It's cool how so many of these were kept as later legendaries and talents. The azerite armor system had its issues but individually some of those traits were so much fun
Glimmer of Light was such a powerful trait that it fundamentally changed the class design of Holy paladin ever since. No other azerite trait can boast that.
Shrouded suffocation for sin rogues is probably right up there with glimmer. It fundamentally changed the rotational decisions and talent choices since it launched in bfa. Even now it's the only real option for m+ for aoe, even with only 1 nerfed talent version
BFA as a ret paladin was a lot of fun. I used to do obscene aoe burst with light's decree, the azerite trait that gives a chance to cast divine storm for free, the essence that makes all holy power generating abilities generate double holy power, and the crusader talent that upgrades avenging wrath. Pop avenging wrath + trinkets + essence and you can pretty much just spam divine storm for 20 seconds with a few crusader strike/judgements to generate holy power.
Since BFA and the very beginning of Shadowlands, Ret never felt the same to me. Empyrean Might, Divine Purpose and the Major Essence that randomly gave you your Avenging Wrath made it so much fun to play. There was a lot of RNG, but because of that, it almost became consistent again in that something would proc almost every time you did something. Getting top DPS when you normally shouldnt because you randomly entered Avenging Wrath was just soo cool. And yes, Divine Storm spam go brrrrrrr. I miss you, Casino Ret
As a fire main for entire BFA I'm supriced Blaster Master isn't higher. This trait was so overpowered it got nerfed 2 or even 3 times and still was OP as all hell. From 8.2 to the end with late expansion haste values and memory of lucid dream power you basicly had 100% uptime on this. And 3x stacked at 3stscks on combustion got us what we call "critical mass of mastery" sending ignite damage to the moon. I remember on Mythic Za'Qul progres in the delirum realm where you were hostile to everyone and had big haste buff anyone standing in ignite spread range would get ONESHOTED by a single tick of ignite. This was absoloutly insane what mage could do when you stacked enough % mastery increases. And when corruptions came around and masterfull 3 stacked yet another multiplaier on the ignite things got so insane shit like "30 mages vs Ny'Alotha" happend. Aslo fun fact fully BiS geared fire mage could solo at least first 2 bosses of MYTHIC Uldir, aka first raid of BFA. I did IT with a help of a friendly tank to not get oneshoted by Boss melee, but they melted so incredibly fast with enough practice it was probably possible to do without any help...meby later bosses were doable too, dunno we didnt want to clear trash. And I dont know how true it is, but aparently Mythic BFA raids still arent soloable to this day, 2 expansions later (at least for players geared in open world stuff), dont know how legit this info is cuz I can't be bothered to go test this, and guy with open world geuar isn't the most reliable source even if his main content is soloing old raids and dungs
"Better for single target, like Champion of Azeroth" I guarantee you, no DHs were taking Champion of Azeroth unless you got super unlucky with terrible Azerite Pieces and had no other choice but to use the PVP one.
2:04 Demon Blades was NOT the best talent at its tier in BfA. I don't exactly remember its competing options, but I think Immolation Aura and the talent that increases the fury generated by Demon's Bite. The actual reason why Furious Gaze was so good is because of the Demonic talent, which made Blade Dance really strong for a brief time after using Eye Beam. Since the CD of Blade Dance scales with haste, furious gaze made it possible to fit 3 BDs into your Demonic window. Plus having a high amount of haste was what Demon Hunters wanted back then, and FG provided so much it that gear with haste on became practically worthless due to diminishing returns.
It was the best for high haste situations, when demon bite became obsolete for high fury generation. Aren't u mixing shadowlands there with immolation aura, burning wound and momentum?
Nah, all fire mage mains (after they got mechagon wrists that is) had a great time too. Hell we had so much fun entire community cries 24/7 to bring back the BFA version of fire cuz it was Uber superior than the SL, or the current one, and most likely the best fire ever was
Concentrated Flame was the most invaluable of them all. It allowed my warlock to heal. Meaning I could, and can still to this day, solo Valithria Dreamwalker in Icecrown Citadel.
Honestly, Flash Freeze was so good, that some frost mages were able to do 5x player HP in single shot with shattered Glacial Spike at the end of BfA, where average HP was around 400 - 500k... yep, 2,5 mil. single-target dmg with around 2 mil to secondary target... in one hit
Frost had some insane AoE potential. I remember spending tons of gold testing different builds with my azerite gear. Packed Ice was a crazy strong talent for AoE with splitting ice. Anything affected by frozen orb took bonus damage from ice lance and icicles. The first trash pull of Tol Dagor was the best. Pull the whole room and then blizzard frozen orb ice lance spam
I honestly wish that the Heart of Azeroth just became an upgradable piece of equipment that scaled for the rest of the game. Such a powerful & lore-heavy artifact shouldn't be sitting in my bank gathering dust...
Holy paladins used Light's Decree only for increased wings duration. We didn't have holy power back then, so damage part was complitely useless. Glimmer complitely changed our playstyle. I missed few weeks in BfA, and when I was back all holy paladins were obsessed with haste (instead of crit) and this new trait.
For mage, I always wanted the bonus damage for arcane missiles on clearcast arcane mage, but no high level piece had it to the point that a difference of 1000 intellect was a dps downgrade.
It did eventually get bug fixed but for about a full patch (iirc) Boiling Brew for Brewmaster was bugged and made way more gift of the ox orbs spawn. So a spec that would otherwise have to rely mostly on things like Bloodthirsty Urchin/healers suddenly had insane self healing. Not saying it deserves to be on this list bc it only really mattered in dungeons (scaled based off target count) where warrior was already king but honorable mention
Shadow priest had an azerite power that gave crit and lasted longer the longer you were in void form, which defined the entire spec. I believe it was nerfed EVERY patch and still was by far the best trait. Love the video but this I think was up there if not better than glimmer.
The only cool thing I can think of about bfa was formulating a sick glass cannon set with corruption (I joined wow in bfa so can't compare it to any other xpacs) but I really liked playing my DH with the azurite buffs and corruption diminishing returns

