You know, Cimo as a player is honestly fun to watch. Sometimes the man plays like he's trying to fit in a square peg in a round hole and other times he plays like he just downloaded the matrix into his being.
And sometimes he fits the square peg in because you go "oh that never works the opponent has to not have X Y Z, and the top 2 cards of your deck has to be very specific. We lose here." And then everything just happens in his favor. This guy can beat danger tear with ojamas through the power of the millenium puzzle.
This was funny af and depressing at the same time. I actually thought it was dumb to put Disk Commander with only one relevant way to use it's PoG effect, but here's Alex Cimoto flexing his anime protagonist bullshit powers away.
I could see them unban the cards that they now mutually have, including call of the hunted. If disk survives this season without banning, that's one more way to bring him back from the grave

Cimo really doesn't get enough credit for how good he is at dueling. If anything, the dude has dominated basically every series he's made on his channel except Jank. And MBT would know how good Cimo is because while MBT clobbers basically everyone in all the other series he's a part of(not counting playoffs since it's way too many people playing to judge fairly), like how badly he has overwhelmed Dzeef in wins, he always has a struggle with Cimo and he's even behind him in the History series by like 5 games. Even when MBT has the favorable matchup like recent episode spoiler alert (Shadoll vs Qli)
Now I want a yugituber tier list in regards to dueling skills. It'd hard to judge because the skills required for each time period (and each sealed format) are not exactly the same, but with how many crossover series we have these days there must be some info that can be gathered
I do generally think alot of commenters underestimate Alex as a player, it’s not like mbt, farfa or the rest don’t get super lucky or Yugi level draws. I’m not that good of a player but honestly so are a lot of commenters

I think it’s safe to say Alex has the series wrapped up at this point unless something truly insane happens in the Judgement. Gage squandered his lead very early in GX, then shot himself in both feet, first by banning Cydra, which with how many times it got reprinted would have been a very powerful equalizer. Now its banned forever barring a judgement because neither of them will willingly unban a card the other has 3 of. Then he wasted all his redoer tickets and locked himself into a neutered Chaos Deck until Blackwings show up, and if he gets unlucky there, which he will because he will squander his tickets if he gets more, there will be no hope of regaining the lead. He simply can’t ban enough power cards to not get run over by Cimo every single week from now until some time into Zexal.
Well, Gage will at least be able to get some redoers for Blackwing; at the start of the new season both will get 3 Redoer Tickets. But that still hands an advantage to Alex because that just means Alex is likely to have a huge pile of these (since the sets Alex expected to need the Redoers for went well enough that he didn't need them) so he can just reroll whatever the fuck he wants. Otherwise I entirely agree with you. I remember facepalming really hard when Gage banned Cydra - that was absolutely a strategic sin and Alex probably baited it out on purpose by picking the second Cydra from his wheel.
And thing is by the time he bans all one off power cards Cimo has, Cimo would just have a better deck in general and better card pool from the wheel and having more redoers to use on 5Ds (which he struggled on in S1 cuz Gage was the one pulling the synchros till Blackwings) Also imo they should add a rule where you cant ban a card that was added or unbanned less than 3 weeks cuz its honestly pretty frustrating seeing a new card getting axed after 1 or 2 eps

Honestly though, I don't think there's anything Gage can do at this point because the Winner's wheel is actually just insane. In the last 5 weeks Cimo has gotten HFD from it, unbanned HFD from it, copied Gage's Snatch Steal from it AND gotten Disk Commander from it. Compared to that, the 3 pity tournament packs and 1 ban every 3 losses has just been horrible for Gage. I get that he wasted his tickets, but watching him get blasted week after week with nothing to really pivot to is rough man...
I mean Gage does himself no favors either. Tunnels way too much and honestly I don’t expect anything to change till the episodes catch up to the present and he can get other Yugitubers to hold his hand while making decks just like in season 1.

The draw power in Cimo’s deck was insane, which is why I think either Graceful or Disc Commander are on the chopping block next week. Gage could go after DAD, but Gage has plenty that outs it. Book of Moon, Soul Exchange and Brain Control are a few that come to mind. Not to mention the Torrential Tribute he picked up in his Gold Series pulls.
Graceful is the hit, DAD isn't nearly as good as GC. DAD will eventually get powercrept and is a potential brick, GC is not only immune to powercreep but gets better the more broken shit is available.

I play goat with recruiter narch and a small chaos package, and what makes that tick are the shining angles into warrior lady and tomato into sangan or reaper or because we’re in trad witch. He just doesn’t have the staples
Wow GX's stale nature due to bad cards was really helped by them banning the one iconic power card from the Era to make it even more just homogenized DM all over again.

