My mum became very sick during lockdown1 and I was so worried about her I couldn't focus on reading at all until I started reading children's books. They were exactly what I needed, and maybe aligns with what you were saying about "recovering your inner child"? I have also been doing yoga with Adriene and meditating every day and it has been wonderfully healing for me at this time, especially her most recent30 day journey "breath". Sending you lots of love.
Starting my day with one of your videos sets my on the right track! You have so much great insight, and the genuine and honest way in which you approach your content is amazing. Thank you for being real, and helping us explore all aspects of ourselves. The book recommendations were amazing, and I'm probably going to try and get my hands on all of them!! Hope you have a relaxing day, and keep taking care of yourself!

Hey lovely Thanks for the book recommendations I’ll definitely be purchasing a couple of those! As a fellow INTJ I thought you might like Quiet - Susan Cain ( reaaaally good!!) and Where the Crawdads Sing which is so beautifully written! Hope you’re well Allana xx
Cannot tell you how much I look forward to your videos.... they are such a moment of calm and a re-set in my day when they pop up (and most I watch multiple times... is that sad?! Ha! 😂) THANK YOU for the book recommendations my Kindle is being WELL loved in this lockdown 3.0!! X ❤
I have an office job but have been WFH since the beginning of the pandemic. I absolutely love WFH however it has made me really appreciate that I still have to log on at a certain time and work a normal day. I definitely would struggle if it was down to me, I know I would keep putting things off. So I think set working hours as if you are working for someone else (even when you are not) would definitely be beneficial, especially if other areas of your life are out of sorts right now. 🥰🤗xx Also I just read Wintering and it made me think of you and I think you would love it if you haven't already read it! 📚
You are such a wonderful woman! Inspiration during hard times... we too are in lockdown here in Norway and vaccines are slow slow slow in coming... so it is not known really when things will lift. And of course, life manages to add its share of drama... so I send hugs and love! Cheering you on too! ❤️
I've always had trouble sticking to workout routines, but this year I've exercised every day. I started by doing Yoga with Adriene's Breath series in January every night after I put my daughter to bed. Then after that I continued to crave exercise at that same time of night, so joined Barre3 to do online workout classes. Now it has been almost 2 months and it's part of the routine-- no thinking about it or trying to convince myself to do it, it just happens. Never thought I would get here, it's great.
Lovely video, I hope you're doing well and feeling the little joys! I'm currently reading Jane Eyre as a wind-down bedtime book and I'm loving it! Obviously not a new book by any stretch but it's been a lovely escape each evening. Xx
Thank you Jessica! Your videos truly make me so happy and help me feel more grounded in the crazy times we are living in. I have been so inspired by you and look up to you♥️ I highly recommend the book “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay, it’s an incredible book! Hope you are doing okay♥️

