*UPDATED* 2024 $2000 Gaming PC Build Guide here: th-cam.com/video/8IZvEF4Ui10/w-d-xo.html
is there a difference between the two? im debating on which one to build. The liquid cooling installation looks hard. But also, should we wait on making this PC since your new video said to wait
I'm planning on getting this exact build for Christmas, thank you for the video!
Tip on the Merc 310 7900XTX. When installing, make sure to click the little bios switch to the right position. This will unlock the full power bios and allow you to draw up to approx 467watts and will increase the default clock speed to 2679mhz. The default fan curve on this card is very aggressive and loud, but with the card having a vapor chamber and excellent cooling, you can tune the fans to be very quiet.
Nice. I did not realize that, great info. Love this machine.
excelente consejo broh !
Goddamn 467 watts lol
Will the 850w power supply he mentioned still be able to handle the draw?
@@kylestaples465 yes as the load wattage for this build at default mode is about 600W, and adding another 120W to the GPU, it's still very manageable at around 720W
Because of you, I learned and built my own Gaming PC from one of your Build Videos, and it lasted me over 5 years. After lots of trial and error, I have learned quite a bit, and now I am going to college for Computer Science into Cybersecurity (Dabbled a bit in IT). Basically, I want to thank you for everything.
Now this will my new build, but with a few personal adjustments lol.
Awesome and I’m glad my videos were helpful over the years! It sounds like we got both got our degrees through Stem.
I just built this and it rocks! My first build. Thank You!
Incredible! Thank you Jesse!
How is it running? I’m thinking about getting into making this build too.
@typsydypsy5448 great so far. I've only played Stanfield, but it runs on max settings with no issues.
I love how you're using Montech products. That's my dream case right there
This was great. My last PC build was 2017, and now I'm hyper focusing on a new build. SSD's are chips now is wild to me, whoa.
Times have changed!
hi scattervolt you helped me build my pc thank you so much
My pleasure!
This is actually crazy. I built almost this exact build on PC part picker then saw this video 😮
Very nice build, i would love to see a 1700-1800 pc build because there are almost no videos in that price range, it's either 1.5k or 2k but either way great video!
I made a $1600 one a few months back that's almost in that price range.
Just drop the xtx to an xt and poof your in that price range
built the i3 12100f and rx 6600 build yesterday and it works great :)
Incredible!
Great budget setup although a Ryzen 5 5600 wouldn't be much more expensive!
just got my i3, rest of the parts on the way
Maybe he's got upgrade plans to 13th/14th gen on LGA 1700
@@ScatterVolt True!
Great video, i am on the fence about my future build. Even though i am 10 years in IT i never build one 😮 the shame. I would go for an xt instead for an xtx, only have an 1080p screen. And power draw is a factor here, other then that, would probably do the same components.
Bro this is a steal that thing looks like a 5000$ gaming pc imo.
Hey scatter I’m new to building pcs and I was thinking about getting this exact build and following your guide but I see additional fans at the top. Are those necessary to put on or can I just not have them?
Here is some love for air coolers at this price point, many lower budget builds waste their money on liquid cooling
Brother, I've had some disagreements with some of your builds but this is spot on, really nice. Only thing I would have done differently was pick a different case, and probably go liquid cooling. That might take you $75-100 over budget but dropping the PSU to 1000w, you could come pretty close to the mark. I just feel like, due to the overall quality of this build, a liquid cooling solution would be more appropriate, but that's it. Fantastic choices. I'd love to own this PC. Really well done. This setup will be playing games at ultra settings in 4k for years to come. Great job.
Actually nevermind, that case is fine. Was just looking at reviews, I was thinking of another model, case is good. Liquid cooling would be my only change. I think 1000w is enough, but I do not know the complete power draw. Is this your current personal rig?
The choice for the air cooler was solely so that this could be a $2000 PC build guide and not a $2100 build guide. Fortunately the 7800X3D is quite manageable with an air cooler so you're right on with that price estimation.
Like I say in the video, I decided to use that spare 1200W psu because I had it lying around and needed to use it, but 850W would be adequate for this build.
Montech Sky 2 is a great case mate haha
@@ScatterVolt which is why I corrected myself. Great build. Would love to own that system.
@@ScatterVolt Yeah I have not built with the 7800x yet. Was not sure about it's thermals or power consumption.
I wanna built my first pc and this one looks great. But I do wanna have a water cooled one. Which one would you recommend for this build? and would i have to change anything else if I did switch to water cooled
I woulda gone with an aio because of where the intake fans are positioned so air has to make a 90 degree bend for the cpu intake, but nonetheless, great build.