I’m gonna be honest, I want both cimo and gage to play decks that every single card in their deck is different from the ones they’ve been using so far, force both players to change up their game. Heck make it a rule that they can’t use the same deck/win condition two weeks in a row. Cimo does pretty decently with this already but gage just won’t get off the chaos/monarch strat
I was saying since last season that the second season needed the rule that they can't use the same deck unless it has explicitly gotten support. In the early game that's a little harder to do since archetypes and whatnot were not really a thing but we're definitely past the point where they could be doing that. It doesn't even make sense to call a series progression unless you're going to do that because otherwise you're not really seeing progression on a large scale. You're just seeing them play what was good at the time for god knows how many months on end past even where they did in real life because those decks had ban hits to them. Not having this rule encourages just using good stuff the deck forever. I don't even see the point of including side sets especially not in the future when they focus on including brand new archetypes if you're just going to throw them in the trash for good stuff now deck. There's no excitement in seeing them opening and playing with, say, Genesis Impact when you know they're just going to use Drytron if they can even though there are two functional interesting archetypes alongside them. Granted Cimo has been a lot better at this but you know that's what Gage is going to do. With side sets included just so many archetypes are simply never going to see any play. Honestly, people mock Gage for it but I think rerolling in an attempt to get the Glad Beast stuff was the right thing for him to do even if it didn't pan out. It's pretty clear by now that Gage is a netdecker who needs to learn how to build his own stuff. Yes, looking at what other people use is useful information and you can totally learn how to play them if you know the combos intended, but if you don't really know why it's there (or, more to the point, why it's there and not something else which gives you useful information for looking at other cards when you don't have access to that one or enough of that one) it's not going to help you. Essentially, I think it's safe to say that Gage is not fit for this kind of series. While originally I disagreed when people suggested changing hosts of Progression, I have to admit I was wrong and it really seems like MBT and Gage should switch series. History is seemingly much more Gage's style because it's just copy pasting good decks and MBT has both a knowledge of historic formats and is better at deck building.

I really enjoy watching Gage build a deck and watching MBT become a doom soyjack, then argue with his explanation vs when Cimo makes a deckbuilding choice that MBT disagrees with, like 80% of the time after Cimo's explanation, even if he doesn't agree with it, MBT is like "oh that makes sense. That's a good point." These two are such a skill mismatch
While I will admit Alex is a good duelist, I would argue it's use here. He has a combination of better cards as well as some absolutely absurd luck. Gage, for all the positives and negatives, is sadly very easy to read due to his position. He's impulsive, and due to his losing streak combined with his desire to win to at least break it, he makes decisions that have a small chance at success with a massive chance of failure. Gage is Joey Wheeler without the plot armor luck protecting him. Still, I've said it before and I'll say it again, they need a loser's wheel instead of Tournament Packs. That way the loser still has a chance to crawl their way out without needing to ban staples that provide interesting combos like Cyber Dragon and opening dubiously beneficial packs like the Tournament sets. Just keep Tournament Packs as an option on the wheel, shrink some of the slices for better pulls so there's a lower chance to grab things like Starlight Rares, and add back a few trash slices like Wild Card Common.
I think the biggest difference between gage and cimo is how versatile cimos card choices are he will run cards for multiple reasons and have multiple uses for his cards and gage will run more situational high end cards
I have a slight hope: Gage is giving Alex these wins as a sort of wedding gift, and he’s been doing intensive deck building before they film the next match. But that hope is faint
The next series seriously needs a rule to combat repeat decks, no card can reappear more than 2 epsiodes in a row or soemthing along those lines, maybe except some staples.
Honestly I wanted gage to go for some skill drain burn strategy with 1900 monsters, wave motion and the bird that you set face down, but I got to say these have been to really great matches
Now I would like to remind MBT that it’s actually a good thing Gage doesn’t have any redoer tickets. As if he actually pulled good cards he would just pull the old switcheroo and make us all mald at it. Although in all fairness as a newer fan of the series I do enjoy the season if it is very similar to season 1.
Gold Secrets look great except on effect monsters. They need to ditch the """"""premium"""""" gold rares and just go back to them. I would honestly just buy a set that was all gold secret normal monsters because those look amazing. (Seriously, Konami, just give me the JUMP promo Dark Magician art in Gold Secret and I will buy as many of them as I can get my hands on. Just like I've been consistently doing for the MVP1 version, lol.)
I think this game should have been a 2-0 towards gage. He had soul exchange and targets in his hand. Plus a massive hand to boot! There was no way he didn't have a play game two.
As mentioned in the video, game 2 is most likely just Cimo trying to play around Book of Moon. Gage just drew 9 cards from morphing jar, 2 reckless greed. If he fails, he's facing 8 cards (well, 7, i guess after the snipe hunter) with a light and dark monsters ready in GY. I'd say trying to play it safe is pretty reasonable. Is it the best move? That's debatable. In game 3, Gage only has 3. If Cimo fails, he's only facing 2 cards (with one being card trooper) and no light yet. Gage would need that one other card to be a chaos + milling light from Card Trooper. The odds aren't exactly high.
Funfact: the first gold series was actually a really bad set. Only reason people bought it was crush card because the other reprints in there were all cards past their prime and werent relevant anymore, exceptions being heavy storm
I'm part of the viewers being mad at Cimooo's luck. But to be fair, at least, he has good cards he can topdeck. The Best gage can expect is to draw bls on turn 12 when the game is already over and Cimooo has answers to it. Nobody expects a bad Chaos/monarch deck to win against a constructed dad deck with the power 9 spells

