I am into rock and blues, but I still find myself watching your channel. I look forward to Sunday with Ola every week and I'm 67. Must be your oldest fan? LOL
Sounds like a cross between a fuzz and one of the more searing overdrives. The sustained rumble is so gurgley. Very unique sound, and very much agree with use for leads
Ola - " It actully doesnt sound bad." Bro with that speaker, head and that Solar recorded with 58, would make my grandmas car sound like Slayer. It chugs
Ola, whenever you make a video like this, involving a high gain monster like ENGL, you should switch to the amps distortion sound just for a quick comparison. I would have loved to heard that ENGL chug!
New Will It Chug shows always brighten my day. Chugging doesn't seem to be that pedals strong point, but it sure has a nice classic rock lead tone. I kind of feel like it's something that would sound really good with pedals before it, as if it was its own little amp.
ok... so THIS time i think the noise is the amp's power supply, specifically the input transformer. The input transformer creates a strong 50/60Hz magnetic field that can't be shielded perfectly. In the video your guitar is very close to the input transformer, so the 50/60Hz noise gets picked up by your guitar's... pickups... and amplified by the distortion pedal to the point of being annoying. Try rotating the guitar or stepping back a few feet and see if it goes away. (it'll be the power supply one of these days...)
That CLEAN TONE through the FX loop before you ever even started!!! I'm only 1:18 into the vid, but I HAD to stop it and comment; First, thank you SO MUCH for doing these pedal demos through a CLEAN AMP! SO MANY videos start with "Here's my clean tone..." And their amp is almost ALWAYS breaking up already... It's like people are almost SCARED of a good, CLEAN tone, lol, and your's here is just GREAT, man... It's so THICK with that low-end, and the highs are CLEAR but smooth, and not spikey or shrill at all...
Sounds like it would be a great Blues Overdrive Pedal. Its dynamics had a certain amount of heft too them, perfect for adding more gain for Blues playing.
On the topic of chugging on stuff not really designed for chugging: Archtype Cory Wong please! It has 1 mildly gainy amp and 2 overdrive pedals, you can do it Ola!
Sometimes things you review excite me and that makes me want to pick up and play, this isn't one of those things. It's doing something, just not enough magic sauce to make it inspirational. Thanks for doing things with stuff Ola. Ps. I'm not into Metal and this certainly IS the channel for me because I like what you do. 😀👍
This review helped make my mind to buy, i know you do mostly metal, but im more of a rock blues player. but with how i want my sound, i want it right on the border.
Was waiting for this since a long time. Thanks! I love the pedal's sound, though it's not for super heavy metal rhythm. At least without a boost. It may suit my pedalboard just fine. You may want to compare it with The Pugilist, that would be really interesting!
Here’s what I’ve found with the FMD, it’s difficult to dial in and isn’t really a "metal" pedal. It works better for like shoegaze and post rock stuff. Adding a boost before it takes it up a notch.
not a big fan of metal, but still i think your opinion is very important and respectful. Also, i also make mi guitar chug damn good so i need to know how to chug properly. keep it rockin, Ola!
Thanks Ola, back in the 90's I used to play through a M80 cab and man.. was that thing a high gain beast. So I've been super curious about the full moon.. sadly.. yeah it lacks that over the top scream but it does have that super clean tonality. Great review as always Ola.
I can see that pedal being used to push the older fender tube amps for blues using a strat. Like a Stevie Ray Vaughn type tone. Just a thought. I'm no expert lol
Hey Ola! This isnt related to the video, but I had been trying to contact the sales support to Solar Guitars but hadnt had any response in a while, just trying to make sure my order is fine and shipping on time
I'm not a metal player so I guess I don't know but I kind of disagree with the statement that the pedal doesn't have enough gain in the pedal. Sounds fine to me. I actually like this pedal despite most raves on the new fender pedals being about the pugliest. If the pedal has enough gain to push the amp into hum, it's probably enough gain I would think. The real question is how does a class A preamp compare in gain structure to this pedal in terms of quality. As for tightness, I have no idea what you mean, but what if it's the guitar or pickups mixed with the pedal. I'm sure the pedal is meant to be a looser more transparent distortion for modern tastes anyway rather than what you're saying about tight.
