Saw this classic movie for the first time last year. Now I understand why it's constantly rated in the top 10 of all time. Sheer delight and joy - Ms Monroe, Jack Lemmon and especially Tony Curtis are terrific. As a Brit I'm impressed with the OTT Cary Grant accent.
Rest in peace, Mr. Curtis. Maybe one of the most underrated actors (and comedian when called for) ever. One of my favorite scenes of his from "Some Like It Hot" as his character attempts a deliberately hokey Cary Grant impersonation to woo Marilyn Monroe.
"I heard a very sad story about a girl who went to Bryn Mawr ..she squealed on her roommate and they found her strangled with her own brassiere." "Yes. We have to be careful whom we choose for a roommate..." Classic actors. Classic comedy.
the way Lemmon reacts when he keeps his leg up!!...then, the dialogue between Lemmon and Curtis, and Marilyn trying to be a snob girl....Well, a PERFECT movie, perfect actors, screen play...director..What else can I say?..I have to see this part 5 times cause I couldn,t stop laughing. Carlos
My favourite scene from the movie! Haha 'I'm not interested at all!' 'Well I'm not! [married]' 'That's very interesting!' Hahaha I bet he has a bicycle too ;P
He looks exactly like Jude Law, and she... I have no words. Simply, I love her, really I do. Nobody does better than my Marilyn, she's pure magic. From Mexico with love ; )
i just heard the sad news of tony curtis' passing at the age of 85.he was a great actor in his times with a movie career spanning 60 years.he had the charm on women even here with the bombshell marilyn monroe.he was even good in the uk television cop series the persuaders alongside sir roger moore.i even enjoyed his version of harry houdini which is a favorite of mine apart from the defiant ones with sidney poiter.he shall surely be missed by his fans.
A reminder that they even took advantage of Cary’s alleged reaction to hearing Tony’s impersonation of him (“I don’t talk like that...!”) in the scene following this one-you’ll recall that when Joe was in the bubble bath (revealing shortly after that he was in there in full Shell Oil Jr. regalia, proving he indeed beat Jerry back to their room), and was chiding Joe for his ‘millionaire’ act, he made a point to bring up the phony accent, by pointedly remarking, in a damn good Cary impersonation of his own, I might add, “Nobody talks like that...!”
@@nhmooytis7058 I’ll give you some of my favourite “modern (ish)” filmmakers and you really can’t go wrong with any of their work but I’ll throw in specific recommendations of some of my favourites: Wes Anderson (Grand Budapest Hotel) Woody Allen (Midnight in Paris) Quentin Tarantino (Inglourious Basterds) Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) Martin McDonagh (In Bruges) The Coen Brothers (O Brother, Where Art Thou?) I don’t want this to become a novel of a comment, but if you would like some more recommendations I’d be happy to oblige.
Gladys Monroe's daughter---Marilyn, 💋. Stars in Some Like It Hot---escaped via an all girls band Betsy Aleta Susan Diane Cynthia Sr and I Jr..."Sugar" coincidence our pet, her role(calico-feline).
Billy Wilder dreaded filming this scene because he didn't think Marilyn could get through it without muffing her lines. Yet, it was done in only two takes and Marilyn didn't muff her lines not once.
"And bring your YACHT!"
LOL. Sheer. Brilliance.
This film is full of witty dialogue like this.
When Jack Lemmon realises it’s Tony Curtis is pure comic genius
If Marilyn hated doing this kind of roles it really didn’t show. It’s so perfect and obviously she poured her heart into playing the role
I love how he scares the kid away, and that silly mock Cary Grant accent ..... work of genuis that will live on for ever.
Silly? That’s the best Grant impression I’ve ever heard!

A classic scene from a classic movie, portrayed by a man who was in a class of his own. RIP Mr. Curtis, your yacht awaits you.
Poor Sugar clearly had a room temperature IQ. But she was so adorable that you had to fall in love with her.
One of his best performances, R.I.P Tony Curtis and also Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe.
I hear Cary Grant's first reaction to Tony Curtis' impression was "Oi don't tawk loike thet!"
"Yes, we have to be very careful whom we pick for a roommate..." 😆
I died laughing the first time I saw this movie it's in my top 10
RIP Tony Curtis, one of the last of his era
one of the most versatile, sensitive and intelligent actors, all time--he and his best friend frank--did it their way-will be very much missed..
Even Cary Grant wanted to be like Cary Grant Lol! He said so himself once. Dead on impersonation of Cary Grant on this scene,Tony was the real deal!
“Do you play the market”. “No the ukulele “. Hilarious line
After Marylin and Jack, now Tony Curtis leaves us.
R.I.P. Tony!!
Tony Curtis is a genius

TangerineTrees24 The way he stands up when he says it. LOL. :)
Jack Lemmon's wry smile in this scene was something else.
"Get outta here!" I don't know why I find this line so funny.
You heard your mother Junior, SCRAM! These beach ain't think enough for both of us, GET OUTTA HERE YOU! 😂😂😂😂😂
The way he wields the rolled up newspaper then just slides into the beach chair cracks me up every time
This part cracks me up too. Threatening the boy with a newspaper lol.

Such talent!
From now Tuny Curtis is one of the greatest artist of the Heaven. I like he forever. Peace!
There is a story that when Cary Grant saw this he said "I dont talk like that" sounding exactly like that
A great talent is lost today. RIP Tony Curtis!
He looks exactly like Jude Law, and she... I have no words. Simply, I love her, really I do. Nobody does better than my Marilyn, she's pure magic. From Mexico with love ; )

brilliant writing. What happened to being clever?
If you think movie writing has stopped being clever you're not watching the right movies.
@@ReillyQuizzle Today's movies might be clever but boring!
St000pid people can’t write smart screenplays.

Watched an episode of The Nanny today and the character Mr Sheffield sounded just like him at one point. I think he was trying to impersonate Tony...
"Oh well I guess Some Like It Hot" talking about styles of music, no wonder the movies title 😊
Billy Wilder, Billy Wilder and Billy Wilder............Oh, and did i mention, Billy wilder.
R.I.P.
lol i like this part
There isn’t a single line that isn’t genius.

Classic.
2:34 and that is where the title of the movie comes from
💋
My wife's dad was the bass player in
the Cuban band. They were the berries! Miguel Cardona. He was Puerto Rican, not Cuban.
“Good school” 😭
