I should have added, that after composing myself while sprawled out on the tarmac - I got back on the bike and rode home very painfully! Had to ring Bev who was in bed - 1:30am- to help me off the bike and dose me up! Dear oh dear!
Hi rob glad you’re recovering from your fall. It’s bad enough riding a bike at night and raining especially when you don’t know the roads in the dark. I’ll watch the videos any way you put them on. They are all good. Cheers
Oh dear. I broke a couple of ribs too Rob so know what the pain feels like! Cocodamol and Naproxen for me for a couple of weeks, a vile combination but helped with the pain. Glad you're on the mend now though and look forward to your antics with the lads.🙂👍
I was so sorry to hear about your fall on the way home. I can only imagine the pain you must have been in. Hope that you get better real soon and out enjoying the bike again. Catch up with you soon mate.
Ouch. Reminds me of the time I did my ankle playing football after work, then realised I had a 30 mile ride home. I changed down by hitting my knee with my left hand, and lifting it to go up. It was a long ride back. At least your bike's okay, Rob.
Been there done it Rob but didn't break any ribs. Glad you got back OK though. I am sure you have got some wonderful video footage to show us once you done all the editing. It'll be resting up for you Rob for a few days and get yourself on the mend. 😊👍🏍
Sorry to hear about your off, and hope you recover quickly, now got 208 miles on the New Honda 500, what a difference from the BMW, so light and seating position is ideal, so I am enjoying my biking again, All the best to everyone.
I did the self same thing a couple of years back in Germany on my VStrom 650. The bike went over landed on my foot. Luckily my friends were there to lift the bike off me. I was in such agony from my ribs and foot that an ambulance was called. I got my ribs and foot x rayed luckily nothing broken just bruised. I had to extend my stay in Germany as I couldn’t get my boot on as the foot was very swollen so couldn’t ride back. Damage to bike was bent clutch lever. Glad you’re ok, it’s easily done.
Very self deprocating Rob! You are not a drama king, you are a real bloke. Your videos are REAL, and all the better for it. Show me someone how's never made a mistake and I'll show you a fibber. After more than fifty years of riding I did something I have never done before. Tried to pull away with steering lock on, down I went. Dented my exhaust and slightly bent front brake lever (which I mamaged to straighten). Hope you recover well and keep rinding and posting. Best wihes, Paul.
Hey Rob, never met you before but I appreciate a number of things here…. a bunch of regular fellas going off on a trip having a good time what they’ve been up to including the bits when tarmac comes too close…. Whilst some films can be made with other precision, I certainly prefer just earthy straightforward. This is how it is….. some people just cannot “be” with anything and have to criticise…. looking forward to seeing more of your films and hoping that you recover quickly from your cracked ribs and chest infection… Take care, buddy
Thank you John and you have hit the nail On the head in terms of how I try to present the capers me and my mates get up to! Five more videos to come in the Normandy series but if you have not already, do please subscribe to see my other stuff including a trip around Ireland and Scotland on a 100cc 2-stroke. Thanks for your comment and nice to make your acquaintance!!
I'm glad to hear that, despite your fall, you've retained your sense of humour and that you're on the mend, Rob. 👍We've almost all of us had adverse things happen that have caused us physical pain; it's part of living. Just don't be in a rush to go out doing things like swinging an axe; much better to let Bev bring you another ice cream. 😊
It’s easily done it’s a good point that we should always check our gear isn’t going to cause a problem . Sounds like you’ve been in a lot of pain, I hope your back riding with your mates soon, take care😊👍🏍️
Glad it happened on the way home and you are now making a good recovery. I was on tour in Ireland a couple of months ago and dropped my Tiger 1050 sport in a garage forecourt slipping on some mud. I badly bruised my ribs which gave me some stick for the rest of the trip. I was mostly ok on the bike but turning over in bed was excruciating! As you know, it takes a while to recover. Looking forward to the videos of the trip
It’s been 10 days now and I am now much more comfortable in bed but turning still painful. Coughing is worst!! Have you seen my ride around Ireland on the YB100 Graham?