Top 10 Kill Makros could be a good list. I start off with Shackadin's insta kill Makro. It is in most Expansion one of the hardest hitting Makros, like 5 abilitys in 1 hit, but with the cost of 5 minutes cooldown 🤣 your like 5 minutes helpless, but kills everything under 60% HP. Totaly love this Makro since Wotlk.
Cold steel hot blood was an insanly good traits for fury warrior if you played with the talent that increase your damage by 10% after you rampage it would be your first damage
Would it be a cool idea to break these videos into two? One for pvp one for pve? Could be an easy way to use one idea and get two videos out of it. I know I personally enjoy hearing both the pve history and pvp history and would absolutely watch both :)
I remember quitting bfa for a few months after classic came out. then i log back in bfa is still current a few seconds in i get a whisper telling me i picked the wrong traits. and knowing where this was going i logged out and went back to classic before they ruined that too a year later.
I Like the arcane mage pressurepoint (ruthly translated from German) azerithtrait that would make arcane Barrage Hit Harder at target after 35% health. That allowed for one burst arcane mages in Arena. Like IT began, the mage was invisible and boom im dead

I think you missed the monk fists talent , that was picked for everything, or ele shamab the frost fire nature buff , or outlaw rogue gun , kinda unfair since single target was aoe for outlaw but you needed those. Again i cant understand why Test of might was last ...have u even see the DPS sims of Test vs other traits? Like, 2 stacks of it was better than any 3 stack , it was mandatory, and even fie AoE wirh Warbreaker modifying CS, even the mortal strike one didn't compare for ST
I would have added sin rogue shrouded suffocation somewhere. Like glimmer, it changed how sin plays aoe and the way we earn combo points with garrote ever since it launched. Even now its the top choice for m+
I feel like if I read more on how to play the game better, I would have enjoyed bfa more than I did. I didn’t hate the game, but there’s too much to do it got overwhelming
Yea...I remember when our worst DH was first in dps after getting 2 infinite stars 3 super early on. The conversation went kinda like "JESUS 40% of your damage are stars, how many procs did you get"?! "Nah unlucky pull only 38" meanwhile I think a warlock "Unlucky?! I got 11 and its abaut normal for me"
@@xsardes336 I was typically my guild's top DPS as Havoc, and once I started stacking Infinite Stars (along with the haste multiplier), I was doing so much more DPS than anyone else on Shad'har it wasn't even funny (I had a Twilight Dev set for multitarget that still put of bonkers numbers). Roughly 40% of my damage was from Stars, but contrary to popular belief, you had to EARN that DPS from blasting haste effects (kinda like Unholy DKs neeing to max out the effectiveness of their summons).
You are no real fire main if you hated this...what can possibly be more fun on fire than stacking MASSIVE ignite and watching it spread in a big pull, melting anything that comes close. Close to the end of BFA I used to pull entire free hold instance at once on m0 only to pop off and watch IT all melt in seconds while I wait in ice block and see that once again mount did not drop...aslo since I was killing entire instance in seconds it was half decent raw gold farm

Not realy. I mean top 2 are obvious. Glimmer singlehandedly made a spec, and the haste one was BiS for every single spec in the game, but other ones are on wrong positions and some obvious are missing (I mean come on Frost mage one in top 3, when Frost was trash for most of expansion, while the prot warrior thunder clap one isn't included when it was so OP it made prot, a tank, do more damage in aoe than most dps classes is kinda dumb)

Demon blades was amazing. Especially with the bile stained crawg fist weapons. They pumped.

Spriests shadow apparitions was awesome damage, and you could use the images to "track" where people were.
I remember Colossus Smash during Legion decreased the targer armour by 30%.
I remember Arms Warriors beign very sought after for this thing only.

If only all azerite traits were as amazingly designed as Glimmer of Light, maybe the whole system would not have sucked so bad.
Some of the traits I miss but God do I not miss the way we got the traits.

Brain Storm briefly granting 3-4x your entire intellect bar after finishing Evocation for about 3 weeks in Uldir was broken.
Not sure if it would be top 10, but 3stack Swift Roundhouse for WW Monk was goated. Shame they kinda instanerfed it to the ground.
Lights Decree also benefitted from the fact that you randomly gained Avenging Wrath from your Major Essence, which it also increased the duration of.

Blizzard is actually currently planning to move the Glimmer of Light talent to the second tier, effectively making it baseline for everyone.
