- This town is ran by WILD MONKEYS and its absolutely crazy. We visited central Thailand for a few days and a trip to the Lopburi to see the town ran by wild monkeys could not be missed. Lopburi might just be the craziest place we have ever been. These wild monkeys literally roam free in this town in Thailand and people just get one with their life.
Lopburi became famous for the infamous monkey war in 2020 when deprived and starving, the monkeys took to the streets to have a war against a rival gang. This became global news and really put Lopburi on the map.

Lop buri former deserted city since king Narai Ayutthaya age dead,400or500 ago.until railway pass this area but monkey live here before human comeback

That’s a ridiculous area. The roads and sidewalks are full of monkey dung and i had to watch my sides, front, back and above my head when i was there last year.
Do any of them have rabies though?

So surprised you visited my hometown. It’s good that you studied before to use minimum amount of gadget. They love to steal everything hanging from your body. They once took my food just before I opened my car and I tried to get it back but my mum said “just give it to them. It doesn’t worth if they bite you” I was mad but couldn’t do anything.🤣
The story is true that they made an abandoned cinema a monkey tomb. I was old enough to go to that cinema before. The cinema was on the second floor and the first floor was a small department store. The shop you filmed that abandoned inside was a music school and the shop with the fence that sell painting is my friend’s shop.😂
There are two gangs of monkeys, 1 at the circle and another one at the 3 pagodas. They don’t get along and fight often on the street. Cars needed to stop and I went to school late. 😅

It's not that they "like" monkeys.
It's more like they have to live there, so it's better give monkeys some food so that they can live happily together.
But it's not about liking monkeys, alright 😂

1:50 This is the idol of "Phra Kan" or the God of time or time controller of life. Believed that if someone is near death or very unlucky life. If he or his representative comes to make a wish to Phra Kan , his death time will be delayed to live longer or shorten the lucky time come to him faster. This is an ancient Hindu temple before Buddhism arrived. Monkey represents Hanuman in Hinduism. Therefore, no chase monkeys out of the temple and do not harm them. But people had to move away.

How do people live in Lopburi?
1. Without jewlerey, anything loose in their pockets, no sunglasses (or any glasses), phone securely latched to them via lanyard, no earrings, handbags, wallets unless inside a backpack securely strapped to your back and padlocks on the zipper holes.
2. Extreme vigilance in up-to-date rabbies vaccinations
3. And if you love monkeys... Lots of fun.
Can't wait to visit. At least the pickpockets there are adorable. Not thieving brats. 😅
This town is ancient Khmer kingdom before it was shifted to Ankor Wat, Cambodia.
It was under Hinduism influence, which they believe Monkeys are the god guardians.

This monkeys area so busy with cars. People drive fast. Sadly monkeys got killed by car. I wish they close this street for tourists. No more cars on monkeys area. ❤