The decision for the air cooler was for budget and aesthetics. I couldn’t afford to squeeze in an AIO into this build since a 7900XTX + 7800x3d in a $2000 is very tight.
@@ScatterVoltwhat water cooling system would you recommend if you were to replace in this build?
@@kylestaples465exactly what I’m thibking
I did this pc build! I have a question I hope maybe you could answer ?
When I tried plugging in the graphics card, I put in the connector and the adjacent connector. But the next power connector also has an adjacent connector. Is it supposed to just hang off the side? If so, Does it matter which end I use on the cord?
Going to def use this motherboard and cpu but going with the 7900xt merc and an aio
Planning to build my first PC, gonna buy parts from my own country and abroad as well, (cpu and gpu are freaking expensive here).
I was thinking about using a rtx 4080 instead though purely cause of DLSS. But I really like the extra VRAM on the 7900
Finally built the system doing the installs and drivers now we changed a couple things we went ahead and got a 4 terabyte into drive figured that heat sink looks pretty good LOL thank you for the assistance with the video and comment earlier if you read this
I'm glad you finally got everything figured out!
@@ScatterVolt after months of learning Intel CPU and Nvidia 3060 TI now I got to figure out amd's this is going to be interesting
i dont normally approve of your builds, however this one is actually pretty solid, got my thumbsup this is what i would build at the same budget so awesome job!
Nice build! Are the case fans you're using the Montech AX120 PWM or RX120?
Hey there, I'm building almost this same PC. Except I'm using a RX 6950 XT instead. I'm even using the same CPU cooler, as I agree with your logic. Your guide is helping me a lot, because this is the first computer I have ever attempted to build. A question if you have time:
Where did you find the additional fans for this system? I see that you used the one that came boxed above the PSU (seemed odd they did that) on top with an additional two fans. These fans are unique as they blow in the reverse direction compared to the label, I assume you know what I mean, and to make things look right, I wanna be sure to buy the same ones that came with the case.
Where did you find them? Currently I have only seen one on Amazon, and I mean it's just one, and it's $20 a fan. I was planning on installing 3 up top like you did, because the controller gives you the additional 3 connections. I would like to add another 3 on the bottom too, but I am not sure how to do that.
have you built this? im getting the EXACT same build as you and would like to know if its amazing performance and if you have any issues, thank you!
We got the parts week and a half ago putting the computer together in the next couple days we've got problems with logistics I am filing for disability for reasons just ain't able to do the same stuff that used to
Hey scatter I have the same build and I was trying to research how to customize the case fans rgb and haven’t had any luck. I noticed that you said we can change it through the motherboard software. Could you by chance tell me what to download to be able to do that?
Next video gonna be "How to get your hands on $2,000 to build a $2,000 PC". 😂
Nice build! Incredible value for the price!
If you were to uograde the mother board on this what would you choose? Also im new to this but will this setup allow for an xbox controller to be synced via Bluetooth?
hi can i change the SSD to 4TB and change the power supply to 1000W and change the case? and do you have any recommendation for what i can change the case too.
Are the extra fans a necessity or optional and how would this run on games like ark survival evolved?
I was using a 6 pipe cpu cooler. Temps were getting to high so i switched to an AIO closed loop water cooler. Same cpu and gpu in this video. Also changed bios. PBO set to advanced, all cores to negative 30. Temps are about 10c cooler.
What temps were u getting ?
Nice build
Thank you!
Hi ScatterVolt, I bought this exact system. Amazon just emailed me that I can't get the cooler. Can you recommend a replacement? Thank you!
How much do you squat bench and deadlift bro, you look strong
Will this build last a long time with the air cooling used in this video?
Quick question where did u get the extra rgb fan lights
Do you recommend getting the warranty on the parts?
My first pc(father bought in 2017) was for around 350€ and it was really good pc( i was able to play gta5 fortnite 140~fps in 2020/2021) but now it's ain't it so i decided to save till i get like 2000€ and i wanted exactly what you did there(also what has more potential for future games 7900xtx or rtx 4080?)
Is it good for content creation and other productive works?
Like video streaming, video editing, photoshop, blender etc?