Hey ola! Maybe for will it chug can you compare the clean channel with the pedal's distortion with the amps distortion to see the difference? Would be cool to see.
I love how whenever someone plays "Trespass" by the Haunted the knee-jerk reaction is to say it sounds like AILD lol Goes to show how influential The Haunted were :)
Can you demo the Randall RX120RH and RX412 Half Stack? I haven't seen a good review of it, and I'm considering getting it. It's only $549 dollars as well.
Would really like to see a will it chug on the mesa boogie throttle box. Been curious about that pedal forever. Mostly because I'm not a good enough player to justify buying a dual rectifier lol
Trying out the Fender Full Moon distortion... WILL IT CHUG?
Will Ola hair chug?
Definitely does.... I would say a solid 80% chug!!
Ola what about the Zoom tri-metal tm-01 for a future will it chug?? Love your channel dude.
Chug master👍👅
It sounds good, I think it's based on the Fender Supersonic distorted channel, that's the lack of gain come from.
I really like how these fender pedals look
Me too, but I just wish the jacks were on the top. It's so big (wide) with patch cables.
I am into rock and blues, but I still find myself watching your channel. I look forward to Sunday with Ola every week and I'm 67. Must be your oldest fan? LOL
That’s amazing, wow
Not bad, just seems to be geared for more of a heavy rock tone.
Yes indeed, sounds like gnr or motley crue to me:)))
Very bluesy, as expected when it comes to Fender, but killer anyways!
I find that taking something not metal, and trying to make it metal turns it into something unique. I kind of like this pedal in that sense
Might do with having a tube screamer in front of it.
Thing that confuses me is that most amps out there can do overdriven rock. Not all can do the high gain modern metal thing.
Sounds like a cross between a fuzz and one of the more searing overdrives. The sustained rumble is so gurgley. Very unique sound, and very much agree with use for leads
Ola - " It actully doesnt sound bad."
Bro with that speaker, head and that Solar recorded with 58, would make my grandmas car sound like Slayer.
It chugs
The amazing thing about this pedal is it completely erased your two new tattoos...... Dangerous bit of gear that!
LOL
People might say "this video was made before the tattoos!"
Fuck no man, this pedal is dangerous, it removes your tattoos!
😂😂😂
Definitely removes the tattoos because he had the same shirt on in his sunday with ola segment lol
I'ma get this $170 pedal and start my own complete and painless tattoo removal business! Tell my clients "There's just gonna be a little noise"
I like the pause at the end, its like that bit you used to get before the secret end track on a cd...back in the 1930's
Damn! I was literally thinking of getting some but there doesnt seem to be any reviews out there that is centered around metal.
Good timing ola!
That’s one really nice distortion pedal for rock.
Ola, whenever you make a video like this, involving a high gain monster like ENGL, you should switch to the amps distortion sound just for a quick comparison. I would have loved to heard that ENGL chug!
The JHS 3 series overdrive pushes my Mesa pretty well. Might be a good choice for a WIC
I liked that Neuman mic in that close up of trespass
Ola the master of chuggery, taking on the world one pedal at a time.
New Will It Chug shows always brighten my day. Chugging doesn't seem to be that pedals strong point, but it sure has a nice classic rock lead tone. I kind of feel like it's something that would sound really good with pedals before it, as if it was its own little amp.
4:18 Sounds really awsome. Really cool riff
It's "Trespass" by The Haunted.
If it needed the xtra 10%..why didnt you put on the tube screamer?🤔
The setup is sick dude! I love how the logo is looking!
It's missing the imp
Ola, I'm not a metalhead by an stretch of the imagination, but your content is god tier!
Will, it, chug *click*
'I'm on a highhhhhhway to hell'
Instant Angus young tone lol.
