I hope I speak for everyone who watches your videos - Thank You for the effort it takes to move the camera to different places to catch what you are doing from so many different angles and then to have to walk back to get the camera for a different angle shot. Posting videos is so much more than just hitting a few computer keys. Love your down home videos!!

Ditto Allan. Tyler is much more than a competent cattle farmer, especially as a film maker with the camera angles and content. His precision with the lens makes me feel so much a part of his farm in Northern California each time I view. He really has it all together - family, supportive wife, wonderful children, farm, haymaking, dogs, bulls, steers, heifers and calves, pigs and poultry. What a content for brilliant videos! Then his music in the background, I'd like more of that please. There's little that this innovative guy can't do. Definitely a 'can do' sort of guy. Well Done!! Tyler, many thanks for sharing your happy lifestyle with us. Have a great Christmas. Derek Lovemore. Brisbane Australia.

Morning Tyler, I guess there's a lot more to hay bale management than this city boy knows !!
I totally agree that it's always better to over-calculate on your bale requirements than to run out !! Do your cattle prefer the straw bales over the green grass ? I wouldn't have thought so - but then I'm not a cow !! BTW, how do you spell your puppy's name, who's growing like a weed ? Callie is obviously a good influence on her and can help in her training, I'm sure !!

Not sure why this amazes you as it's been a farmers life since the year dot. Every farmer I ever knew, including my Dad, "got the job done by themselves" as you put it. Even on our dairy farms Dad was the only worker, other than at milking time when Mum had to help until we 7 siblings grew old enough to help with 365 days a year morning and night. Farming is a solo job but it requires a man of many talents . And may I add most of them never have any training in areas required. They must be highly skilled in management of time, animals, seasons, soil production/protection/enrichment, water, electricity, plumbing, welding, carpentry, multi vehicle/appliances maintenance, fencing, finances... the list goes on and on !!!!!

I’m sure you thought of it but what about putting in a bunk line for your cows and heifers. Making a mixed ration for them and also your calves would help with health and growth. I know it cost more but the results and returns will make it worth it.

We had an extremely bad hay year in Northern BC. Farms that normally get 200 or more bales ended up with 55 to 60 bales (rounds) So me with my mini farm / grandmas petting zoo lol I'm feeding soaked hay cubes & pellets mostly I did get a couple of older bales so I can give them a bit of dry once a day just to keep them happy ;)

Have you ever done a hay analysis on your bales? They seem to have very mature grass with full seed heads in them which would give very low nutritional value--mostly fiber that is not as digestible. Knowing the quality if the hay should figure into the daily amount fed. Also it would be best to know the weight of your bales so that you know your daily feed rate in actual pounds per day based on the quality of the hay.

Do you know who the very first man that raised domestic animals was? It was Adams son Abel. You can read about that in the bible book of genesis where Abel made a sacrifice to god. His brother Cain grew vegetation and was jealous that god accepted Abels offering and not his so he committed the first murder when he killed Abel.
