    Very tired of people calling these 'entry level motorcycles'. Although true, many experienced riders prefer smaller bikes. I love ripping around on a small bike. It keeps you out of trouble and there is something much more fun about pushing a machine to its limits daily... as opposed to the frustration of rarely getting the opportunity to crack open the throttle on a larger bike. All motorcycles are FUN. It's about fun. To me, smaller bikes = more fun more often.

      "It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow." I still believe this after over 2 decades of riding experience. A liter bike is no fun when I'm still restricted to highway speeds (because I'd rather not spend money on traffic tickets).

      It's a good choice for entry level riders. If you're experienced you already know what you want and prefer regardless of what the label given to the bike.
      Why so tired of the label? I really don't understand why.

      I agree with you. I'm in the process of getting back into "road bikes". I'm deciding if I want to get a 750cc + bike, or a 1992 CBR250RR, which as we know rev's to 20k RPM's.
      I too want to have a bit of fun, without losing my licence. With a smaller 4 cylinder bike, I can rev it to kingdom com, and not worry about killing myself.
      With bigger bikes, you have to be careful. They have big powerful engines, heavy, and don't do well in the wet.
      My thoughts anyway.

    We bought my gf a cbr250r and i was feeling this flex in corner like something is pulling me and i was looking for some answers for so long. This video really helped me to know that i now know that it is just the way it is.

    At one moment you can be frustrated with every motorcycle. Traveling with a Duc Paginale, cornering with a chopper, riding in the city with an R6, etc. Take the right roads and you will not be frustrated with the CBR250. A lot of big bike riders borrow the smaller bike of the girlfriend just for checking something, doing a short trip to the supermarket, or why not, for just having fun. If you are not able to accept the bike for what it is, you will never be happy with any kind of motorcycle.

    If you need a freeway bike you should really consider at least a 500cc motorcycle. Yes, a 300 or 250 can cruise at highway speeds but they have to work pretty hard and lack passing power at higher speeds. Typically, you will also feel the extra work a smaller bike must do at highway speeds as vibration in your grips (which gets old fast). Small bikes have their purpose. They were not intended for extended highway riding.

    Given that so very many, but not all, new riders tend to graduate to larger bikes in less than 18 months, I would think the cbr250 would be a better option, all things considered. Plus, at this point, there are many more used ones on the market than there are ninja 300's. just my two bits.

  • @yeminacci
    @yeminacci 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I know this is comparing the 250 vs a 300, so obviously the 300cc engine will be more powerful, BUT. there was a race between 16 Ninja 250's vs 1 CBR250 in the field. the CBR250 placed top 3 in all 3 races, and won the last race. This was a race on a very curvy, track with lots of turns. The handling of the CBR is surpasses the ninja's by far, the NInja300 i'm assuming has the same body as the ninja250.

    i was thinking 300 for sure. but they have this deal at the local bike shop where if you buy the 250 you get FULL purchase price back if you turn it in to buy a bigger bike within 2 years with less than 10k miles on it. sounds like im getting a cbr250, think it'll do for a season or two?

    CBR r**** the Ninja when it comes to cornering.
    Sportyness is not just about raw power, but about handling as well. And that's where the baby Fireblade really shines.

    traffic density is also important, where i live traffic jam and potholes are everywhere. so i choose the cbr250r because its more comfortable to use

    Where I live in Australia the cbr is $1600 cheaper than the ninja. For me the ninja doesn't justify the extra cost.

  • @Kals2k
    @Kals2k 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I ride the Cbr250r. I love it as a commuter bike on the street but it sucks on the freeways because it would be idling close to red line and almost at its max mph. Which makes it difficult to pass people.

  • @Sgotya
    @Sgotya 10 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    I really don't understand how you can talk about performance comparison between these two bikes. Clearly the ninja 300 is more powerful than the cbr250r! by 50cc's! I mean cmon... lets talk apples for apples here guys.

    • @philipcooper8297
      @philipcooper8297 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not by 50cc, but by 1 extra cylinder. 2 cylinders = lighter pistons = more revs = more power. But, these are A2 friendly so 35kw top anyway.

    • @Sgotya
      @Sgotya 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      well you still made my point valid either way lol

    • @philipcooper8297
      @philipcooper8297 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sgotya Well, not really, I've just pointed out that you don't know anything about internal combustion four stroke engines.

    • @Sgotya
      @Sgotya 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont know much, that is true, but it is proven that the 300cc engine is more powerful than the 250cc in the Honda, so how is that an incorrect observation?

    • @philipcooper8297
      @philipcooper8297 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sgotya Well, more displacement does not mean more power. Anyway, according to your answer I can see you've already won and I've no intention in trying to explain to you how wrong you actually were. Revs = power, Displacement = torque.

    Comparison of a 250 and a 300 bike in engine performance way is not really a comparison.

    My CBR is faster then my 350. I did 130kms in a headwind and I still had throttle. Is it a 500 nope. Is it fun as hell yup! I bought a brand new 2013 on a clear out for $2700. I couldn't say no. Delivered to me with 0km on the odometer! Beat that Ninja!!!

  • @zissou6928
    @zissou6928 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yea but they've got no midrange and you have to wind them up to get any power out of them. They're fun for the first few months as a new rider, but then you slowly get more and more frustrated with the lack of power.

    I'm going to say that a 600/650 twin, in the city, is anything but slow. It has perfect power characteristics that allow you to peg it and just barely get away with it. I cannot peg my 955i too much in city traffic; you're asking for an accident bro.

    Typical motorcycle magazine reviews...... it's like having a bowl of ice cream covered with chocolate syrup, ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, sugar, molasses, corn flakes, peanuts & relish. With motorcycle sales on the decline for the past ten years it's little wonder we don't get the bikes we want with guys like this not being honest about the crap bike designs not meeting our needs or expectations. Nothing new or exciting is coming to the USA, some really neat bikes are in Europe from Honda, Yamaha & Kawasaki! Why is that?! Maybe these two glib "reviewers" could find out for us and report back?!