Sounds awesome, love the bite, clarity, and dynamics. Is that not allowed in modern metal?
That’s like VINTAGE EVH Type Chug 🔥🔥❤️
Good to see you demonstrated a Fender pedal. Tbh, I don't even know that Fender also made a pedal, man! Thanks Ola 🥰
They made a couple of distortion pedals, overdrive, reverb, delay, boost and almost pretty much any pedal that would be essential to your board
Liquids on the amp?! *tut tut!*
I love how the mug says "Unisex"

your reaction when you were like what add a little more channel gain had me dying laughing 5:33
Ola: guitars at an affordable price
Solar guitars: $699 cheapest one.
Me with a 200 budget
You can't expect any kind of quality with 200 bucks
Get a squier or maybe a epiphone sg, they have some around that range or a really old ltd.
Ya,you can.if any company takes pride in theyr shit.sawtooth if all people make quality Michael Angelo approved guitars...there you go...$250
And nobody on here including Ola is as good as Michael Angelo batio...nobody.
@@thefuneralparade speed isn't everything. It's not even half... Batio is a hack.
Will It Chug: Wampler Sovereign Distortion Pedal
Pretty pretty please!
Thanks for checking this off my list
Good morning Ola!!! Thanks for all your wonderful, had work!! Had not come across this pedal yet! I like it!!
The earliest I’ve even been to an ola video
That CLEAN TONE through the FX loop before you ever even started!!! I'm only 1:18 into the vid, but I HAD to stop it and comment; First, thank you SO MUCH for doing these pedal demos through a CLEAN AMP! SO MANY videos start with "Here's my clean tone..." Sounds like it would be a great Blues Overdrive Pedal. Its dynamics had a certain amount of heft too them, perfect for adding more gain for Blues playing.
Thanks to this video I found my favourite distortion pedal
Cool! Ever tried the Iron Horse from Walrus? That pedal is chonky as hell
5:58 Killer Tone!
Please do a proper demo of Fender Bassbreaker 30r. Their only high gain amp at the moment
On the topic of chugging on stuff not really designed for chugging: Archtype Cory Wong please! It has 1 mildly gainy amp and 2 overdrive pedals, you can do it Ola!
It was doing basic chug immediately. and got better but that sucker is noisy AF
love this feature!!in the rooms my favourite!!
Man that's noisy! Sounds great though! \m/
pickups less than 1m from the mains transformer, that's the noise source.
@@Tberg76 he doesn't have feed back that bad from any other distortion though
this pedal actually sounds amazing, like, the voicing and distortion curve sounds great. just put like a tube screamer into it.
5:32 ola turned into Arnold LMAO
This was the first pedal I ever bought. I love it. I do not play metal though
This review helped make my mind to buy, i know you do mostly metal, but im more of a rock blues player. but with how i want my sound, i want it right on the border.
You didn't push it with a Tube Screamer type pedal like I thought you would lol
or in the disto channel
Was waiting for this since a long time. Thanks!
I love the pedal's sound, though it's not for super heavy metal rhythm. At least without a boost. It may suit my pedalboard just fine.
You may want to compare it with The Pugilist, that would be really interesting!
Distortion pedal by Fender... i tought it was gonna' hug but it actually kinda chugged!
I have this, i wouldnt use it for metal but it could work for sure.
i like that the Engl Savage 60 is always on your channel, great will it chug amp!
If you could get a hold of one, Satchel's signature Charvel would be fun to see you jam on!
nice job , enjoyable and impressive playing, thank to your good efforts I need no other distortion pedals
"Actually, that doesnt sound too bad" my fav ola quote.
4:18 The Full Moon is "Trespassing on sacred realms" and I fucking love it!
What’s the riff he plays at 4:19? He did it in the dimebolt guitar video recently as well..
Trespass by The Haunted.. sorry for the late reply mang!
What's the riff at ☺4:20? Ola plays it from time to time and i always start rocking out 🤘🏼
Trespass by the haunted
@@thedonylama luv u mr
What the... I have a Engl Savage 60 as well, and I thought I bought it from you ages ago but there it is.
