To be honest, while his son will no doubt LOVE the tree house and play in it for years to come, I bet he would've loved it way more if he'd actually gotten to build it with his dad instead of watching it go up from afar. Even if it wasn't so epic or as well built, it's that bonding time doing really cool things like that together with our parents that create the most amazing bonds, and memories of a lifetime... Imagine his son's pride in the finished tree house if he'd gotten to actually help build it himself from start to finish. He would have gotten to learn so much from his dad and really develop his creativity, confidence and skills as they designed and built it together. Kind of a missed opportunity IMHO, but it's definitely an amazing tree house for sure! I really love this channel. Always learn a lot.

Thought you might go with the netting to match the bridge or at least cables.
Definitely agreeing with the other comments on replacing the shims before they rot in the next year or two. Also through bolts and beefy washers for the top bolts on each pipe base or just replace with rock climbing holds. The other side could be retrofitted with the fireman’s pole.

    Howdy Mr. Jason.
I still got a bit more of the video to watch, but I paused here at the point where you're doing the stair railing to comment:
Just a fun thought since this is for your kid....On the stair section, seeing as how you've spent a rather large bucket of money on this build....How bout adding a curved tunnel-ish roof type thing above those stairs so as your son is walking up the stairs, it'll be like walking through a tunnel. You could add cool blue or black lights on the inside and the sides would come down over the outside of the rails completely encasing the whole stairwell making it like, well, a tunnel.
    Kids love that sorta stuff.

Cool system. Looks good, it's versatile, and it looks pretty easy to install.
I like your ladder rungs much better than the Amazon rungs. But being screwed into those planks, they're going to flex and eventually start pulling the planks out over time. It's exactly the same problem you'd have if you screwed a rung or a shelf into drywall without screwing into studs.
I'd recommend adding vertical 2x4 studs behind the planks, then screw the rungs on through the planks into the studs; the rungs would never flex then, no matter who climbed on them.
After you add the studs, you could even cut a couple of portholes through the planks on either side of the ladder.
FYI: Your heart went on just... a little TOO long.

You should have install a fireman's pole off the deck. I did that for my kid's elevated playhouse and loved it.....way back in the late 80's. They're grown but the playhouse with money bars, slide, and fireman's pole is still there.
