I’m sorry that would be illegal, If I got pulled over with $12,000 and a receipt from my bank they would have no ground over confiscating any sort of money. It isn’t uncommon for people to buy things with cash, Vehicles, equipment, It’s your money you can spend it how you want. I would sue, it’s not illegal to have money on you, Nor is it probable cause of doing illegal activity, it’s American currency.

There was a case in Miami FL where the guy had a hydroponic store. The government went to his house and took $20 million in cash. They said it was from selling drugs. They never charged him with selling drugs but filed a civil forfeiture case. They took the money and left him with $2 million so he could pay his lawyer.

The problem with his statement is that in most cases, the person isn’t arrested. They just seize the cash but don’t arrest you. He says it’s not uncommon to be arrested and your cash seized but it IS uncommon to be arrested.

Sometimes even that doesn't matter, I have seen people who said that in court and still went to jail and as soon as they got out they put the wrong person behind bars. Smh

If your carrying 10 k, how do you prove where it came from, record every serial no. And photograph them? I don' see how you prove you own the money? Please explain better.

Funny that no one cares about that law until it happens to them! some people think that they are safe because they are law abiding citizens but lets put this scenario: you are a father that has 3 teenage kids, 1 of your kids is a bad apple, one day the police comes looking for your son because he was involved on drugs and a robbery they search your house and find large amounts of cash that you have saved over the course of many years .... because your sons is a drug addict your $ is taken away no matter how much you plead them that that $ is yours..... final thoughts: No one is safe regardless of how fair and straight you are, a simple mistake can lead the police to take your hard earned cash! could be a traffic stop, a drug addict family member, even your own mother and father that needed $ and you are taking the $ in cash to them! the law needs to change! but no one is stepping up the plate! what wold it take for America to wake up?....

What if my friend who is a Film maker to take the money out of his Bank account and give it to me in Cash plus deposit it into my Three bank accounts . Even if its Say amount of say $10,000,000 into three of my accounts . If its all legal transfer from a gentlemen who has a Couple three Billion dollars does it make it all legal . And then Fly out of this country with say $5,000,000 or more on his Priviate plane into Norway of Hamburg with this money in a couple Suit cases . Are private planes ever searched when flying into a European country to buy real estate of own a busness with this money . As long as this Film producer has paid all the Taxes on this money. ???

Why is a person with "large" amounts of cash required to show anything to prove a claim of legitimacy? By itself it deserves absolutely no presumption, whether codified or not, that something illegal is the source of said cash. That is not probable cause and it does not make everyone that carries large amounts of cash a criminal.