Definitely more of a 1980's Aerosmith type of distortion than it is a Six Feet Under sounding distortion
Sounds completely delightful as for a lead guitarist!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn. Fuck. Shit. That's good sounding
Here’s what I’ve found with the FMD, it’s difficult to dial in and isn’t really a "metal" pedal. It works better for like shoegaze and post rock stuff. Adding a boost before it takes it up a notch.
I would love to hear how these distortion pedals you try work as a boost for the distorted channel on some of your amps
I've had one for 6 months and yes its noisy but a lot of fun.
Great pedals for the Price , I've tried out most of them in my local music store. Clever battery door too.
Amazing preview and testing video! btw where are the tattoos? ;)))))
not a big fan of metal, but still i think your opinion is very important and respectful. Also, i also make mi guitar chug damn good so i need to know how to chug properly.
keep it rockin, Ola!
I freakin' love that AB1.6S!
Thanks Ola, back in the 90's I used to play through a M80 cab and man.. was that thing a high gain beast. So I've been super curious about the full moon.. sadly.. yeah it lacks that over the top scream but it does have that super clean tonality. Great review as always Ola.
8:40 is increible !!!!
I mean... it technically chugs. But Fender just doesn't get us metal dudes
Aside from the EVH 5150 III series of amps.
Only trevor peres uses Fender to play dearh metal
@@antrace92 And Jon Lavasseur.
The older Fender Metal Zone amps were pretty solid.
Iron maiden too.
Sound great, definitely needs some punch. What's the song name in 4'25"?
The Haunted Trespass.. sorry late reply mang!
Ola has seriosly some good cabs
That sounds decent 🤘 Great video as always.
Lmao will it mug as he points to the floor I'm like will it rug!!!!!!!!!
I can see that pedal being used to push the older fender tube amps for blues using a strat. Like a Stevie Ray Vaughn type tone. Just a thought. I'm no expert lol
Anyone knows what the song at 4:22 is ?
Weird that you didn't try a boost pedal before the distortion... After all, you are Ola the chugerer...
I've got one of these, the BOOST knob is a big part of all the extra noise. It's alright overall though
Increíble, gracias por el Review, saludos desde Perú 🤘🏽🇵🇪
5:36 when you buy new amp and try to carefully dial the volume nob
Hey Ola! This isnt related to the video, but I had been trying to contact the sales support to Solar Guitars but hadnt had any response in a while, just trying to make sure my order is fine and shipping on time
Boost the distortion pedal with a Tube Screamer for tightness and more gain.
I'm not a metal player so I guess I don't know but I kind of disagree with the statement that the pedal doesn't have enough gain in the pedal. Sounds fine to me. Next: fender MTG: LA distortion pedal
I bet if you added a boost like a TS9 or a 808 you could get that extra gain it needs pretty easily
THANKS OLA MY STRESS RELIEVER :)
Hey ola! Maybe for will it chug can you compare the clean channel with the pedal's distortion with the amps distortion to see the difference? Would be cool to see.
I think a presence would make it perfect 👌. An EQ pedal or a booster would seal the deal. Nice pedal
5:33 really just does something for me
Ikr
just saw those hk nanos in the sweetwater catalog, cool knobs
I remember the Peavey Deuce combo - solid state preamp with tube poweramp. Maybe they were onto something and we’ve only just rediscovered it
You want the other way around. Tubes in the preamp, solid state power
Love it, sounds great.
4:18 surprise As I Lay Dying tone/sound
I love how whenever someone plays "Trespass" by the Haunted the knee-jerk reaction is to say it sounds like AILD lol
Goes to show how influential The Haunted were :)
I have a request that you would try out the Mad professor Stone grey distortion.
Can you demo the Randall RX120RH and RX412 Half Stack? I haven't seen a good review of it, and I'm considering getting it. It's only $549 dollars as well.
Oh BOI, just in time for a new Ola video.