Hello, can you please provide link for the extra fans added to the case. Thank you
I would love to know where you got the upper fans, I can’t seem to find them
im building one too rn and its kinda similar
Cpu - 7700x
Gpu - rtx 4080(possibly gigabyte eagle OC)
Ram - Gskill flare 16x2 6000 CL36
motherboard - Same
Psu - Corsair RM850e
Cpu cooler - Deepcool LE500 240mm aio
Case - Lian Li Lancool 216 argb
Storage - Kingston KC3000 1tb and crucial ps3 plus 1tb
Nice. Any reason why you're choosing the 4080 over a 7900XTX?
@@ScatterVolt Im a 3d artist and maya and max lack support for amd gpus for eg. arnold only supports nvidia and redshift supports amd but only on mac, so i couldnt consider them even if they offer better performance for price(tho its only like 8% price diff where i live)
Fair enough
I love wlr v1 too
Im gonna buy thia i have been saving
how does the cpu cooler not sag? curious because i just bought pretty much this exact setup except slightly different ram/ssd. first pc build so i dont wanna screw anything up😭
I’m trying to do the same fan setup but isn’t it bad to have 4 exhaust and 2 intake ?
i am getting a 3080 for 400, but know nothing about PCs, could you recpmmend a good processor and motherboard combo pls for also 400 combined between these 2. and then i am assuming everytbing else wpuld also be like 400. so is 1200 spund about right for that?
I just added all the parts in the description to my Amazon cart and it came out to $1,033, am I missing something? Or have priced since the release of the video just gone down?
Im also going to be using this GPU/CPU combo but I will be building it in the fractal north mid tower case (black glass panel) but I have no idea on what parts would be best/good fit. My budget is 2300! Will be used mostly for gaming of course :)
Thinking of replicating his entire build. Is this an good investment?
@@morganae9269 yes
@@morganae9269 Yes it's a great investment. It's a top tier gaming pc and will comfortably play games at max settings with insane fps for the next 5 years at the very least.
Honestly I’ve never built a pc before. Do you need to format the m.2 drive?
Say I wanted to upgrade this to the 7900x3d with faster ram would a higher wattage pcu work on this build?
hey, i have a question so im going to build a pc and i only have a 60% keyboard and i dont know how i will enter the bios without the delete key
I have this case and it comes with an extra fan that goes on the top of the PSU shroud, that brings air right to graphics card. You didn't show that. And the only way to get that fan installed is to do it before the GPU is installed.
how long does this pc last? would i ever need to replace parts?
Would this build work with a Ryzen 9
Just built my first desktop PC. Wanted to go with AM5 but its so much more expensive compared to Intel Boards.
I went with the i7-14700K and RX7800XT for some good 1440p gaming. For someone upgrading from a GTX1060.. 1080p gaming.. this is a huge upgrade. 1440p is definitely the way to go.
Your specs do 4k
dude what monitor do you use. im thinking about building this but what monitor is good for it
yooo you used my case!! just used the montech sky two for my first budget build today lmao
it's a very underrated PC case for the money.
@@ScatterVolt fr
Might get a liquid CPU cooler, not sure if the case is big enough for it (I'm a pc building noob)
Which fan did u use on that case
Bought all the parts for this build. The case was the last item that came, and they sent me a whole prebuilt pc instead of an empty case 😮
Nah that’s 🧢😅
Lol, it's true I sent what i bought and what they sent me on Instagram
The price of the montech sky two tripled here in the uk no idea why
it was one of my favourite cases and a good value option but not anymore
That sucks
It looks like the cpu cooler is sagging downwards a little when viewed from the side?
Can you link the top 3 fans you put in the case
I am going to be building this computer my oldest son got $2,000 and he wanted a computer this is the best price performance I could find it looks awesome I wish I had it I have a 3060 TI NZXT kit hopefully get it built today he's kind of procrastinated this weekend got it last week telling him there's a time limit on this and I can't get into record it for me
He is twenty-three years and has an 85-inch 4K TV I told him he's going to want to get a 40in 4K mini LED LG monitor later because that's the style he would like
The build is great! would it be fine if I switch the GPU to a 4080? If possible, are there any other parts that I need to replace or everything is fine as it is even if I change the gpu?
Everything is fine
I like to ask how you hook up 8fans to one controller with only 6 input ?
What SSD should I use instead of the one in the video because you can't order it anymore :(
Planning on buying all these, however can someone link me the exact fans on the top of the pc case, would really appreciate it
This is the case Im going to get. looks so dope. question, did your fan hub come without issue? some reported months ago the hub running fans at 100%. wondering if they fixed the issue like they said they would. awesome video!
It didn't seem like it to me.