I subscribe to the feel good books monthly subscription by the Samaritans and really recommend it. I'm a new subscriber to yr channel and love to see what you are up to and your realness x
so so so lovely to see your happy little face xx oh my, totally resonate with all of this... my routines in lockdown 3 are all over the place... Im finding it hard to maintain even the smallest routines... using winter as an excuse to curl up eat too much chocolate and binge watch netflix... of course im allowing myself those times, but i miss my routines so its time to switch it up a little... thank you for the inspiration x as always, xx lou x
Thank you so much for the book recommendations! I've been struggling to read this whole year which makes me so sad. And I think I'm the same as you routine wise, although my dog having just had major surgery and his aftercare has weirdly given me routine again. I'm now realising just how much I needed it. You're absolutely right though, gradual momentum is really important.
Hi ! I like the helping idea of planning a daily "something" (like meditation, yoga or any other daily routine to install) 5 days/week. You try to do it the first 5 days of the week, and if you miss a day (or two...), you still have two extra days to check your 5times/week list ! Let me know if my english is clear or if it seems a good advice for someone :)
@@cindysage9110 all about how the author learned to ‘winter’ through difficult periods of her life, and then explores the wider themes of wintering in terms of folklore, different cultures etc. So interesting. The author did a fantastic interview recently on the On Being podcast.
COUNTRY LIFE EH!😂..... MADE ME LAUGH AS THIS IS EXACTLY LIKE WHERE I LIVE ! gosh it's funny as I need routine, and write literally everything down, if I don't I feel totally lost and don't know what to do with myself. so my morning Yoga with Adriene and meditation , is crucial for my mental health. then structure my day and it really helps. even when I walk miss Darcy, all sections throughout my day. really helps. then relax in the evening to slow down and prepare for sleep, it really is needed. Im thinking off you Jessica ad sending lots of prayers and hugs x
I adored The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. The wait for a copy from the library was a few months and once I got it I barely got through the first several chapters before realizing I would have to buy a copy because I would definitely reread it. Also, while I wasn't a fan of two of his other books, I did quite enjoy Matt Haig's most recent book, The Midnight Library.
With kids at home due to the pandemic, the only way we’re getting by is our routine. I’d highly recommend the books ‘A Year of Living Simply’ by Kate Humble and both ‘If Women Rose Rooted’ and ‘The Enchanted Life’ by Sharon Blackie. All three are great non-fiction books.
Really loved your book recommendations! When it comes to routines I think that I'm going through something similar. Not having the structure that a steady job gives me is kinda messing with my productivity and my ability to do things. Lockdowns make it feel like every day is a holiday and so the drive to do something meaningful or even just finish a simple task gets harder. I always just think that I can do it later or tomorrow or if not I can do it the next day. Something as simple as putting up shelves in the bathroom ends up becoming a month-long task. Something that's been helping me is to mark specific times when I'm going to do something. For example, from 1pm to 4pm I'm going to send out resumes. I force myself to at the very least just have my laptop open and looking at my resume or job application from 1pm - 4pm. Anyways, thanks again! You've been really helping me get by :)
I love your book vlogs so much! Although my own reading has tailed off too... I’m now re-reading Harry Potter as that was all I could manage haha! I also have a Jane Austen on Audible though which is lovely. Non-fiction I’m reading Gabby Bernstein but only dipping in as that’s all I can handle. Thanks for your work as always! x
Thank you for the book recommendations - I’ve ordered The School of Life, it sounds like it’s just what I need having gone through some pretty big changes in my life in the past 6 months. I’ve found myself needing some guidance and not knowing where to turn. Hopefully this can give me some clarity in thought so I can work it out for myself. X

Lovely vlog. The bit about routines- I just listened to Dr. Chatterjees podcast where he interviews BJ Fogg who is a Stamford researcher that has written a book called Tiny Habits. It really resonated because he mentions that habits are not enforced by repetition but emotion. Thats why its important to make a tiny change and when you are successful it helps to build on that. Oh man Im rubbish at summarizing-he obviously explains it so much better! But really practical, taking into account how important retraining your inner voice is vital. Worth checking out x
It's just my nature and childwisperer by Carol Tuttle. She has a youtube channel if you want to check her out first. Both are about living your truth. They are an easy read. My kids interrupt me constantly but I easily can pick up were i was. And the power of vital force by Rajshree Patel.

I often have to work at 8pm till after midnight because I am homeschooling my kids and teaching my own lessons online or in work meetings or running around kids/me to appointments during the day.. So I often only get to emails, lesson prep, course work marking etc done evenings and weekends during the day. 😭... Free time for me does not exist 😢. Routines do not work so well for me because I am juggling all the above.. So every day is usually completely different 😔, so a daily routine is impossible.. It is so frustrating though. My ex husband never grew up.. As our marriage counselors and therapist says, which is why he was like my "3rd child" instead of my support/partner.. On top he is as gas lighter and uses emotional sadism to.. Hence why I separated from him. Thanks for book tips.. See if I can get time at some point to read for fun... At present no time 😭.
It is non-fiction so the odds are against me, 😋 but I just finished Writers & Lovers by Lily King. Quick read with a beautifully complex protagonist that you may enjoy!

Haha, I’m an engineer too, I had the same thought =) But I completely agree, I wish we were taught more about psychology and dealing with emotions! And boundaries! I learned so much about boundary conditions in a math/science way but zero about healthy emotional boundaries!
