Do these new transgender policies protect children?
Statistically speaking, straight white men are 100% more likely to abuse children then someone who identifies as homosexual, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender.

In 1695, Kidd received a royal commission to hunt down pirates and enemy French ships in the Indian Ocean. Later, England turned ag...

Here is what I know and believe. The Book of Mormon lands as spoken of in the Book of Mormon was not in North America. What is in North America are the ancestors of the people that boarded the ships that Hagoth built and sailed North. And it came to pass that in the thirty and seventh year of the reign of the judges, there was a large company of men, even to the amount of five thousand and four hundred men, with their wives and their children, departed out of the land of Zarahemla into the land which was northward. Now look at this: 5400 men... plus their wives 5400 women... plus their children.. ?? 2 kids per family guessing here is 10,800 plus another 10,800 for men and their wives equals 21,600 people. Then this is what the Book of Mormon says: 6 And behold, there were many of the Nephites who did enter therein and did sail forth with much provisions, and also many women and children; and they took their course northward. And thus ended the thirty and seventh year. 7 And in the thirty and eighth year, this man built other ships. And the first ship did also return, and many more people did enter into it; and they also took much provisions, and set out again to the land northward. 8 And it came to pass that they were never heard of more. And we suppose that they were drowned in the depths of the sea. And it came to pass that one other ship also did sail forth; and whither she did go we know not. 9 And it came to pass that in this year there were many people who went forth into the land northward. And thus ended the thirty and eighth year. 10 And it came to pass in the thirty and ninth year of the reign of the judges, Shiblon died also, and Corianton had gone forth to the land northward in a ship, to carry forth provisions unto the people who had gone forth into that land. So you have the 36th year... the 37th year... and the 38th year that more people went north. Why do you think all these people were going north? To get away from the death and destruction of the Lamanites on the Nephites. So take that population that went north... and in 10 years... what does one think the population will be of those 21600 people? This was in 50 bc... . so what kind of population would there be in 50 years later? And 100 years after that? And 100 years after that? and 100 years after that? So I believe that Meso-America was the place where they went North to. And from there... they went North again and ended up in the USA.

History repeating itself. When black Americans were fighting for their rights, good Christian Americans cried "They (black men) are coming for our (white) women!" When it was about gay rights, they cried "They're recruiting our children." And today, when it's about trans rights, they cry "There's trans people in the bathrooms." It's all about fear, Christian obsession with sex, and othering the already marginalized. It's pathetic as well as harmful.

Wouldn't it be funny if the presence of trans men in Relief Society and trans women in Young Men's, etc. leads to the members realizing that sex/gender segregation is stupid and unnecessary, and deciding to get rid of it altogether? I know there's a 0% chance of that happening, but it's a nice little fantasy during this dark time.

I too grew up in the church. When I first heard someone claim JS used a stone in a hat (for anything, ever, not just translation) it was at a fireside, where the speaker called the notion "anti-Mormon lies." Fast forward 20 years, and local leaders acted as though JS's use of the seer stone in a hat had always been common knowledge, and if your didn't know about it then you are a lazy learner. Lies and gaslighting. The church hid, and continues to actively hide, significant details about its history to keep people from leaving. The true stories of how the church came to exist are sordid, twisted, and just bizarre.

If the position is people in the LDS Church held racist views (including those in the upper ranks of leadership), this isn't new information. Further, this isn't unique to Mormonism. The history of the US, including in the religious sphere, finds this same sentiment. One can find during antebellum and with the Confederate States during the Civil War a litany of justifications for slavery based on direct appeals to the Bible. Further, racism isn't limited to the US. It is global phenomenon. In Arabic the word for slave is that same word used for Blacks. Prejudice isn't limited to race. It also finds expression with ethnicity, class (both economic and social), as well as other categories such as caste. For example, in Modern day Japan, those whose ancestors were "burakumin" (untouchables) when Japan had a formal caste system during the Tokugawa Shogunate will pay vast monies to companies to hide their ancestry (from a potential spouse's family or employer etc.) that could end the would-be relationship because of such information if discovered. Mormonism recognizes people are creatures of their time and socio-culturally informed "seeing through a glass darkly". There is no notion of any kind of Papal Infallibility within Mormonism. Therefore, pointing out there was racist sentiment among Mormons is banal.
