- After a full engine rebuild we need to adjust the valves on this bus. This is how to adjust Volkswagen valves with hydraulic lifters. Its really not that hard.

Nice " how-to" video. You should do more of them. Great dad joke too.
How can you tell a typ4 engine has hydraulic lifters or not?
I love Bus
I like it.
I have a hydraulic tappet that bangs really loud when cold like hammers hitting then all of a sudden becomes sewing machine quiet when hot. Would this fix it?
Hi. Make me understand something... at how many rpms do you need to set at the 28 degree Mark?
👍
Most hydraulic lifters only need adjustment once after set up. Are these VW ones like that? I owned several old VWs and the solid lifters sure needed periodic adjusting.
We Just rebuilt the engine. This is why they needed adjustment. Once adjusted they shouldn't need it again for a long time.
How can you determine if you have Hydraulic lifters? 78 bus was rebuilt once and don’t know if the mechanic changed the lifter type
Did he change the crank? Hydro only crank grinds. Remove valve cover remove holding spring Remove lifter assembly...use a magnet on a stick. Slide in lifter bore and see if it's magnetic. Solid is magnetic hydraulic are not
My 77 doesn’t have hydraulic lifters. Is it possible to change what I have to hydraulic lifters?
You can but it’s not worth the time. You have to split the case
Engine just purrs along now. Wish you were 1200 miles closer and you could do mine.
Q: Why was the broom late for the meeting?
A: It over swept
When I adjust at the cylinder at TDC, I feel as though I'm just pressing the push rod into the lifter.
