    I can’t explain how great this video is. I took a couple of lessons with Claude Harmon lll and this video fully explains what he was trying to convey. My ball striking has improved 100%. Claude said that contact is king and this video does just that.

    A tip I got from a scratch player on the range today that worked better for me than swinging my right arm under a static left arm as per this video lesson (which I have tried many times over the years). This is a swing thought (feel vs real) that you can use while hitting shots. On the downswing.., through impact, think of sending the lead arm high and the trail arm low (you must think of both arms). Do a number of reps without a club - turn to the top with hands in normal swing position - swing down with the lead arm going high (full extension) and the trail arm going low. As the fellow said to me on the range - the alligator open mouth follow through. I have been working on improving my side bend and getting my lead arm off my chest in the downswing (getting stuck) - this swing thought did both (at least today it did).

    Indeed you can learn so much by not hitting a ball to inrain a desired feeling- side bend plus rotation is key for ball turf contact

    Pretty amazing video. When I try the drill with the club being held up by my left hand, my left hip barks at me. But during my regular swing, my left hip never hurts. That tells me my regular swing isn't even close to what it should be. Shocking! OK..not shocking :) This drill will help loosen up my hip a little bit, and get my downswing working the way it should. Eric...you rock. Thanks!

    This is great video. Here’s my question. On a granular level what is the first thing to move as you transition into the downswing. For a right handed golfer I thinks it’s the left knee making a lateral shift towards the target.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you!
      When the tour average is measured on 3D, we'll see the hips begin moving forward towards the target first as the arms, hands and club are still working up and back.

    hey Eric! thanks for the video. I feel this is an absolute fantastic drill - if done right. but how can you ensure that you keep doing it correctly as it's quite easy to manipulate the club when it's not planted, and when it is planted, you won't notice it falling or moving that much to the extent that you let it go if you do stand up early? hope that makes sense

    • @dripsa
      @dripsa ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Okay nevermind. When I tried it I felt the difference immediately. Did it a few 100 (?) times, got the feel and slowly incorporated it with slow small swings and half swings, and the full swings on video. I think this is a gamechanger for me. Struggling with ET, I tried the wall/chair, rotating hips feel, nothing worked as well as this with keeping my bum against the line on video. This is great drill and can't wait to hit the range.
      Am I supposed to feel like I look like Fleetwood when I swing? 😂 Insane sidebend and I'll probably be stiff tomorrow

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I hear ya and good question...
      at the end of the day with any move (or drill) I would always suggest using video when you do it so you can see exactly what you are really doing and adjust!

    • @dripsa
      @dripsa ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CogornoGolf sorry to get back to this one Eric, but this drill on the range today before most shots. At address I did the move again as a reminder. Lo and behold, I'm doing the Matt Wolfe wiggle without even trying to. I'm guessing that's why he does it too?

  • @thomasfraser9072
    @thomasfraser9072 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Caution: setting up to the ball correctly is essential and know that the side bending ( crunching ) must occur at the exact same moment and degree your body is rotating or else injury will occur. Ouch!
    It happened to me several years ago. So yes the drill you have shown must be mastered before one swings their club. Cheers

    • @CogornoGolf

      Hey Kendall....it is MOSTLY left but not ALL left.....if its not ALL left that means SOME is still on right......the SOME on the right is where he mentioned..

    I thought the reason that I was standing was that I felt too close to the ground now I gotta feel closer

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      haha...well it all depends really.
      someones people DO get too close and then stand up....especially on backswing. Some players get closer to ground in backswing THEN stand up in downswing.
      If anything I would reverse that.
      If I could see your swing I could tell you in 2 seconds what's the issue and how to fix....send videos to www.cogornoogolf.com if you don't get it sorted we can fix there!

      The trail shoulder works DOWN, yes, but it also works FORWARD. The forward component will help to move your low point forward. This is a key concept we explain in more detail here👍

    This is why TH-cam golf instrction can completely mess you up. Not you personally Eric but the other guy just said you want to lower the lead hip now this guy says you don't lol I think I'm strickly relying on hard numbers from here on out lol

    • @rmcmillanrmcmillan
      @rmcmillanrmcmillan ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you so much for your response and I’m sorry for any confusion the feeling is sidebend when you sidebend the left hip will get higher on the way through this in turn will keep the right hip Lower you’re not trying to bend your trail knee to get your right hip towards the ground I hope that helps and again I’m sorry for any confusion

    • @rmcmillanrmcmillan
      @rmcmillanrmcmillan ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I meant to say length in the lead side increase the height of the left hip on the way through this will decrease the length of the right hip which in turn will be slightly closer to the ground than the left hip

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey nunyo!
      I see what you're saying....
      Maybe this will help....
      The lead hip goes up......for all golfers....of all time. No if ands or buts about it.
      When coaches talk about the pelvis going DOWN.....
      Thats only for the VERY VERY VERY beginning of the downswing.......THEN....it goes up.
      The left hip is lower than the right hip at the top of the backswing due to the bending of the legs and tilt of pelvis
      The lead hip is lower when you start down because it was lower at the top....if it goes MORE down...its a fraction of a second....then up
