The hipocrisy, “the children will not be punished for the sins of their fathers”…BS…

If I'm reading the comment section correctly, then that's really sad. Punishing children for something they have no control over.

Yep, that's why they had to retract it. God made a big oopsie on this one!

The policy was that children of LGBTQ parents could not be baptized at the age of 8 as members of the Mormon Church nor be blessed as babies when the childs name would be put in church records. They would instead have to wait until they were 18, not be living with those parents, and also disavow same sex cohabitation and/or marriage.

    Great reportage and distinctions.
Even if the gender "issue" defies our pitiable lack of understanding, there is NO JUSTIFICATION for our lack of HUMANITY, open-HEARTED refusal to even presume to judge any thing about which we are STILL SO stiltifyingly IGNORANT.
    ALL OF US. 🌺🌺🌺

Pres Monson was not pro-LGBTQ, but in my estimation he was an exceptionally kind man who wouldn’t accept the collateral damage of such an aggressive stance as acceptable. By internal accounts he was also in full dementia by this time.
The 2015 Policy has all the marks of something pushed by Oaks with Nelson’s support, and they got a slipping Monson to sign off based on the historical position.
It shouldn’t be lost on Church members that Packer’s declaration of the Family Proclamation as revelation was stricken, nor that Oaks does 90% of the speaking harshly against the queer community. Also, Oaks obviously accepts human suffering as acceptable collateral damage in the name of loyalty to the brethren. He made that priority perfectly clear at the Be One Celebration.

The recent blog post about this in Times and Seasons was so aggravating.

Hinkley was rumored to be homosexual. Really wouldn't shock me if evidence came out proving this. People usually criticize something they don't like about themselves.

Same with Brigham Young. He was likely bisexual. He “adopted” tons of very young men, inviting them to live with him, and sometimes sleep in the same room…

How was The Family Proclamation to the World FOR same-sex marriage????

It wasn't for it. It was and is against it. It lays out very strict gender rolls. It makes it clear that, according to the Mormon church, families only come in one shape and size. It's very exclusive and supposed to be hurtful to whomever doesn't fit in the box.

It wasn’t. She said that it was written so that the Church would be able to argue AGAINST gay marriage.

@@joshuawatson1902 to be fair, the bible can easily be used to argue against gay marriage as well.
