- BATMAN Caped Crusader CARTOON UPDATE! The NEW Upcoming Batman Cartoon Caped Crusader will release this August. It will NOW be set in the 1940s and Batman will have limited resources. Bruce Timm creator of the Batman Animated Series is going to take a bold take on Classic Batman Characters & Villains. One thing they could do to explain where he was during the war is take a example from the Gotham 1919-1939 fan book is say he joined the war but during a battle he went missing. During that he was training to be Batman but when he returned to Gotham he said he was a POW and managed to escape

I think they might bring in Hugo Strange and Dr. Death. I think that certain villains from the original detective comics will be there.
I’m really loving the idea of reinventing Harley Quinn as this Jekyll and Hyde character
The one thing that interests me about the show is the fact that most of these characters will have very older appearances looks,
but also the fact that Harley quinn will be a reverse of what she was already, instead of being a fairly serious psychiatrist to a goofy clown, she's now a goofy and joyous psychiatrist to a serious killer clown. I love the reversal.
Also, I agree on it being almost a Dr. jekyll, and Mr Hyde situation.
From what I heard, this is gonna be a Film Noire inspired show. It's a collab between Bruce Timm and Matt Reeves and apart of the Reevesverse (along with the likes of the 2022 Batman movie and the upcoming sequel and Penguin show); (in some way or another). So, sufficed to say, expectations are quite high and there's a lot about it to look forward to when it releases on Amazon Prime (which btws, isnt one to shy away from R rated content, even if it's animated. Take for example the Boys, it's spin off animated series or Invincible and it's spin-off).
Ngl, the Jekyll and Hyde approach with Harley is kinda cool! I’m quite excited for this show now.
In the golden age comics batman and robin were heavily involved with war and would occasionally fight Nazis, so that would be interesting to see
Are they going show Batman fighting Nazis in the Caped Crusaders?
@@dragonhead99 it’s unknown right now but it is likely, but like kwing said this can either take place before or after the war, so will have to see.

@@OGP2293 hope Robin doesn’t wait that long. Most recent adaptations in the past 16 years has pretty much sideline Robin (Brave and the Bold, Arkham, the movies, and Beware). Robin is a very important character not only for Batman, but for the Golden Age of comics. The character should definitely get his do
I'm grateful just on the merit alone that Timm is involved with this show. His dedication to Batman character cannot be understated. And for him to have been one of the major forces behind TAS should speak volymes for the potential of this show. I'm glad the show was picked up after HBO Max gave them the finger.
This show really interests me. I loved the interpretation of Batman in The New Frontier movie.
in the 1943 seriel movie batman and robin were agents for the usa who were given the task of prootecting gotham
REALLY curious about who will be voicing Batman. Could be Roger Craig Smith from Arkham Origins, Troy Baker from Batman: Telltale Series, I always thought Jason O'Mara was great as Batman from the DCAMU but people took that definitely flawed but overall solid universe for granted. Wouldn't be shocked if its someone completely new.
@Connor-8 It will be neither, most of the voice cast will be people we haven't heard voicing Batman before. O'Mara was good as Batman though. I had no issues with him voicing him. I'm sure whoever is going to voice Batman / Bruce Wayne will do fine.
I want it to be someone new that will give us a fresh take on the character. My problem with a lot of Batman voice actors is that they miss what made Kevin Conroy’s voice so amazing. It sounded so natural you could hear it coming out of a real person. Other voice actors think doing a deep voice is all it takes. I hope the guy isn’t trying to do an Kevin Conroy impression but instead gives us a brand new performance.
I really like Bruce Greenwood and the guy from The Batman 2004 became their voice sounds natural and they aren’t doing Conroy impressions.

i think if this does well, season 2 or even 3.. Joker, this would be a great opportunity to introduce this period pieces versions of scarecrow , harvey dent, Mr. Freeze, maybe calendar man and or Mad hatter. Plus itll be harley a outting for her to be her own antagonist.. THEN maybe meets joker. Very exciting stuff!

Ed Brubaker is the writer for the first season so depending on how you feel about his work thats either a big plus or not. The only thing that makes me hesitant is JJ Abrams being attached
Hey man, love you videos! I'm hoping you might consider doing modded suit showcases. You could talk about suits that never came out! The amount of Arkham Knight skins that have been modded in as a new suit slot are in the 100s. It is also very easy to install them. I feel starved for more Batman knowledge.

I expect the show will have all the cars from the 40s like 1944 deluxe coupe 1939 Chrysler Royal and a 1937 Chevy pickup all the cars in the 40s will be on that show maybe.

Rewatching TAS leading up to this. I love the aesthetics with that series.
What I think would be cool is if every season he evolves into different ages of Batman. Like if they get a season 2, he gets Robin and wears that blue and gray costume. That’d be cool!
I like how theres still hope for dc animation despite everyone there being a money hater. This will further prove why batman is an important character to them. One thing that keeps bothering me is how warner bros keeps using harley quinn in every media which people dont really care about compared to batman beyond who was also created by bruce timm, is liked by many and yet warner leaves him in the dark.
There are new Batman 89 book that will take place between the 89 film and the Returns. It is called Batman: Resurrection by sw eu writer John Jackson Miller buy it in the fall!

Matt Reeves and Bruce Timm have cooked with this one, and Ed Brubaker being involved in the story is a really good sign.

Could be wrong but having followed Kwing here and there for a bit and following him on and off on Twitter, I believe he is referencing "woke" behavior. Such as gender and race bending characters, feminist power, disrespecting comic lore to appease people who aren't real fans of the source material, etc. Basically anything that isn't really comic accurate.
Race bending and gender swapping characters... Deviating away from good storytelling and traditional stories to push an agenda and to tell their own narrative. A lack of disrespect for the source material.
