you were in your car... UNTIL you said yours looked better. They have the same right to their choice of a ride just like you do. Ride and let ride, I say.
They're ok bikes. Yeah its smooth until you hit a bump and it feels like its going to fall apart.
The suspension is the worst thing about it, to be sure.
But with this bike if I'm wearing shorts, tennis-shoes and a bandana still be cool and look like a badass while picking up chicks?
January 1 , 2024 I took street glide for 1 day for rent. After my vtx1300 , Harley is nothing special. So, this ctx1300 is definitely is better
You forgot to mention another great quality, it has Shaft Drive...
That's a baby goldwing. I'm considering trading my 2012 wing for that bike.
@@QuentinsMotoVlog // Progressive shocks would fix that immediately.
Alexander Graham Belt drive ... : )

@@QuentinsMotoVlog I wish there were more options for accessories
My super cub is better than your big CTX :p jk nice video!
Hmmm…
Shaaaaaaade.
I already made the mistake of buying 2014 cb1100. Funny Honda only made these one year. Why don't you buy a house so you don't have to use public storage.
If you'd like to lend me $250,000 I'd be happy to buy a house!
You forgot to mention .;Even thou the harley could get you laid better than this .the demographie riding the harley cant get it up anyway so the last possible use for that Harley streetglide is also obsolete.
Etyere Petyere I found that girls didn’t know what kind of bike it was. ;)
Harley sounds awesome tho
Rachid Khamlichi every time I started my Street Glide it sounded like a bomb went off. Seriously, I will take the sound of the CTX over any Harley any day.
I just came here for the comments 😂😆😂
I really like your bike, but what's with the double side mirrors?
I mean, can this bike pull a caravan too?
bet the Harley can't do that! ;)
Ramon Mensink the CTX 1300 is sweet but the mirrors are terrible! Had to add the accessory mirrors to see anything!
Handlebars block the low ass mirrors. What was Honda thinking, there?
Pablo I know. Dumb.
@@QuentinsMotoVlog What mirrors are these?
Great bike. Not gonna get you laid though. Ladies love harleys.
Sorry I didn't reply earlier. I'm married, so... I should probably leave it at that!
You did more bashing the Harley then you talked about the bike. I mean I don’t like Harley either but come on man
Harley just disappoints the hell out of me. Anything that isn't growing is probably dying and they've been doing the same thing for decades.

Not so much. I was surprised.
Suck it.