Yes, looking at what other people use is useful information and you can totally learn how to play them if you know the combos intended, but if you don't really know why it's there (or, more to the point, why it's there and not something else which gives you useful information for looking at other cards when you don't have access to that one or enough of that one) it's not going to help you.
Essentially, I think it's safe to say that Gage is not fit for this kind of series.
While originally I disagreed when people suggested changing hosts of Progression, I have to admit I was wrong and it really seems like MBT and Gage should switch series. History is seemingly much more Gage's style because it's just copy pasting good decks and MBT has both a knowledge of historic formats and is better at deck building.

I really enjoy watching Gage build a deck and watching MBT become a doom soyjack, then argue with his explanation vs when Cimo makes a deckbuilding choice that MBT disagrees with, like 80% of the time after Cimo's explanation, even if he doesn't agree with it, MBT is like "oh that makes sense. That's a good point."
These two are such a skill mismatch
While I will admit Alex is a good duelist, I would argue it's use here. He has a combination of better cards as well as some absolutely absurd luck. Gage, for all the positives and negatives, is sadly very easy to read due to his position. He's impulsive, and due to his losing streak combined with his desire to win to at least break it, he makes decisions that have a small chance at success with a massive chance of failure. Gage is Joey Wheeler without the plot armor luck protecting him.
Still, I've said it before and I'll say it again, they need a loser's wheel instead of Tournament Packs. That way the loser still has a chance to crawl their way out without needing to ban staples that provide interesting combos like Cyber Dragon and opening dubiously beneficial packs like the Tournament sets. Just keep Tournament Packs as an option on the wheel, shrink some of the slices for better pulls so there's a lower chance to grab things like Starlight Rares, and add back a few trash slices like Wild Card Common.

I think the biggest difference between gage and cimo is how versatile cimos card choices are he will run cards for multiple reasons and have multiple uses for his cards and gage will run more situational high end cards
I have a slight hope: Gage is giving Alex these wins as a sort of wedding gift, and he’s been doing intensive deck building before they film the next match.

The next series seriously needs a rule to combat repeat decks, no card can reappear more than 2 epsiodes in a row or soemthing along those lines, maybe except some staples.
Honestly I wanted gage to go for some skill drain burn strategy with 1900 monsters, wave motion and the bird that you set face down, but I got to say these have been to really great matches

I am so confused about RoD. In game 2 they used the errata but in game 3 it was pre-eratta? What's going on ?
As mentioned in the video, game 2 is most likely just Cimo trying to play around Book of Moon. Gage just drew 9 cards from morphing jar, 2 reckless greed. If he fails, he's facing 8 cards (well, 7, i guess after the snipe hunter) with a light and dark monsters ready in GY. I'd say trying to play it safe is pretty reasonable. Is it the best move? That's debatable.
In game 3, Gage only has 3. If Cimo fails, he's only facing 2 cards (with one being card trooper) and no light yet. Gage would need that one other card to be a chaos + milling light from Card Trooper. The odds aren't exactly high.

Funfact: the first gold series was actually a really bad set. Only reason people bought it was crush card because the other reprints in there were all cards past their prime and werent relevant anymore, exceptions being heavy storm

The Best gage can expect is to draw bls on turn 12 when the game is already over and Cimooo has answers to it. Nobody expects a bad Chaos/monarch deck to win against a constructed dad deck with the power 9 spells