Hopefully you'll have a full recovery and be back to full fitness over the next few weeks. These things happen to all of us and, as some of us are getting on in life, we are sometimes not so sharp so to speak. Anyway I'm pleased that you all had a good trip and glad to see your all home safely. Looking forward to the footage you've taken, take care and rest up.
Did a similar thing back in the day. I had thick baggy waterproofs on as it was raining. I didn't realise that after starting the bike the kick start lever had gone up inside the leg of my waterproofs. Get well soon Rob
Hi Rob thanks for the wee film and your news. So sorry to hear of your wee fall. I hope you are back to your usual self soon and out on your wee YB with the Wiltshire Whizzers. Don't be hard on yourself about your films. They are always interesting. Well the bike ones are. I'm sorry I don't watch your other ones!😢 All the best
Hi rob sorry to hear about your mishap, easily done, I would say if anyone has been a biker of shall we say yesteryear, this has happed to us all. I remember riding years ago through heavy rain when the gear was barely light showerproof, and had cleverly fitted plastic bags around by boots to keep my feet dry, and yes you guessed it, put my feet down at a stop and my foot slid away on the wet slippery surface. Looking forward to your trip videos, and don’t be shy to share some of your mates character traits, that’s all part of the fun.
Ouch, I didnt it was you that had experimented with the theory of gravity when Mike told me. My summer boots (look like walking boots) have very long laces. After getting the loop caught and just freeing myself before I toppled over, I now make very long loops and tuck them in tongue part. Bicycle clips on your waterproofs?
Broke 4 ribs whilst waterskiing as a youth, fell off at 30+mph and there was floating debris in lake( a log) nomlife jacket as padding = agonising pain. Trying to get back in the boat. Memory never left me. So I feel for you.
HI Rob, having not been abroad since 2019 I'm wondering what additional docs etc are required since brexit. I intend to go to Catalunya for a few days in Sept. Thanks.
Are you riding Tom? You need a UK badge (amazon and stick on number plate). You have to give name and passport details to whoever you are going with - fly, ferry, tunnel etc. If riding you need an original V5. Have a brilliant time - my email is roblittle_uk@hotmail.com
Rob so sorry to hear of your mishap. Get well soon chum. I’m looking forward to the Normandy series. I thought you might get some pleasure from viewing this link … on TH-cam channel Bikes Brushes titled Norton Interpol 2 😂 Dave
It’s 14min duration. Bikes and Brushes - it is about a painting commission I had done last week of a Norton Interpol 2, just a bit of fun. The artist filmed her presenting me with painting and her creating it in time lapse.
The A350 is not a pleasant road, there are bertter ways to get to Poole from your neck of the woods. Pleased that you are on the mend, take it steady, I'm sure Mrs Little has her nurses uniform on and is tending to your every need ? BTW, you haven't told us what happened after Humpty Dumpty fell of the bike and how you & the bike made it home? Really looking forward to the Normandy footage, it is something I would very much like to do when I retire.
Well Poole was not my choice of port anyway although I do have some experience of the road after Poole Bike Night !! But those bends are pretty horrible.
I should have added, that after composing myself while sprawled out on the tarmac - I got back on the bike and rode home very painfully! Had to ring Bev who was in bed - 1:30am- to help me off the bike and dose me up! Dear oh dear!
Might be a solution to your sound issues here "Was Ditching GoPro a Mistake? Motovlogging with DJI Action 3/4 has One Fatal Flaw!" by Lexdfox? Be well sir.

I know people whose ankles are just fine and they kick the gear lever. Thanks for your good wishes!
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
God bless x
Thank you so much!
Get well soon Rob love your videos 👍
Well thanks George !
Sorry you got hurt, a few weeks and you'll be good as new...God bless.

Sounds like you came off rather worse than me Nikki! Thanks for your anecdote - bikes can be painful even when stationary.
Get well soon buddy, 👍
Thanks Brian !
Very very glad to hear you are ok. Something like that is so easily done
Ouch 🤕 hope you get better soon Rob
I'm already better than I was thanks Bob !

Glad your spirits are still high after the tumble, we all have these moments of oops.
Well it was a brilliant trip - we can’t afford to be morose can we?
Cracked ribs are very painful. Wishing you a swift recovery Rob without too much discomfort.
It’s much better than it was this time last week James!