@@ScatterVolt perfect, now to decide on a budget build 6800xt or midrange
@@yolover111 Pretty much any video about the 7800xt, just change the 7800xt for a 6800xt and youll be set. Their so similar you can just interchangeably swap them without issue.
Would it make sense to upgrade to 64 gig ram and 2 tb ssd if I use for video and photo editing besides gaming? Love the video btw! Thanks!
obviously
Do you recommend this build for a 1440p 240hz monitor? I want to play nice looking fps games on max settings 1440p with 240fps 1% lows
Check my updated build in the description
Would switching the back fan to intake have negative effects on the system even though that would make the case be in neutral pressure?
Should be fine
Is this compatible with the RTX 4080 SUPER?
I'm thinking of doing this build in a week or so, but I'm curious on what liquid cooling system would you recommend if you chose one for this build?
Any 240/280mm aio should do
Love your build can you tell me if the mother board have a 3x M.2 Slots?
It'll have that listed for you on the motherboard's product page on it's website
so bought this momtherboard, cpu and ram. however i cant use the ram at 6000mhz? please help, the ram has to be on 4800mhz to work. Do i need a better motherboard or an intel cpu and different motherboard?
Where is the link for the extra fans? Are they included with another part.
I want to know that too 😊
Does anyone know what the 3 RBG fams that were installed at the top of the case are? I didn't see them mentioned in the description
same question lol
Can i use a ryzen 5 7600x for this build because someone told me that the gpu should be more powerfull then the cpu and when i checked your build on a bottlenech calculator your build has no bottleneck. I thought that cpu has to be less powerfull then the GPU
Hey scattervolt, when i clicked the links for the ssd both said that they were sold out. In your opinion, which ssd would be the next best option?
Watch the updated $2000 pc build guide
@@ScatterVolt gotcha, Thanks!
sheesh, that build looks great! 🔥

and btw if someone from your team reads this, i am currently building my very first pc and i want to know if i3-13100F & RX6650XT combo (and 32gig 3200 ram kit) will not bottleneck? thanks again!
Budget & mid-range Gaming PCs don't bottleneck
@@ScatterVoltnice! thx for the reply :)
@@ScatterVolt I've watched a few of your videos recently and have been impressed, but I respectfully dispute that (the claim that "budget & mid-range gaming PCs don't bottleneck"). There will always be a bottleneck, that's just the nature of computing. Your performance on anything in computing or gaming will always be hitting the performance limit of one of the components, otherwise there wouldn't be a performance ceiling.
The truth is that while one of your components will always be the limiting factor in performance, your goal should be to minimize the performance differences between components (i.e. you don't want to, say, have a modern, high-end graphics card but a very, very old CPU, as that would be a severe bottleneck that would essentially be wasting the graphics card). You want them to be in the same performance "ballpark." But you'll always be limited by one of your components, and I feel like telling people that budget PCs "don't bottleneck" is borderline misinforming them
I mean sure, if you want to run Fortnite on performance mode or CS:GO/Valorant at lowest settings possible at 1080p on a 6650XT and i3 then sure, you'll bottleneck at 300fps+
But in literally any other regular gaming application, an i3 13100F will not bottleneck a 6650XT at 1080p whatsoever.
are the extra fans needed?
Hey. Trying to learn how to build pcs and stuff which is why I’m wondering? I’ve seen a lot of stuff about thermal paste. Is it necessary? I don’t see a lot of tutorials using it?
Watch this: th-cam.com/video/8IZvEF4Ui10/w-d-xo.html
What monitor fits this beat
perfect prices for handeling good vr games may buy the pc or build
Did you see the updated build?
Hey thanks for putting this video out. I’ve never built a pc before, and am going to save money to build this one.
My question to you, if you had to guess, how many years would this last me?
Also, as games become more demanding, would I just need to upgrade some internals, or build a completely new pc??
I don’t think you will need to upgrade as this computer will be able to run mostly all new games that come out for quite a few years
You'll easily run new games at max settings with great fps for at least 5 years.
Hey man if you were to use an AIO for this build which would you recommend?
Any you like
So I’m deciding to go for a different case with more fans and an aio. Is 850w still fine or should I go 1000? My first build so I’m kinda clueless

Sell them on my website (see my twitter)
Hello,
I'm planning to build this same list, according to what I understand from the comment section. if you're willing to go a bit over than 2k USD, it's best to change the CPU cooler with a liquid cooler, right?
If you want. The air cooler is pretty good as is.
oh nice! I was thinking that those things with liquid cooling is always better. @@ScatterVolt
