I worked for one year in Angola in 2014 and went back for short business visits in 2016 and 2017. I spent about 4 months in Huambo Province and the rest of the year 2014 in Viana area Luanda. The photos of Belas Shopping and other Luanda places you shared in your videos remind me of that period of my life. Looking back, I’m kind of proud of myself that I got through. To be honest, it was not easy, and it seemed everything took a lot more time to be done, especially when dealing with government. Those were challenging times but somehow I felt they also enabled me to become a better person. And also there’s lots of nice local people I met and knew, and culture and history I experienced, so I did had some great time there as well. Another thing I want to add is that coming from a country (China) where religion has little if not zero impact on daily life, one of the first culture shocks I had was to learn that literally every Angolan colleague goes to Church on Sundays, and this is an important part of their way of life, so if we were on a tight schedule and had to work over the weekend, we could only do things by ourselves on Sundays. Anyways, thank you for the very informative video series about Luanda. I’m sure you could help many people who plan to move to Luanda by sharing your experiences.👍
