I can't thank you enough for this. Coming from a history of both working in the mental health field as well as a personal struggle with mental health that became apparent after severe trauma. With the knowledge I've gained over the years, this should have been diagnosed as PTSD. This led me down a path of starting an SSR!, which was helpful, but as time went on was not a path I wanted to stay on. I would very slowly wean off and be fine until confronted with a large stress. Then I would find myself sinking back into depression, panic and return to using an SSRI. This on and off use continued for over a decade. Finally after once again weaning myself off, I followed up with a Dr. of natural medicine. He started me on adrenal and hormonal support which was extremely helpful and I felt I had resolved the depression for good. However about four years later, after a serious stressor, I ended up with leaky gut and became quite ill with persistent diarrhea leading to extreme weight loss. Again, with the help of a naturopath, I was able to get better. But it has been a struggle since than to stay healthy. Their are a multitude of factors that I strongly suspect are contributing. I find it frustrating because some of these such as mercury toxicity, possible mold exposure and suspected systemic candida are expensive to deal with. But that aside, I loved this interview and for many years have believed her approach is a much healthier one. This is painfully lacking in mainstream medicine and I share her hope that there will be a merger between functional and mainstream medicine.

Excellent interview. Organic, vegan, gluten-free, soya-free food and filtered water are the essentials of our health.

Very interesting... I would never have been prescribed antidepressant. It's their withdrawal that kicked in many inflammation issues in my body which are now still not in control 5 years later despite a good diet... Now what's next ? Can't function anymore anyway. Lost my job, my friends, my social life, my beloved hobbies and physical activities... Modern psychiatry is poisoning. New approches like this one are welcome and could change the game for many patients : they could avoid to be put on toxic drugs that will ruin their life for ever. Thank you for this new insights, more human.
